Palin and McCain: $150K Makeovers!

1022palin.jpg

From lipstick on a pitbull -- to designer duds on a hockey mom! The GOP has spent $150 grand on "campaign accessories" -- including clothing, hair and makeup -- since Sarah Palin joined the Republican ticket as the VP candidate!

Palin has been gussied up by her party with $4,700 worth of hairdos and makeup in the past month alone! The expensive makeovers triggered a heated discussion on "The View" today, where Joy Behar blasted the GOP spending, saying, "I don't think Joe the Plumber wears Manolo Blahniks!" Conservative hostess Elisabeth Hasselbeck slammed back, "Are you looking into how much Joe Biden's Botox costs?"

Right-wing radio host Bill O'Reilly echoed Elisabeth's defense, blasting Joy Behar. "Your name is Joy! You should be joyful!" Bill then went on the offense against Senator Obama, saying, "He's a communist. Did I offend you? Okay, he's a socialist."

McCain spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt defended the shopping sprees today. "With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign."

Sarah wasn't the only one getting pampered by the Republican Party -- Arizona Senator John McCain reportedly spent a whopping $8,600 on a professional makeup artist during September.

Here we go again. You know - to me it speaks volumes that she really is a “normal” person who didn’t have designer suits and gowns when she came on board. Didn’t I see on this very site that Michele Obama had different designer gowns when out at fundraisers? What the heck? I realize they were probably given to the Messiah’s wife by adoring servants in the fashion industry. Palin had to pay for hers. No special favors here!

By the way - a spokes person for the campaign stated that all of those suits were being donated to those in need after the election. Thanks to Amy for noting what Obama’s charitable giving has been thus far. Stupid…

It’s laughable the uproar the media has successfully started regarding Sarah and the nickel she spent. Compared to the Millions, (actually nearly 1 billion) that Obama has himself spent campaigning. Not to mention his wife Michelle and her elaborate way of life! But nevermind the over-whelming amount of money that the Obama campaign is wasting, he’s the messiah, and TV Media Trash shows should never utter any of his secrets. His money can also buy a whole lot of tight lips.

Before dis-crediting Sarah Palin and her ability to lead a nation as Vice President.. I’d suggest you do at least a little bit of actual HOMEWORK and compare Barrack Heussein Obama’ resume’ with that of the Alaska Governor. Big difference IS that Obama is running for President, and Sarah VP! And by all means stop letting the Television make lazy decisions that you yourself should be making.

Well…if we’re going to talk about spending…let’s be fair ——-

SOME of Obama’s expenditures (keep in mind that this is only a few catagories out of the over $650 million he’s raised thus far) ——-

Salaries & Benefits $44,169,124

Travel $39,345,592 —— WOW! I’m sorry…what are we getting on Palin for? Oh yeah - $21,000 to keep her family with her on the campaign trail. Imagine - a mother of a new born with special needs keeping her family structured and together. I’m sorry…what’s the problem here???

Polling/Surveys/Research $21,500,862

Parties (Fed & Non-federal) $3,775,359 —- really? ONLY that much??

Fundr Direct Mail/Telemarketing $23,527,966

Broadcast Media $160,446,232 —— No wonder the media LOVES him!

Charitable Donations $26,455 —— KINDA SAD DON’T YOU THINK. And only two of the 15 contributions were to individuals! Ok…now that’s really sickening.

No Disclosure for where $14,136,800 was spent ——— hmmmmmm…maybe Michele Obama needed more lobster! Who knows!!!!

Gee, I wish I could spend that kind of money on a wardrobe. I have to worry about putting food on my table, a roof over my head, car payment, fuel oil to heat my home, and food for my dogs. It is real hard to do sence I got laid off from my job because of poor economy. How nice for them.

Palin is a joke!! i think that spending as much money as she has and will be on clothing and accessories is such a waste of money! is sad to see money being thrown away when the country is going through such a hard ship financially. putting her wardrobe discussion to the side, do you know how much money was lost from colorado schools when palin was visiting the rocky mountains?? many mothers decided to bring their children to see palin when she was in Colorado, BUT by taking their children out of school for the day, schools lost money. did you know that schools depend on having all or as many children in school to receive funding??

I agree with Sherry. We need journalism, not editorials.

So tell me, are you saying that Obama and his running mate have never spent money at Saks or bought a suit for an exorbitant amount of money? Show me both sides. Please be the stand up entertainment show I always thought you where and be fair and balanced.

I think that it is a known fact our Government has expensive taste and Sarahs wardrobe would not suffice her new position. Her Governors wardrobe could not have passed as the White House Level. People know what they did is no different than any other candidates we have seen, $300 dollar haircuts for example. If the clothing is going to be donated to Charities then that makes it a good thing. Good people will be able to get something lovely they couldn’t afford before. Media is way to harsh on Sarah, I feel it means that they fear her and its terribly interesting. She is a V.P. candidate. I want fair journalism for the sake of the US and the people who are voting. I don’t want gossip style reporting. Sarah Palin is prepared to do what it takes to do a good job as Vice President. She strikes me as a quick learner and a spirited warrior. Given a fair chance, we will all see.

First off, I’m so tired of the media painting the picture of Republicans being nothing but a bunch of stupid rednecks! Second, what is Extra’s problem with Sarah Palin? I watch this show often (I’ll be honest, hearing about all of the stupid things celebs do is a hoot). Lately there has been so much BS on Sarah Palin and then it goes right to how “wonderful” Obama is on the show. Cut the biased approach!!! Obama DEFINITELY has his fair share of negatives!!! Here’s a thought, if you’re going to bad mouth Palin & McCain, even the score out! THIRD…I don’t understand the problem you all have with her spending money for clothing (Obama was given money to spend for clothing and what have you as well, works both ways) when celebrities spend a LOT more on clothing than she does. If you’re going to go there, then why not have stories on air about how much celebrities spend in their daily budget (which is pretty disgusting, seriously they need to get over themselves)? As a TV program, it makes sense to appeal to your viewers…so then why is this program only appealing to democrats? Start covering BOTH sides of the story!!!!

Isn’t it nice to keep reading about these candidates and their spouses appearance bills toppling over 3 years of my salary as I struggle to find a job after layoffs, to keep heat in my home along with even keeping my home!! Where is the cutbacks for all of these folks?? Our nation is losing houses, pets, belongings, dignity and sometimes their lives as these folks waste more money on clothes that oh they will give to charity?? Um who really cares about a Neiman Marcus jacket, etc when they live on the streets w/no food!! Enough of the excess!! Lets pull together and get this nation back to a Godly nation who helps each other!!
