Kathy from New Zealand: I have the same problem with my toes, and it sounds like the same toes. I have persued medical treatment for the problem when I was 18 but felt like the doctor was not taking me seriously. It has been 16 years since that doctor visit and nothing has gotten better with my toes. Some days are much worse than others. Just know you are not alone.

You might try being checked for trigeminal neuralgia. I went for years seeing dentists, oral surgeons etc. until I researched it myself online and took that info to a neurosurgeon. It is extremely painful and extremely frustrating.

I have suffered from severe maxofacial pain for about 3 years now. I have been to doctors and no one is doing anything about it. I feel things moving above my upper pallate. Left side, severe! One doctor told me I had alergies, another told me to get my upper teeth out. I tell you I was in so much pain I had my teeth out, now I dont have enough bone and what is there is too sharp to wear a plate. This started a few years ago after I had a tooth out on the back left side? What caused this, I have bben to so many different doctors its not funny and I cant get an answer! Is there a cure? Please answer this one. I cant stand it - between this and the pain from uturine fibroids Its sheer hell!

To the comment regarding pimple like/swelling in the knee and below. Obviously they X-rayed it, however they should have test the region for MRSA staph infections. Symptom do not alway surface above the skin. The infection can spread fast and cause swelling, pains, and deterioration of the skin tissue. If untreated it can spread through the blood stream.

I live in New England and every winter I get red/purple, swollen, itchy, hot, and blistery toes. The pads under my toes and around the toenails are the worst areas, however, the swelling and redness is creeping down toward the joint within my toes (the toes affected are the toes next to my big toes and the ones after that). The pads and tips of my toes get so swollen and soar that I have difficulty wearing shoes at times. My primary care doctor prescribes prednisone for my toes and the swelling goes down (I am on this medication for much of the winter). I have been mis and re diagnosed several times: “no idea”, arthitis, chillblains, and now vasculitis. Please help me figure this out. Should I see a particular doctor to confirm what I have? Any ideas what this could be?
Thank you for your time.
~ Kathy

I have a question more than a comment. I was watching your show tonight about deadly symptoms. I have been breaking out in hives on different areas of my body and it seems to flare up at night. What can be the cause of that, and is it deadly?

WATCHING THIS LAST NIGHT I THOUGHT I HAD HEARD ONE OF THE WARNING SIGNS INVOLVING A RASH AND SWELLING OF YOUR LEG COULD ALSO BE A SIGN OF A BLOOD CLOT. IS THIS CORRECT OR DID I MISUNDERSTAND?
