Oprah: I Am So Happy Now!

Millions of people looked on as Oprah tearfully cheered as Barack Obama won the White House -- and moments later, a still-emotional Winfrey shared her elation with "Extra."

1105oprahaj.jpg

"I am just so happy now," said Oprah. "I was saying to people 20 months ago, 'You don't want to be on the wrong side of history'... I would have lost my soul if I had not stood up for Barack Obama and it was worth everything for me to do it."

The talk show queen added, "It feels like something big and bold has happened here... Like nothing ever in our lifetimes!" Oprah regularly stumped for the Illinois senator, and reveals that she has kept in touch with Barack via email. "I don't speak to him as much as we email. I'm just hoping the email address doesn't change!"

"Extra's" AJ Calloway was among the revelers in Grant Park as history was made, and he ran into Winfrey in the strangest of places -- outside the Porta Potty!

Ironically, Oprah dishes to Calloway that her Porta Potty visit was a first! "In all these years at every event, I've said, 'No, no, no.' I'm not going to do the Porta Potty... but tonight, I said I better use it."

Black and proud, YOU are the one who does not understand. And, why don’t YOU stop all YOUR crap! YOU do not understand what people of other backgrounds went thru in their. You are not the only one. I originally was for Obama but I read his books, listened to what he had to say and decided that Hilary was the more QUALIFIED candidate, more EXPERIENCED candidate. She lost the nomination and I went for the OTHER candidate that has years of experience in the senate,& has a very good idea of what war is all about. SO do NOT call me a racist!!!!! YOU do NOT know me. YOU also know NOTHING about the Jewish people. IF they got paid, it was NOT from this country. All I am trying to get across is that some voters DID make it all about race, not about who is the most qualified..I heard people say they are voting for Obama because he is cute, handsome, or because he is black. ALL bad reasons to vote for someone. It should be based on the issues period. Not to make history! And just in case you did not know, the Ku Klux Klan is not a fan of the Jewish people..blacks and Jews are their list of people they do not like. AND their are still “white” people who do not like Jews either. I lived down south for awhile and I saw it first hand. So maybe YOU need to sit down and try and understand things from someone else’s point of view and don’t be so quick to call someone a racist that you do not even know!!!!! You have no idea what background I am from, what religion I am or even what color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jakemax,

You are racist!!!!!!!!

You really need to stop all this crap. A qualified man has been elected president whether he is black or white it really should not matter.

Get over it!!!!!!!1Get a life!!!!!!!!Move on!!!!!!!!!

Black people has and still are treated very poorly by white people and for you to dismiss it as if selling people, chaining people up including innocent kids and selling them to the highest bidder, can’t use certain washrooms, sitting in the back of buses, hanged, lynched, belittled for no reason and the list goes on as nothing, you are sadly mistaken, so if BLACK people are happy to see how far another black person can reach after what their parents, grandparents has gone through and for you to expect them not to react, that tells me alot about your mentality. You are a closed minded individual.

This will be my last post. I don’t think that you are open minded enough understand what all of this means to some black people.

You really need to let this one go. No one is a winner. We just need to try and understand each other an accept the fact that we are different people with different views and opinions.

That is how it is supposed to be but that is not how it is.
Again, I am not knocking McCain but if the shoe was on the other foot, Obama would be a non-entity.
You are not listening and that is half the problem. Read what I wrote again and stop looking for the controversy.

annonymous…see, that should not be the case. Anyone should be able to get where they want to be if they strive for it enough. John McCain may not have been the greatest student, but he learned to fly a fighter plane, which most of us cannot do. He knows enough to be a Senator which most us do not so being at the bottom of his class meant nothing. He just strived and wanted something bad enough and that is how it should be for everyone no matter what their background is. You have to want something bad enough to go for it.

See there Jakemax, this is a matter of perspective. This remark was not made to down John McCain. I personally think he is a pretty stand up guy. My remark was made to say that if the black nominee had these attributes, he would not have been a contender. My whole point is that blacks are so excited about this man because blacks have to meet the highest standards to be even considered. White men do not have this issue. That is very telling of America.

Shannon, just because someone finished at or near the bottom of their class does not mean anything. Just because someone left their wife for someone else means nothing either. People are not perfect and EVERYONE makes mistakes.
Someone can be the worst student and rise above it to make something of themselves. Obviously John McCain is not too dumb or he would not have been a Senator and especially for as long as he has been one. He is way smarter than alot of people I know. Some do not have book knowledge but have great knowledge of things that are going on in this world.
I know those who have book smarts but have no common sense at all.

McNee, you are right. It is not wrong! The fact that you voted is all about right!

Keep voting people…if you don’t like it…change it!

All you anonymous posters are bogus.

Both sides are right.

Yes, a lot of black democrat people backed a black president. What are you people…morons. If it was Clarence Thomas, you can best believe he would not have gotten the black vote. You people act like it is wrong for blacks to stand behind a man that was saying all the right things (politicians ALL seem to do that), a black man that wanted to help the middle class, a black man that was a Harvard Law School graduate and not the mention THE president of the Harvard Law Review. I do not believe that he would have been supported by blacks if he was just a vietnam war veteran that placed among the last of his graduating class. He would not have had that support if he left his crippled wife after she waited for him while a pow and then divorced her for a new, younger, prettier, richer wife.

Yes, Barack is half white…so what. There were and are millions of blacks with white parents. Millions more had white parents that did not claim them and used them as personal living blow up dolls. I love Baracks white parents. THEY ARE AWESOME!!! So get over it people.

You people need to be honest with yourselves. Your issue with that man is because he is BLACK!!! Most Democrats oppose abortion. Most Democrats want to help those in need. Most Democrats are LIBERALS. Gosh, you all make me sick. GET OVER THE BLACK THING!!! If it didn’t bother you about his being black then you would not feel so adamant about putting down those who voted for him because he is black. Package it any way you want…there are racial bias against everyone and most of it stems from the fact that they are not light enough. Latins not liking Latins because they are not light enough or too light. Indians not liking Indians because they are not light enough or too light and on and on and on. Who says White is right and I am not saying that it is wrong either. I am just tired of all the bitching so stop doing it please.

Let’s get together and get this country together. At least Obama is trying to make the ins and out of the government transparent. At least he wants us all to be a part of the process.

Get over this crap. Move on and Move up.

Anna, THANK YOU for your response to Black and Proud. She has no clue whatsover what the Jewish people went through..they went through more than anyone and twice. What they went through under Hitler was despicable..no one should ever go through that because of race, religion, etc. Black and Proud needs to google the name Huntley Brown and read why he did not vote for Obama. And also, Maya Angelou’s FIRST choice for President was Hilary Clinton. There are black people MAKING this all about race. One the news last week, some people had an American flag that said Black America on it. Anyone who posts on here and says it is “their time” ARE the ones making it all about race, especially those who keep wanting to say Obama is African American, which he is NOT. His father was, but not him. I do NOT care if the leader of our country is catholic, of Indian descent or purple or blue, etc. I do not think anyone of any background should be making it a race issue. Obama is for ALL people and for anyone who accuses ME of making it an issue of race, then YOU are the racist! And to HUH?, thank YOU for your words as well defending me.

You’re ridiculous black and proud. I’m not Jewish but what you said about them getting paid is so insulting. You have some nerve claiming it makes it ok that people received money…shows where your mind is…only on the money and your color. What happened during the Holocaust can in no way be compared to what anyone in this world has gone through. Who sold Africans into slavery? Fellow Africans! If you go to Europe there is no African-English or African-Italian, its your English, or Spanish or German, etc. Its about pride in the COUNTRY you are born in and live in. I’ll say it again, if you want racism to stop it has to be a joint effort all around. I want to my kids to learn about everyone all year round, not Black History month…it should be months about the world every month of every year, and then no more black miss America…we are all Americans and should all be noticed as such. Also, did any one else read the piece from the Senator in Georgia saying Obama’s system is like Hitler’s…I completely agree…Heaven help us!

””“”“” And for all of you Oprah haters, she is a personal friend of Obama and is also intitled to her opinion, “It’s still a free country” freedom of speech” so if she is excited and happy for him so WHAT? “”“”“”

You come in here boasting and preaching and telling people to not only believe your own rhetoric of an “opinion”, but sign each one of your post with you’re over-whelming pride of being black?

Is your under-lying reason for that to make white people feel ashamed? Less than? Responsible? I don’t quite understand your soap box speech…?

Then you call jakemax “racist” simply because he differs an opinion? Is it purely impossible for a black person to be a “racist”? Just curious.

I’m happy that you feel Obamas win was necessary to make you feel some sense of pride? Something to make you proud, boastful, and what-not. But I am ashamed of your own negativity toward Ms. Palin, George Bush, and John McCain?? (all of whom are white) and your quick judgment to dismiss their “intelligence”?

I pitty no races, I feel sorry for the less fortunate, but pitty isn’t gonna solve anything, let alone help any situation.

Division of people is what comes from degrading another human being. Calling someone a “racist” can no longer hold water in this day of having elected a bi-racial President. If not for all races, this would not be our President.

JAKEMAX, you are repulsive to say the least. I knew that you would be the first to comment on what I posted. You really need to educate yourself in history before you can even have the gall to talk or comment on anyone from an African decent. The Jewish race constantly talks about the Holocaust and besides you guys got paid and was acknowledged as a race for your struggle and your suffering not the African Americans who also suffered as well as other races. I think you must be a racist because you are too consumed with the African Americans and what they have gone through, but plesaeeeeeeeeee educate yourself before posting these negative comments. Obama won and guess what, he will be our bi-racial president for the next 4 years which gives me hope, so if that irritates you I don’t know what advise to give you. I am so troubled and disgusted because it’s people like you that makes this world so divided. You need to stop with all this negative comments and embrace people for who and what they are. GOD made us all!!!!!!!!

Read an article that Carrie Underwood wrote yesterday and I agreed with her that celebritieis NEED to keep their political opinions and endorsements to themsevles. We all know that there are people out there who do not or cannot think for themselves so they follow a celebrity that they like. As for Obama, is bi racial…he is a much white as he is black. His white mother and white grandparents are the ones who raised him. Oh, and Obama NEVER bashed McCain and Palin? PLEASE!!!! I have heard Obama make fun of McCain so please do not tell me he did not bash him.

- jakemax

I am a black woman and proud of it. I am also proud of OBAMA’s accomplishments and elected President not because he is black but because he was the smarter, intelligent person that was running. He was focus and did not see a need to bash anyone. McCain and Palin lost because they were not focus on the task that Americans wanted change due to what Bush has done to the economy among other things, so if they were the smarter, intelligent ones that did not need to resort to bashing Obama maybe they would be the ones elected. The other reason for McCain losing was because he choose Palin who was definately not ready to be A VP for any country which is soooooooooo obviously.

I think all these negative comments need to stop. I think we need to give President Obama a chance to see what he can do. He definately cannot do any worst!!!!!!!!!!

And for all of you Oprah haters, she is a personal friend of Obama and is also intitled to her opinion, “It’s still a free country” freedom of speech” so if she is excited and happy for him so WHAT?

All this has been unbelievable. Oprah also lost me as a viewer when she started her Internet church, deceiving millions of people. All we have heard is the word racist, and now, I think we see WHY many people voted—race. The country is split 52/48. No white, yellow, or other presidential candidate could have never won with all the ambiguity hanging on him like it did OBama. We have seen candidates destroyed because he could not spell potato correctly. “This one” had no problem because his money, the media, and his race pushed him over the goal. He started his run on Oprah’s couch.

‘You don’t want to be on the wrong side of history’

No matter how you voted, how can making a democratic choice be “wrong”?

Oprah lost me as a fan when she started the “church of Oprah”. I can understand the black community’s elation with the election of Obama, but not everyone is the fan she is!
