'Twilight' Author Strictly PG

1118meyer.jpg

Stephenie Meyer is the brain behind the bloodthirsty vampires in "Twilight," but is it true Meyer has never seen an R-rated flick?!

This wacky rumor is true! The Mormon mom of three confessed to Entertainment Weekly she doesn't watch R-rated motion pictures! Her inspiration apparently didn't come from "Interview with the Vampire." The Phoenix native wrote the "Twilight" series after it came to her in a dream.

The Mormon Church does not have a written rule about viewing R-rated movies.

It’s not like R rated films are that great. I don’t think any church would really want their followers to be watching most of the stuff out there.

ExtraFan,

Well nothing in Mormonism is really more than a suggestion; no one is forced to do anything. I’m sure I could find a written article in the Church magazines specifically counseling against watching R-rated movies. By the way, I’m a big fan of this counsel. I can’t begin to say how grateful I am that I’ve been spared from watching many a Hollywood crap-fest. Gigli? Never even thought about seeing it. :)

JDD,

It is not written. It is suggested. It is different.

Spelling fail…its Stephenie not Stephanie. Nice fact checking.

This article suggests the LDS (“Mormon”) Church has no official position re. R-rated movies. That is not correct. In fact, the LDS (“Mormon”) Church has specifically requested that its members not watch R-rated movies.
