Who Should Play Barack Obama?

1014obama.jpg

The Democratic senator has fans in Tinseltown ranging from Oprah to Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel -- and now stars are sounding-off on who should play Barack on the big screen!

"Will Smith would be great as Obama," P. Diddy dishes. Ben Stiller agrees, saying, "He'd be amazing."

Is Will ready to accept the nomination to play the Illinois senator? "You got to wait for Barack to write the third act," Will says, "so as soon as he writes the third act of the script, we'll get working."

Some of the other top candidates to play Barack include Don Cheadle and Denzel Washington. Tell "Extra" -- in a movie about Barack Obama, who would you cast as the presidential hopeful?

Is your favorite not on the list? Write a comment below -- and tell "Extra" who would be perfect for the role.

I got the whole role set up for his mvie I thought about it .Barack Obama should be played by Harry Lennix(Dresser rom the five heartbeats) he got the voice and the looks for Michelle Obama it should be the world renowned Angela Bassett and for the two daughters the two youngest girls from dady’s little girls China and Lauren McLain and that is it

I think for once, it would be so much more interesting to find an unknown actress who not only has great acting chops but also looks like Michelle Obama! When an actor plays a character they do not resemble, yes, they can play that role but you don’t get swept up into the character as much as when the actor actually looks like the character. Jamie as Ray. Ben Kingsley as Ghandi. Makes a HUGE differene in the product! Why do we always have to see the same usual suspects (Halle, Angela, Gabrielle, Regina and now Taraji) playing every single part?? Box office draw is no excuse! If the movie is well made and compelling, it won’t make one dime of a difference at the box office if the actress who plays Michelle is an unknown and paired with a ‘known’ actor playing Barack (i.e. Harry Lennix who is the closest resemblance, Hill Harper probably knows the story best, but in the end…Will gets what Will wants! Note to any filmmaker thinking about doing a feature on The Obamas: Find an unknown Michelle matched with a known Barack to create the next classic romance film!!!

Peter Francis James who played Rosa Parks’ husband in The Rosa Parks story is a ringer for obama. For Michelle, either Gabrielle Union or Regina King would be great.

Logically speaking, a movie about Barack Obama probably won’t be made until maybe 10-20 years from now. Denzel and Will will be too old by then so you need a youner actor. BUMPER ROBINSON- no doubt!

Please there are so many unsung black men that can act besides those same old faces. Give me a break. There are two great choices that would be perfect to play president elect-obama.
First:
Harry J. Lennix has the talent and for sure he has the perfect face.
Second choice: Phil Morris.
Let’s give others brothers equal billing.

I DON’T WANT TO SEE WILL SMITH AS OBAMA!!!!! Harry Lennix (5 Heartbeats) was born to play that role. Richard Dreyfuss would make a perfect McCain, and Diane Keaton or Dianne Wiest would do well as Hillary Clinton. Cast (or re-cast) John Travolta as Bill Clinton, or for that matter, how about David Morse to play another former President? Jeff Bridges for Joe Biden for sure, George Lopez in a cameo as Gov. Bill Richardson, and I’ll leave Sarah Palin to y’all (just not Tina Fey - she was perfect, but it’s played now and I’m sure with the glasses there are more qualified choices)… Oh yeah, Tangi Miller for Michelle Obama…

Wentworth Miller is “The Man”. He is a great talent and would do justice to the portrayal of a great man such as Barack Obama. Wentworth has been on numerous dramas, such as Joan of Arcadia, and was the first guest actor on Ghost Whisperer. I beg all of you out there rent the movie “The Human Stain”, and you will be convinced he is the one to play Barack Obama.

the people who think that will smith should play obama, don’t know who kristoff st. john is…emmy winner, great actor. and played denise huxtable’s boyfriend “david” in the 80s. look at pics of obama at columbia u and then look at that old episode of the cosby show. kristoff is the splitting image of obama as a teen and would look just like him as an adult.

Wentworth Miller is my choice. He exudes the intelligence and intensity needed to play Barack Obama. I love Will Smith, but he lacks the deepness needed for this part. Wentworth Miller may not be on the A-list yet, but he is a great actor.

I completely agree with those who suggested Harry Lennix. He is perfect! We loooove Will, but he and Denzel are not the only capable black actors in Hollywood. Another great candidate would be Wentworth Miller who also has a white mother and black father like Barack. He could play a younger Barack. He would have to wear brown contact lenses and change the hair a bit, but they can do amazing things in Hollywood. They have both worked togehter in the past on a move called The Human Stain. It is a great movie and I suggest that anyone who hasn’t checked it out to do so. It tells the sotry of many people in this country-including my own grandfather. These two gentleman would be perfect! Also,Tasha Smith would be a perfect Michelle Obama!

I strongly believe the part should go for Harry J. Lennix, not Will Smith or any other typical actor. I mean no offense, he’s good and all but it’s time to see new faces on the big screen and Harry Lennix not only favors Barack but he speaks like him. Also, Regina King should play Michelle.

Bumper Robinson…he was instantly the first person to jump to my mind when I first saw Obama years ago. They look very similar, could pass for close siblings.

I think Harry Lennix from the “5 Heartbeats” should play Barak Obama. He is very handsome and has what it takes to pull the roll off. Hollywood is going to have to be really careful with this part. It deserves the best!

Aubrey Graham from Degrassi:The Next Generation as a young Obama and Kristoff St. John as the Obama of today.

No harm done Carol, and anyone big enough to apologize to me for any reason, I am big enough to not only accept that apology but also add that I am sorry as well! These are very tense times we’re in, and we’re simply not gonna get through them unless we all work on things together! I don’t “hate” Obama I absolutely HATE NO ONE! I dislike some, but hatred is such a waste of energy and time. May the best suited candidate win the Presidency, and thanks for the ‘debate’ that we had! lol. Peace and Good Will to you as well MY FRIEND! (but I’m still not voting for Obama ;) )lol.

John, looks like you don’t know what socialism mean yourself,if you gotta keep asking me, at any rate, I guess we both don’t have a life, because we are still posting comments to something that happen days ago. I’m not sour about anything, we both have our opinion, so why all the name calling. I hope McCain does win, because I fear for Obama & his family life. He has been getting so many threats and people like me that have been supporting him are getting beat up and talk about daily. So I really hope McCain gets his way. I hope this makes you feel better to try and be little me a over a simple statement. McCain should have put you on payroll. Take care “MY FRIEND”
