Stephen Baldwin Dishes on Palin 'SNL' Spoof

1021baldwin.jpg

During her "Saturday Night Live" spot this weekend, Sarah Palin joked to Alec Baldwin that his brother Stephen is her favorite in the Baldwin family -- and Stephen tells "Extra" that he's ready to be the Alaska governor's go-to guy.

"After Joe the Plumber and all the hype he's getting, it's making me think that to be the number one Republican kind of poster boy, I have to challenge Joe the Plumber to a UFC Smackdown," jokes the "Shark in Venice" star.

Stephen told "Extra" he thought Palin was on her mark during her sketch, saying, "I thought she was hilarious, a good sport... I think McCain was brilliant in choosing Sarah Palin because now 'SNL's' ratings this past Saturday were the highest in fourteen years."

He adds, "You could bet your backside that Lorne Michaels is going to accept her invitation... She's already said she'd be glad to do it again."

Baldwin also admits he's backing the GOP ticket, stating that Palin "is fantastic and more qualified to potentially be V.P. than another individual; maybe to be president." Stephen praised the Republican competition, saying, "Barack Obama is a brilliant man, very talented, very intelligent... It's my opinion John McCain is the better choice. More experience to be president."

Brother Alec is wholeheartedly supporting Barack Obama for president.

I’m a Democrat who does not vote for just anyone that is on the democratic ticket. They have to be trustworthy and have some experience. But Obama just doesn’t. He actually scares me. I totally agree with John’s statement posted earlier, we just don’t know enough about Obama or where he comes from. So he will not have my vote.

I dont care if Palin spent to much on a clothes or Mcain or if you used her influence and position to have her brother n law fired nor do I care about Acorn and Obama. I know we have immediate ISSUES in this COUNTRY regarding the economy, potential nuclear missles in other countries and that we are no longer have great foreign supporters across the world. I WANT TO KNOW which one has the better plan and is better in commuicating with the other countries to mend the broken ties that Bush stepped on during his Cowboy reign! We need a great economic plan, someone who will sit in room with other country diplomats and calmly work with them to rebuild relationships that will benefit the US in the long run! I dont understand! You had 4 years and you placed a man in office who has created more issues now than before he was in office. Then, instead of owning it and getting someone new in office you just knew you were right to vote him in and elected him yet again! There needs to be a new change and choice, two mistakes has cost this country enough, lets try another route for hope that its not to late!

John who posted at 8:24 am. You hit every nail on the head regarding Ayers, Rev Wright, etc. Acorn is paying people with cigarettes and $20 to register to vote. Sounds like someone is trying to buy votes. No association with Ayers? REALLY! Then why did he host a fund raiser in your living room years ago? Yes, Obama does smile and looks down when cornered. I wish someone would wipe that stupid grin off his face. I admit, at first I was going to vote for him. I did my research as I never have before on any candidate, read one of his books, listened to him and others. I quickly changed my mind. How did he afford law school, going back to where he was born to visit family. How come his records from law school are sealed? Obama’s words are just that..words. He has charisma and talks smooth but no substance. He just keeps spending money on negative campaign ads against McCain. And the celebrities who have jumped on the Obama bandwagon starting with Oprah. Interesting that right after she publicly endorsed him, her ratings went down. Just because you have big $$$, keep your opinions to yourself. Award shows are no place for politics. Do what everyone else does..just go vote and don’t subject the working class to your biased opinions. What do you know about running a country? Being famous does not make any of you an expert. Far from it. You are no Arnold Schwartzenager. He has more sense than all of Hollywood combined.

Obama is calling ACORN a “distraction”. Obama is calling Bill Ayers a “distraction”. For me, the TRUE distraction is when Barack Obama is cornered with questions about his past, and past acquaintences, he quickly turns to the issues at hand (economy, taxes, 8-more years of Bush) INSTEAD of giving any solid answers? He dances everytime! He smiles really big, just like his VP Candidate Mr. Biden, and LOOKS DOWN? To me, I read that as ‘something to hide’… and only causes distrust! Why is it seemingly not important to the media to know about this mans HISTORY?? Why is it dismissed as John McCain coming accross as “angry”? Obama is a smooth and talented speaker,.. he is a lawyer after all. He definately knows how to “inspire” and has that “charisma” that people just get lost in. What people are actually lost in is his WORDS. “Just Words”. A lot of us are still asking ourselves some very basic questions. Who is this guy, I never heard of him even a year ago? How do you spend 20 years in an anti-white anti-american church and conveniently dis-associate and disagree with the preacher whom has preached his message so long (rev. Wright)? How do you conveniently become a “past friend” of a known Terrorist (Bill Ayers)? How exactly do you become qualified, and remotely deserve to be President after only THREE years in the Senate, and having never served in the U.S. Military? If you’re like me, you’re STILL waiting for some straight answers from Barack Huesein Obama on such questions, and here we are only TWO weeks from electing a President. One thing I certainly know? That I not for even ONE MOMENT question the Patriotic Spirit of one John Sidney McCain.

This is so refreshing to hear….a celebrity that did not bash Sarah…Stephen you are a class act! By the way I am a democrat and I am ashamed of the way most of the celebrities have been bashing Sarah and the republican party….they have really abused their media access to the public.

What?? A calm, cool, and collected Republican making his choice known for President. Didn’t know there were any “republican celebs”..? Where do all these liberal networks, talk shows, tabloid tv shows hang out, at democratic headquarters? And with a simple factual statement no less?? Kudos to Stephen for pointing out what everyone else knows in their hearts already.. “experience makes a difference”. Don’t buy the MEDIA HYPE, and certainly don’t let the media OR celebrities make your voting choice. Do some HOMEWORK, learn more about these two people wanting to run your country! It is YOUR responsibility.

Lavern, you certainly do have a point; I’m a republican who’s pro-gay marriage, and pro-choice, only because they seem like common-sense personal choice issues to me. I’d NEVER put down anyone who was in disagreement w/ my views, and I really don’t think it’s anyone’s business necessarily, where a candidate stands on these issues. A perfect ex: Mayor Giuliani is personally pro-life, but he also believes that each individual has the right to be pro-choice!(some actually had the nerve to call that ‘flip-flopping’) Anyway, that being said, the democrats who happen to be running for pres/vice pres, are extremely liberal - too much for my comfort. But that’s my opinion.

I wonder if Stephen Baldwin’s support for Palin and McCain have anything to do with Sarah’s crush on her? Alec is my favorite Baldwin brother! Forget it, Stephen!

Not all Democrats are liberal and not all Republicans are conservative stop this false view.

Good for YOU, STEPHEN BALDWIN!!! We need more like you, who are not afraid to open their mouths as REPUBLICANS. He obviously does not give a flying fik what ANYONE thinks, and that’s the way it should be - that’s how it is for the libs, why not the conservatives?

Chris, I’ve asked myself that question for years. I think the dem celebs feel they have an absolute right to act any way they like, including bullying and intimidating those who dare oppose them. The republican celebs, (and BTW, all the reps. I happen to know), may strongly disagree w/ liberal politics, but are never NEARLY as hateful, and while they might not get why someone is lib., they know it’s their right to be so. They’re secure enough in their choices; they don’t need to have the WHOLE WORLD agree in order to feel validated.

Why is that the hollywood Democrats are offensive, hostile and over the top with their hate, and the hollywood Republicans are respectful and sensible? Or is just that the cameras are pointed in the ignorant celeb’s directions?
