Palin and McCain: $150K Makeovers!

1022palin.jpg

From lipstick on a pitbull -- to designer duds on a hockey mom! The GOP has spent $150 grand on "campaign accessories" -- including clothing, hair and makeup -- since Sarah Palin joined the Republican ticket as the VP candidate!

Palin has been gussied up by her party with $4,700 worth of hairdos and makeup in the past month alone! The expensive makeovers triggered a heated discussion on "The View" today, where Joy Behar blasted the GOP spending, saying, "I don't think Joe the Plumber wears Manolo Blahniks!" Conservative hostess Elisabeth Hasselbeck slammed back, "Are you looking into how much Joe Biden's Botox costs?"

Right-wing radio host Bill O'Reilly echoed Elisabeth's defense, blasting Joy Behar. "Your name is Joy! You should be joyful!" Bill then went on the offense against Senator Obama, saying, "He's a communist. Did I offend you? Okay, he's a socialist."

McCain spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt defended the shopping sprees today. "With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign."

Sarah wasn't the only one getting pampered by the Republican Party -- Arizona Senator John McCain reportedly spent a whopping $8,600 on a professional makeup artist during September.

Of course it isn’t a big issue if you are Republican. But Palin is supposed to be a fiscal conservative. Did she really need to spend that much money on a “makeover”, especially when McCain supporters are crying about Obama’s “buying the election”?

Why is there no report on what is spent on Obama and Biden’s wardrobe ????? Oh that’s right they are Democrats, huh?

$150,000 is about as much as Michelle’s raise!

Only fools in America would’nt think spending 150g on clothes when many, many people can’t even send their kid to daycare because of the economy. If Sarah can’t look good in $150 suit like us Joe Plummers’ than what’s the first possible thing she’ll do in a White House, spend 500g on her kids socks. And for people who believe others are jealous of people with money, you need to wake up too; people with money more likely get and stay where they are by living off people with no money. Are you kidding me. We’re in a country pit hole now people, who in the world would even think to spend that much money, gee. I’m a hockey mom and wondering how I’m going to get practice pucks for my kid; maybe I’ll call Sarah so she can send me a puck with gold trimmings, HELLO.

I think in this economic time, the Republicans have no right to spend that kind of money. I hadn’t planned on voting for them anyway. If I had , I would be so outraged that that would be enough to turn me against them. Perhaps the “Hockey Mom” should learn to sew. Talk about out of touch……

This is not a surprise to me at all. Sarah is so two faced, she says one thing out of the corner of her mouth and does exactly the opposite. She should have refused the money and donated it to a family that needed it. Perhaps one with a special needs child!

Whether we disagree or agree with the republicans, the fact of the matter is that spending the amount of money the RNC has apent on Sarah Palin and her family for a “makeover” under scores the remarkable differences between what one considers “too much” and others don’t see the problem. In this economy where millions are struggling to simply put gas in the car, heat in the house, milk on the table or to stop and pick up a prescription because they no longer can afford these simple basics, it is easy to see why people are up in arms over the “over the top” duds.

Please cover both parties. Michelle Obama went out and spent over 300,000 for her wardrobe when Obama started running for President. Where did this money come from? See what happens when you don’t have to take the money just like all the presidential contenders have done since Watergate? Obama can spend all this money he had donated from hidden sources and buy clothes for his wife and a big house for his family and no one reports on it.
It would have been very unfair for Palin to be wearing clothes needed for the Alaskian climate while she was running for VP. She should not have to go into debt to pay for these clothes. She is a working mother with 5 children. We judge woman differently than men and the Republican Party did the right thing. Now lets get the mainstream media to investigate the truth! I have never seen an election before where the candidate will be elected by the manipulation of news by the press. This election has been a fraud from the coverage of the press to the motto of “vote early and vote often”.
Please bring back the days when the press was fair and balanced you could not tell what candidate they wanted to win!

Why don’t you ask the same question about Obama and his family? Why the double standards with Dems and Republicans? No,$150,000 is not too much or near the amount one would think a candidate in a national election would spend. Where did Obama get all his campaign funds? Now, is that a good question? Thanks. Love, Joy

Relax, EXTRA! Look what you spend on foolish movie and tv stars to make them look good!

Have you heard about the Obamas ordering caviar, champagne and loster from room service while campaigning? Is that what campaign funds were earmarked for??? Why don’t you report that story?
Quit being so biased toward DEMS.

Wonder how much Obama spent to hold a “rally” in a football stadium. Wonder how much the previous first ladies spent on clothing - and they weren’t running for this ungrateful, who would want it job. The DNC has spent WAAAAAY more on Obama & Family - McCain/Palin will NEVER catch them! The realy issue? What company do you know that would promote a guy to president after 143 of work? Obama showed up for 1/2 the votes while Senator - and everyone (at least the bad guys) in the middle east is hoping to see him in the White House - wonder why?

Sarah has my vote, not because she spent a fraction of what Hollywood spends for a Sunday brunch, but because I share her viewpoint.

Well, at least we know the Democrats are not having it too bad, no economic problems like jobs or housing and everything is all good with them or the $150,000 spent on the Palin family wardrobe wouldn’t be top priority on your show or the news. Of course, this is not a huge amount and will never compare to what the Obama’s spend…but of course, you’ll never comment on that or give us an amount to debate like Palin. When you have nothing else to worry about, that’s when you spend time on Palin. Thank you. Love, Joy :)

Why is everybody so jealous of people who have money? Why do you feel it’s their responsibility to use their money to support those who don’t work? If the wealthy didn’t spend money, nobody would have jobs which produce the things they buy, or the services they pay for? Nobody is using TAX dollars for their clothing, hair, make-up or ads. It’s either their own money, or contributions made by their supporters. Get a life, get a job and quit yer complaining!

Evidently the Democrats are having a good life and no economic worries since a mere $150,000 is top priority on their concern list. Come on, housing, jobs…well, isn’t this typical of how slanted things are in this Presidential debate. Does a Democrat ever get raked over the coals about how much they spend or how much they expect you to give of your paycheck so some people won’t have to work and you can support them or just take your money in higher taxes and buy the Obama’s some really nice things since I’m so sure they buy their clothes from Walmart….NOT. You know very well you will never get an amount the Obama’s pay for anything and I don’t hear you having a contest to find out where Obama gets his campaign funds from since he didn’t live up to what he said when he said he would take public funding and reveal where he got it if McCain would and McCain did and Obama didn’t live up to his word…Do we hear one word about it, no, of course not, you are so biased for Obama, that’s the reason you have this post for comments on the subject you are reporting on….What does $150,000 for clothing for Palin and/or her family….How about asking and proving how much Obama spends on one suit or how much does his wife spend on one outfit…This is a Presidental campaign, remember that’s a national issue to all of us and it is highly appropriate for her to look decent or you would be calling her a redneck like Pa. people are called if they don’t like Obama. Be fair and bring on some info about the expenditures of the Obama’s. Thank you. Love, Joy :)

It’s really surprising how Extra is so outraged by Sara’s wardrobe cost… especially since it reports on movie stars who spend $150K on a single ring. You guys did a wonderful job in convincing me that Sara Palin is a witch. How typical of the Liberal Left Media. Unfortunatly for you, I have a brain to think for myself. And it leaves me thinking of how much michelle and barack’s wardrobe costs.
