Next 'Twilight' Novel Nixed?

"Twilight" fans awaiting the next installment in the vampire saga from Stephenie Meyer might never see it -- the author stopped working on her latest book "Midnight Sun" when the unfinished manuscript leaked online.

Meyer posted an explanation on her website, "I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on 'Midnight Sun,' so it is on hold indefinitely." The author posted an incomplete draft on StephenieMeyer.com,"I'd rather my fans not read this version ... the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting?"

A rep for the author confirms to New York Daily News, "Stephenie has no plans to move forward with 'Midnight Sun' at this time." The novel would have been the fifth book in the "Twilight" series with sexy bloodsucker Edward Cullen as the narrator.

"Stephenie is working on something else at the moment," the rep reveals. "But she hasn't announced it yet. It isn't 'Twilight'-related. When she's ready to reveal it, she will. This has been an intense three years for her, and currently she's just focusing on being a writer."

Filming for the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon" is scheduled to begin in March in Vancouver.

As a skeptic regarding vampire stories, I was not going to read these books. I’m so glad I did. I’m 61 years old and I didn’t feel it was a children’s story, but an everyone story. I certainly hope the author will decide to finish Midnight Sun. We fans want to read it!!!

i think the twilight series is so dumb,bella is always Complaing about her life anyway she has no life whatsoever its all about Edward this or that.Its aslo sad when there such things like Twlight Moms Wow Go get a LIFE! its just a stupied book which has meaningless Vaule.the movie was so cheesy kirstin stweart and rob patterison are the Worst Actors I ever Seen.So go ahead commentors Backlash me cause i will be living my life!!

i think it would be ridiculous if stephanie meyers didn’t finish midnight sun. she says she’s too sad to write?? well how does she feel about letting down all her fans just because some idiot leaked an early draft of the manuscript. i absolutely love twilight and i along with the rest of stephanie meyers fans would be disappointed if she let this incident keep her from giving her readers insight into one of the most complex sides of her beautiful love story.

I don’t really like to read but because of twilight saga, i love reading now. Reading her books, I feel like im in the story, is like im there.

Ppl need to stop begging her!! I hope she is happy now that she had pissed and disappointed one of her fan! If she will not finish midnight sun then i will never read any of her books! and i will hate her!!!

To me, midnight sun is very important because is edward point of view! Edward is TWILIGHT!

I first heard about Twilight when the movie came into theatres. After that i decided to read the books and i fell in love with them imediatly! the first chapter of Twilight captuered me into the whole series. i also read some of the partial draft of Midnight Sun. when i was reading the Twilight saga i was also wondering what he was thinking and how he felt about some of the things that happened in the books. sooo heres a vote for you to keep going!

steph please just finish the book midnight sun!!!! why should the fans suffer for those who -and very stupidly-leaked the book on the internet!!just finish the book for fans sake!!! i have to add that the first time i read twilight i fell in love with all the characters especially edward!!! and then there was no stopping… i read so much that i only ate once a day no snacks or anything. then after i was done the series i reread twilight 7x, eclipse4x,breaking dawn 5x, and even the partial draft( the one posted on steph’s website) 2x!!! and the book isnt even finished yet!!! PLEASE just write the book we’re waiting very impatiently- not only me but all your fans-for your next TWILIGHT book!!! not the host or any other but TWILIGHT!!!Please finish the book!!! pllleeeeaaaasssseeeee?????

I initially picked up Twilight shortly after the movie was released because I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. I ended up completing the entire series over Thanksgiving weekend. The novels provided me with an escape from the oftentimes mundane workload of a grad student. I developed an affection for these characters that I rarely experience (though this was no Pride and Prejudice, it triggered similar emotions in me). Though her writing style may be criticized, Stephanie Meyer told a very pure, passionate and surprisingly traditional love story. I did read the draft of Midnight Sun, and felt my connection with the characters deepen. I must admit that I fell in love with Edward Cullen, as I did with Mr. Darcy, Romeo, and The Count Monte Cristo. I miss these characters like I miss friends, and I truly hope that Ms. Meyer decides to finish Midnight Sun.

I am a mother of a teenage twilight fan and I myself have become obsessed with the book. We have saw the movie several times and plan to buy it as soon as it comes out. I am not the only adult who loves this story- I know several others. I along with all the other twilight obsessed mothers are begging you Ms. Meyers (if you are reading any of these comments) please finish Midnight Sun. I also would like to comment you on being able to write a series of novels that has encouraged so many of our youth to put down the video games, and pick up a book, open it, and finally read. SO PLEASE FINISH MIDNIGHT SUN.

I totally agree about Stephanie taking her anger out on her fans by not completing Midnight Sun. I bet the reality is she has writers block and can’t move forward with the series. I have read all 4 books and thoroughly enjoyed them all. I find it unfortunate the she is at the end of her road on the series…

I am sorry for the betrayal of her work. And yes I have read the entire series including the partial manuscript she posted.

The fans of this author and the fans of this series are loyal. And will be patient. We as a whole have fallen in love with these characters. People, grown, teens, children alike are reading more now, thanks to these stories. I truly hope she finishes Midnight Sun. It is nice to see things from Edwards point of view.

Ms. Meyer, don’t give up because of one betrayal. Wonderful work.

I feel in love with the book because of Edward & to get a glimpse into his side of the story was more than any fan could ask for. As for Stephenie Myers to NOT finish the book would be an abomination to the story itself. For her to stop mid book because of a leak would mean she does not value her fans or a true writer committed to her work but is in it for the glory. This is disappointing and I hope someway she sees all these comments and asks herself.

She really should get over herself.

Ok, it was leaked but come on, have a little cry and get on with it. I am really turned off the whole twilight series because of how she is acting now. So many fans went out and spent their money, read the books fell in love with them (except for breaking Dawn, which was just pathetic) and she is carrying on like this. pfffft she is getting really annoying and a lot of people are also annoyed and really really getting sick of it.
