Lip-Synch Britney in Britain?

1201britney.jpg

Britney Spears 'performed' in the UK for the first time in five years when she appeared on the "X-Factor" this weekend -- but did she lip-synch?

That's the question on everyone's mind after the Britster performed her hit "Womanizer" as a reported 13 million people watched at home.

Brit's alleged lip-synching didn't appear to bother judge Simon Cowell -- the acid-tongued judge gave the recovering pop princess a standing ovation.

NEXT: Madge and A-Rod to Mexico City

I have to disagree barnsinger. We’d all love to hear her sing… but she is a Pop Music Singer. And The youth loves to see some dancing! I’m in my 40’s and love to watch people dance!! In order to do all those jerking around jumping up and down dance moves she is gonna obviously sound winded. lol.

If Britney can sing, I would much rather she lose the dance moves and actually SING. I don’t really know what her voice sounds like because her songs require no singing ability, and because her vocals are so electronically enhanced, they’re almost reduced to a whisper.

Honestly - ‘but did she lip-synch?’Is that really a question ? Is the Pope a Catholic? Very wide camera shots, hardly any close ups and when they did they showed her out of time in sections. Clearly, mic was turned on for her ‘talking part’ at the end.

X-Factor is a live (in the true sense) singing talent show and she showed no respect for the contestants by not meeting them, watching their performances (compare the other megastars who mentored the contestants) and couldn’t even bothered offering an other than gormless piece of advice “keep doing it”.

She had so much more to offer but I guess it had some entertainment value.

I don’t care for “lip-synching” any more than the next person. But let’s face it,.. that is practically the NORM these days! Most of them do that now, along with using a “perfect pitch” machine, and other machines that do crazy things to a persons voice (T-Pain). There is hardly much singing to be heard LIVE these days.

I’d cut Britney some slack because we already know that she truly CAN sing, but I’d like to see any one of us jump and run around in a dance routine and all the while trying to sound like the recording on a CD!!? She’s only human, she has to breathe you know?? I for one would much rather hear the song, than someones heavy breathing from keeping up with their back-up dancers!! I like both the dancing and the singing, but anyone would know that you can’t have both! She is rather good at both singing and dancing… so (so long as she is slightly with the lyrics) I can over-look the lip synching, and enjoy the routine.

I think what most people don’t undertstand is that it’s all about the performance, and that was fantastic - she looked happy and confident and really let loose in some parts of the song. And for the record she did sing live with playback too. To be honest, why does everyone care so much if she lip synchs - all that really matters is that it looks and sounds amazing - which it did :P

her performances were not amazing. i mean, even for her. they were average at best. bad, if im being honest. ridicolous of simon to give her a standing ovation. for what?? Not falling off the stage? on American Idol all the guests have to sing live. why isnt it like that on the british show??

Whether she sang or lip-synched, the performance was still atrocious. You call that a song? She barely opened her mouth, and the song has no melody whatsoever. The X Factor contestants proved that they all can sing rings around her, and they sing her songs better than she can ever hope to.

Britney did sing but to a backing track she had. her voice was clearly heard as well. You can tell she was in her element and all the performances she did in Europe were all amazing. I’m very proud of her.

A sme and my family watched at home we were all apalled at the fact that she couldn’t be bothered to come back to the UK for the first time in years and couldn’t sing a song without the need of a lip synching. We thought it was attrocious.
