What about Ellen's Marriage?

1106ellen.jpg

Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi tied the knot earlier this year -- but will the passing of California Proposition 8 nullify their marriage?

That's false -- the couple's legal union will be honored. Prop 8 is a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in California -- but same sex couples who wed before the proposition passed on Tuesday will not be affected.

The Emmy winner issued this statement after it was announced that the proposition had passed: "This morning, when it was clear that Proposition 8 had passed in California, I can't explain the feeling I had. I was saddened beyond belief. Here we just had a giant step toward equality and then on the very next day, we took a giant step away.

She continued, "I believe one day a 'ban on gay marriage' will sound totally ridiculous. In the meantime, I will continue to speak out for equality for all of us."

Listen folks if you want to have some wisdom: “Kingdom come, and Kingdom go; leaders come, and leaders go but the earth remains the same”.
“Naked everyone comes, and naked everypne will go”.
“The things that we do see are temporary, but things not seen are eternal”.
“You can commit evil with multitude, but you will stand alone before a judge”.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is failure, shame and disappointment.
Let anyone reading this answer the
five most important questions every human being must answer if he is to claim success in life.

1. Who am I? This is the question of image and identity
2. Where am I from? This is the question of your source and origin
3. Why am I here? This is the question of purpose and reason
4. What can I do? This is the question of potential or ability and…
5. Where am I going? This is the question of destiny and the end.

Ellen’s marriage is hereby illegimate. The people have spoken and should be respected. If every American respect Obama’s victory over McCain, then the vote against gay-marriage should also be respected.

Miriam, To Dont H8 The Hater, and I Only Repeat Myself…

You are missing the point entirely.

The U.S. has a separation of church and state, yet you constantly seek to impose your church’s view (and only your church’s view) upon everyone else. What about faiths that don’t aren’t against your church’s beliefs? That is wrong.

Our founding fathers established our country because of religious oppression, and you turn around and seek to oppress others.

Go back and read your Bible, especially what Jesus tells you to do in the New Testament. Hint: love one another just as I have loved you.

FYI… Prop 8 hasn’t passed and the media is wrong by saying it has. If you phone the office of The Secretary of State and ask about prop 8. They will say it hasn’t been called and that they are still counting the 3-4 million absentee and provisional votes that have not yet been calculated in. They will not know the outcome until December 13th. So cross your fingers!!!

But who are you to tell me my own belief system!? And who are you to argue my own humble opinion regarding the matter?

“Happiness is based on rather or not Gay people should get married or not”? REALLY???

How dare you ever tell me how to believe, think or share my opinion!

I don’t even once remotely recall my “opinion” stating anythng in regard to “acceptance” of people being GAY?? The issue is “gay marriage”.. that has no baring on how I feel about gay people in general. And how dare you judge my character as such!

I have my own value system in my country, and GOD! And I carry the same basic values that many of my ancestors had carried long before me! Why are my “values” even in question?

You have a right to your opinion, just as much as I have a right to my own! But don’t even begin to expect the entire nation, or world for that matter, to completely agree with either yours or my own!

I accept people as a whole,.. I accept the HUMAN race! Asian, Black, Hispanic, Gay or otherwise! Sure people are entitled to happiness on all fronts, but while I accept the differences, I do not have to be forced to believe this should be accepted as a LAW!

Your “rage” issue, however, seems to call into question your own stability.

I have not told you how to feel, I have not told you what you should believe, and I have not told you you are wrong! I have merely stated my own thoughts on the matter of the issue.

You have now screamed of Judgment calling.. yet you have become the judge?

I feel terrible that Prop 8 was passed in California.. I believe in the right to freedom of life! It’s everyone’s personal right in life to be whom they want to be and choose whom they want to be with. I support Gay rights because I have family members that are Gay and I love them just as much as if they were straight.. Gay, Straight, who the heck cares, were all human! I feel that regardless if you’re a married couple of a man & wife or a gay marriage the same laws should apply to both because you live your life the exact same way regardless and you share everything just like a normal couple does so you should have the same rights. Keep fighting for equal rights that someday it’ll happen… Look, we have our 1st African American President so now have hope and believe that we can conquer what we set out to do in life.

I think that it is wrong to deny anyone the right to marriage. If a hetero couple can go to Vegas and get married half wasted on tequilla, why should a gay couple be any different. All that should matter about marriage is if the two people love each other, and as far as religion goes, it is between them and whatever God they believe in! If you try to bring God onto your side, remember, all people were created equal!!!!!!!!

LET THEM MARRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m not degrading anyone. Gay people have the right to a civil union, with all the rights that apply. Marriage, while not in the best shape, still needs to be reserved for heterosexuals. There you go.

“we do make mistakes.. don’t take the sanctity of marriage and make it another one.”

If you believe in the sanctity of marriage, then divorce needs to made illegal. When divorce and other immoral actions started becoming more complacent and “just a natural part of life” that is when the sanctity of marriage, as you put it, blew out the window.

As a group of people, it is discrimination to tell “a group of people” that they cannot get married. Tell minorities that they cannot get married. I bet it wouldn’t be as easy to discriminate against them as it is to discriminate against gay people.

During all this, I was in a Bible study, and the reasons they were giving for gays to not marry, was that if they are allowed then people will be able to marry plants and animals. I think/believe that ignorance (which is a true reason behind discrimination) is the true reason for your discrimination.

I have not/will not degrade you or your beliefs, but I ask you why you believe you have a right to degrade others?

When exactly did supporters of gay marriage decide that those of us who disapprove are ignorant, intolerant, bigoted and rude haters? We’re nothing of the sort. We’re not hurling slurs at you…why do you feel justified in doing this to us?

Seems the only “people” being judged here, are the ones that oppose gay marriage.

For your information I do have a gay niece 21, and a gay nephew 20!

Why make it about rather I accept them being gay or not? And above all why attack my religion over it? In effect, your discarding my own opinion because it somehow naturally should match yours?

According to your “views on christianity” it’s quite a miserable world? We are human, and we do make mistakes.. don’t take the sanctity of marriage and make it another one. It’s in bad enough shape the way it is.

Again it is just my opinion. I have every right to disagree with marriage between gays. As much as you have a right to believe it should be so.

Funny how the ones like Hooray and Miriam who are the bell tollers for morals probably go to the same church where priests molest young boys, have a husband cheating on them, or have pregnant teenage children. God is watching you and soon you will have a gar child or grandchild. Statistically speaking you can’t avoid it.

I’m so proud of the voters in Arizona, California and Florida for using common sense when voting to ban gay marriage. Gay people can have their civil unions and get protections, and they should be happy to have THAT much. It’s disgraceful to see them trampling all over traditional marriage. Their whining needs to end…they sound like spoiled children asking for something over and over again, only to be refused again and again.

“hooray” who the hell do you think you are!!?? Please tell me that you have NEVER been discriminated against in YOUR life. That no one has ever told you that you or your any of your ancestors have been told they can’t do something because of who they are or what they believe in. This is not a moral issue, a god issue, or even a gay issue, it is a rights issue. Who do you think you are to tell people they don’t have the right to be happy!? To me it seems that your morals are wrong because you continue to discriminate against people. Get your priorities in check!! P.S. I really hope you watch Ellen’s show. Maybe you will get a sense of what real people are like. You know, the ones that respect people and accept everyone for who they are. Take notes, it will help you one day!

Oprah won her contest, but at least Ellen didn’t win hers!

It’s comforting to know that a larger percentage of Americans actually still have some morals left. That most still believe that a union between a man and woman is truly the only right union.

If it ain’t broke, why fix it.
