Oprah on the Palin Rumors

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is setting the record straight regarding rumors that Sarah Palin wasn't invited as a guest on her talk show.

"I said I would be happy to talk to Sarah Palin when the election was over," Oprah reveals to "Extra." "I went and tried to talk to Sarah Palin and instead she talked to Greta Van Susteren. She talked to Matt Lauer. She talked to Larry King, but she didn't talk to me. But maybe she'll talk to me now that she has a book deal."

Lady O's couches are always ready for President-elect Barack Obama and wife Michelle. "There's always an open invitation for the President-elect and First Lady."

Winfrey served as an honorary chair at Alvin Ailey's Dance Theatre's 50th anniversary celebration -- and kidded with "Extra" about having two left feet! "In my wildest, wildest, crazy, crazy dreams, I am a dancer," O joked. "When I've like had too many tequila shots and I go to sleep, I dream of being a dancer."

Things took a serious turn when Oprah opened up about the wildfires that devastated homes in Santa Barbara also threatened to take her Montecito home. Winfrey was evacuated -- and told "Extra" she grabbed a book of letters from Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey and the ladies that attended her Legends Ball. "So when the fires were coming and the flames were a blowin', I said, 'Get my letters!'"

Oprah’s strength is credibility with her audience. Oprah loses credibility when she states that her show will not be used as a platform for any candidate, after clearly supporting a candidate with several appearances on her show.

BIGOTS SEGREGATE THEY DON’T HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH OTHER RACES, OPRAH DOESN’T. SHE IS NO BIGOT.

She’s friends with Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray and alot of other white people. If she was a bigot, all that she would have on her show would be black people. Most of her guests are white. bigots segregate, oprah doesn’t.

Sarah Palin is of Jewish ancestry, if she is being a bigot…well she is calling the pot black. She has no room to talk about other races, she needs to look in her own backyard before she starts mouthing off.

I am appalled by the Oprah haters. Sarah Palin is a bigot and so is her husband. They did not try to hide it or disguise it, so I find the comments of her supporters to be disgusting. Oprha’s ratings are still the best on television and the people who are claiming they will no longer watch the show, probably didn’t watch before the “Palin.” Even John McCain is dnow distancing himself from that racist and violence to not just Obama but all black Americans. She is KKK without the sheet.

NEC, Since when does it mean that a black man hates himself when he votes for a white guy? Does that mean we’ve been practicing self hate ever since black men died for the right to vote for… you guessed it white guys. With that in mind I don’t understand the hatred Obama recieved from those in the McCain/Palin camp, shouting kill him and he’s an arab… That’s what makes thier supporters seem ignorant. But that can be blamed away to the bias media, since I personally know some well educated well to do Palin/Mccain supporters that are not ignorant, back woods, or racist…just rich. I did want to ask Beth, what power does Oprah have that she’s somehow abused? She is not holding a judgeship or office that many times have been held by someone who abused thier power to hold down… No not the blackman.. Poor people in general. The problem I have with what you’ve said is that, Oprah, like any other celebs have no power only status. She has status with her celebrity and her show, which she can use to promote whatever she wants…It’s you who have the power. You have the battery power to use that little clicky thing in your hand to change the channel if you don’t like what’s going on. But apparently you didn’t and a whole lot of people just like you who complain and complain but contrary to the posting earlier that stated that there is a continual ratings decline for Oprah, she is as popular as ever and even shows like the juggernaut, Late Night with David Letterman, gets a ratings boost for her appearances. I think a lot of this retoric stems from the one thing that no one in this post can do anything about… Obama is President-elect by a landslide and even overwhelmingly took the popular vote. C’mon if Elisabeth Hasselbeck can admit it you can. By the way no one seems to be jumping on the View for not firing her for being a Palin supporter…(no I don’t want her fired but if you’re saying Oprah is bad for snubbing Palin isn’t Mrs. Hasselbeck in the same boat for her Obama bashing?)… I honestly think everyone should just go back to their corners and chill for at least four years and see where this guy takes us. Besides look at it this way… You guy’s are still winning 43-1.

There goes Beth’s credibility. I like to read all the pros and cons about this story. It is interesting what different people think and have to post and I take into consideration of what is being posted however, when a person starts stretching the truth in order to get a point across, I dismiss their posting altogether. Doesn’t hold weight with me.

First of all, good for you Tracy. There are educated people on both sides of the debate. I’m a Republican and my older brother is a Democrat. We have our disagreements but we also agree on certain issues, like the obsession some in the media have with bashing Governor Palin borders on sociopathic. I think Governor Palin did the right thing by not agreeing to appear on the Oprah show. Oprah was blatantly in Obamas corner. This was an abuse of her power and shame on everyone who voted for Obama just because Oprah endorsed him. In fact Oprah has rendered her show as off limits for Republicans. I’m sure it wasn’t deliberate but it that is the fallout of her irresponsible endorsement of Obama. People can babble all they want they she had the right to endorse who she wanted and they are right. But to use her show to promote him not once but twice was a blatant abuse of power. Maybe next time she will learn to keep her opinion on the down low and not use her show to promote Obama or any other politician, Democrat or Republican. If she has one side on her show then she should have the other sideon her show as well otherwise it’s looks like she is playing favorites and that is offensive to at least 40% of her viewing audience. I guess celebrities do not want to face the reality that the fact that there opinion carries more weight (unfortunately) than the average person which is why celebrities should keep their opinion to themselves. Jodie Foster did precisely that. I’m sure she’s probably a liberal Democrat but she respected her fans enough not to risk offending them when asked who she was voting for. So I will most definitely keep going to her movies.

Where did MS O. get her “What book to read degree”? Can’t believe there are people who actually listen to her opinions!!
Run Sarah—Run away as fast as you can from Oprah…you will be ok.. She is old news… needs to retire… She doesn’t need the general public anymore…Those who hang on to her words need to take a look at their lives…

Good for you Sarah! I can’t stand Oprah she’s right up there with Spike Lee, Jessie Jackson and Sharpton. They are all prejudice as hell. Ummm and to anyone who say’s different, didn’t she build a “blacks only” school? Can you imagine the response if a white talk show host built a “whites only” school. Oh yeah, I’m sure that would be perfectly fine lol.
