'Idol' Worship of Paula

Paula Abdul is staying put! "American Idol" executive producer Ken Warwick told reporters on Monday, "There has never been any discussion that we would want to get rid of Paula."

Warwick was responding to comments Abdul made during an interview with Barbara Walters last week. Paula claimed the "Idol" producers let super fan Paula Goodspeed audition for the show because they knew it would be uncomfortable for the judge. Warwick says that is completely false, "I was in the room, and I can absolutely put my hand on my heart and say I didn't know [about Goodspeed's stalking history]."

Goodspeed committed suicide in November outside of Abdul's L.A. home. "There's no way in a million years I would put someone [dangerous] in front of someone else because it is good TV."

Paula also confessed to Barbara Walters that she might refuse to extend her contract after it expires this season. Warwick does not want her to leave the competition show. "Paula is an integral part of the program and I hope she's there until the show goes off air... America loves her. Her job is not in jeopardy."

Season 8 of "American Idol" premieres January 13 on FOX.

Paula Abdul is a gift to television. It’s rare to have a music superstar onscreen giving young people a chance at achieving their dreams. Her personality is unique and that’s what we love about her. Not only is she stunning gorgeous, but we love Paula for the amazing contribution she single handedly made to the MTV generation via her incredible choreography and #1 smash hits singles.

She brings a harmony to the show. I don’t tune in to watch “those other two” guys blabbing away on camera. I watch in to see Paula’s smiling face. There’s enough criticism and negativity in the world. Audiences should appreciate Paula’s positive outlook on everything and realize that life is not just a bitter british judge who’s afraid to come out of the closet and an overweight hip hop mogul who calls everyone “dog.”

I’m proud of Paula and her ARABIC roots and the fact she encourages and never backs down.

I hope Paula doesn’t leave because Paula is the reason why I watch the show. Paula brings happiness to the American Idol family.

I think Paula is LONG OVERDUE for an exit on Idol. Occasionally she is the sweet one of the bunch, I do agree; but the woman can’t make her own decisions. She ALWAYS agrees with whatever Randy says.

If Paula leaves ‘Idol,’ so would I. I think she’s the only one who hears the music as I do - not as a music producer or just a critic. She actually loves the music or dislikes it!

I THINK PAULA IS THE ONE WHO KEEPS EVERYTHING BALANCED OUT. IT WOULDN’T BE THE SAME WITHOUT HER.
