Actor Sam Shepard Slapped with DUI

0104shepard.jpg

Sam Shepard, an actor and playwright, was arrested Saturday on charges of speeding and drunk driving.

Shepard, 65, was reportedly pulled over in Normal, Illinois, for going 16 mph over the speed limit at around 2 a.m. When police approached Sam's Chevy Blazer, they stated that the actor appeared intoxicated. Later, a breath test would allegedly confirm that Shepard's BAC was more than double the legal limit.

The playwright was taken to McLean County Jail, and posted bond. He is known for his 1979 play "Buried Child", which won a Pulitzer Prize. He has had small roles in films such as "Black Hawk Down" and "The Notebook" -- and lives with longtime partner, actress Jessica Lange, with whom he has two children.

Sylvester Stallone should have Sam
Shepard sign a contract for his next
Brazilian action movie with Arnold, Mickey, Jet Li, & Eric Roberts.
Sylvester & his commando team join
up to save Sam who has been kidnapped
by Brazilian blue cannibal indians.
Example of a scene. Middle of the
Apocalypto Jungle. Sam tied up in
a chair. Monologues. Sylvester & Team commando show up & delivers him. Dialogue:
Sam: Was about time you guys showed up!
Sylvester: Traffic jams. U ok?
Sam: Feelin’ great! Just like a Francis Bacon painting!
Sylvester: punched, uh?
Sam: Them cannibals plan to have me
for breakfast!
Mickey: We’ve got company.
Sylvester: How many?
Mickey: fifty sal mineoes, i’d say.
Sylvester: LET’S MOVE!!!
Arnold: How about a cigar first?
Sam: Brillant idea! Garcia y Lorca!
Sylvester: LET’S MOVE!
Jet Li: My sister is ready.
Sam: Hocus pocus!
Arnold: Shoot them all!
Sylvester: LET’S MOVE!

The whole project needs another
screen writer, i agree. Anybody
knows Ben Stiller’s phone number?

- My children, latest generation born from Cadmus, why are you sitting here with wreathed sticks in supplication to me, while the city fills with incense, chants, and cries of pain? Children, it would not be appropriate for me to learn of this from any other source,
so I have come in person—I, Oedipus,
whose fame all men acknowledge. But you there, old man, tell me—you seem to be the one who ought to speak for those assembled here. What feeling brings you to me—fear or desire? You can be confident that I will help. I shall assist you willingly in every way.
I would be a hard-hearted man indeed,
if I did not pity suppliants like these.
Tibi,
Blaise Cendrars

As a local of the area, that street is well known to be heavily patrolled at night. Normal is a college town and it is crawling with police. It does show you that one slip can cost you a lot. It also shows that no matter who you are, how much money you have, people are still not happy. Money does not buy brains or peace. As an ex-alcoholic, I do hope that he gets real help. I know that it is out there. It delivered me.

who’s the idiots? where’s the outrage? It’s a sad night for a gifted writer. He was intoxicated as were many drivers that night at 2am. It would have been sad had he killed himself or others.

you people are complete idiots. shepard is the only american playwright who still has a shot at winning the nobel prize, the only american dramatist to win the prize since o’neil. and it would have been nice if you had expressed the same outrage when you found out that your current president and vice-president have recieved five dui’s between the two of them, but you probably didn’t know that or you cut those losers some slack.

He is not only a profound playwright, he was the male lead in Baby Boom with Diane Keaton and a lead in Crimes of The Heart which also starred his long time partner Jessica Lange.

He writes about this father’s addictions in much of his work through the characters. Had hoped he had worked on his own demons. Never too late to work on those demons and I hope he does.

A great playwright. His character vince, in Buried Child, takes a life altering, drunken drive across Illinois

Not too smart at all. Anywhere. Anytime.
Call A Cab. Walk.
Crawl.
But do NOT drive drunk and risk everything and other people’s lives!

He IS smart enough to already know this too,………..Shame on him.

Not too smart, considering there is a state university right in town, crawling with state cops.
