I am45, self employed - all my life- in film and in construction. Film is dead(and now a strike?) and construction - new or redo-has been dead since Aug. I gave up my apt- put my stuff in storage- thinking I’d have to relocate for work.I only have a small credit bill and my cell- but there are no jobs-not even min wage anything.I am facing travelling and working for room and board. its like the dirty thirties.

The economy stinks and i am affected. Technically, I’m not laid off but I’m employed. Realistically, I’m jobless and on stand by. My job cut most of people’s hours because of the bad economy. Thanks to the bad economy, I don’t think i can pay off my credit cards and i don’t can pay off my cell phone bill. This is horrible.

This economy stinks! Everyone is suffering - losing retirement money, savings, jobs and homes. Some people are even losing their minds and doing horrific things to themselves and their families (did you hear what happened in California?). What I want to know is how to deal with creditors when you get laid off. I have a lot of debt and my job is talking layoffs. While nothing has happened yet, we all know that it’s coming soon. What can I do if I am laid off and staring at a moutain of bills?

So sorry to hear of your misfortune. I also lost my job this year and it took several months but I finally got a job. But now I am so behind my mortgage company is trying to foreclose on my condo and my association is also racking up legal fees, etc. and starting foreclosure. I keep paying them but I can’t get ahead or get my bills caught up.
From what I know, a short sale basically is nothing more than you selling your home at what you owe the bank. Is that right? There is no consequences except that you don’t have any equity or gain to get out of it.

We relocated over the summer for my job. Since then, we have not been able to sell our home several states away, my husband has lost his job, and our savings is GONE. We are thinking about a short sale, but need to know the consequences. Please help!
