Darn; now everyone will have my beauty secret! Seriously, people never “get it” when I tell them I’m a vegan; somehow, they just don’t want to know that chicken and cheese are bad for them.

You rock, Dr. Barnard! Thanks for telling the truth—and thanks to Extra for having you on their show.

Thank you for your story on the vegan diet! I caught the story as I was flipping channels, but I will be a devoted Extra viewer now that I know you air such great, educational stories!

Thank you Extra for your report; even humans who don’t care about non-human sentient beings - maybe they’ll care about the environment for future generations; once you realize how humans treat animals - and the environment which so much affects non-human and human animals - you resolve to be at the least vegan!

Thank you for featuring Dr. Neal Bernard on your show! I’ve been vegetarian for over 15 years and near vegan for most. Everyone should be more conscious of what they eat, where it comes from and what it does to their bodies. There are many health, environmental and economical reasons to go veg! Thank you!

Thank you EXTRA for having on the wonderfully knowlegible Dr. Neal Bernard. In addition to being healthier, vegans tend to look much healthier than meat eaters. For those who are addicted to eating meat, reducing consumption of meat over a period of time might be the way to go.

It about time this happened. I think, therefore I am vegan. It is a no-brainer!

Thanks so much for your segment on the vegan diet! I became vegan 17 years ago out of compassion for animals with no idea of the health benefits that were to come. If you are concerned about animals, the environment or your own health, vegan is the way to go!

THANK YOU EXTRA & DR. BARNARD!!! For getting this information out. Meat is bad for humans, bad for animals and bad for the environment. Thank you so much for helping us all out!!!

i leave you with some quotes:

“Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for the survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.”
- Albert Einstein

“If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian.”
-Paul McCartney

“I became a vegetarian after realizing that animals feel afraid, cold, hungry and unhappy like we (humans) do.”
- Cesar Chavez

“If we so easily take the lives of animals who are only a few evolutionary steps from us, what is to prevent us from doing the same to humans.”
- Pete Singer

“I don’t like the idea of killing my fellow creatures in order to eat their dead bodies.”
- George Bernard Shaw

Thank you for having Neal Barnard on your show! My wife, two kids, and I have been vegan for 12 years and we are all happy and healthy. My kids are 10x healthier than their friends! Vegan is the way to go :)

Thanks for the vegan segment. I call myself a veganarian b/c I’m 100% vegetarian and mostly vegan.

I don’t do it for my health whatsoever; I do it because of compassion toward animals. However, the health benefits are definitely a bonus.

Because of Dr. Barnard I’ve lost 35 pounds (190 to 155) since I’ve gone vegan. I wasn’t ever really heavy. Now there’s no fat on me and hidden 6-pack abs that were lost for many years just came back. It’s ignorance that keeps most people fat and unhealthy.

Thank you EXTRA for airing this segment and Dr. Barnard for the information on the value of a vegan diet. I am a long-time vegetarian and am moving towards a vegan diet. The benefits to the people and the animals makes it all worthwhile!

Thank you EXTRA, for having Dr. Neal Barnard on your show. It is time that people realized just how bad meat can be for them and that there are many tasty alternatives that are much more healthy and not cruel to animals. Big factory farms abuse these poor animals and then slaughter them, without a thought of how they make these innocent creatures suffer. Money is all they care about. We all need to realize that our personal choices affect not only us, but many others, especially the innocent. It is time to stop this terrible treatment of animals and time for us to eat healthy.

What a great piece! I initially went vegetarian for animal rights reasons and then went vegan for health reasons. I have been vegan for 5 years and have never felt better. I lost 50 lbs, my skin cleared up, and I rarely get sick.

I love what Dr. Barnard has to say and would encourage Extra to interview Dr. T. Colin Campbell, one of the world’s leading experts on the influence of diet on cancer and other diseases. His recent book, The China Study, has shattered many commonly-held beliefs on the western diet and how one can actually cancer-proof themself.

Thanks so much for this great piece. Dr. Neal Barnard’s books have helped me to lose weight and stay healthy. My skin improved dramatically after I went vegan and I have more energy now.

I’ve been vegan for about a year and a half and I feel sooo good. Looking back, I can’t believe I used to eat all that JUNK. Vegan is definitely the way to go!!

Thanks so much for covering this important issue. Most people do not have any information about the health hazards of animal products in your diet. Most of all, the factory farming industry would like to keep this all a big secret so that they can keep making big bucks at the expense of sentient lives.
