I’d love to hear more about these plant-based diets - what is the best way to do it? More about the benefits - not just for health, but about using resources/energy (especially with energy consumption such a big deal now) I have new found interest in Extra! Bravo!

I’ve been Vegan for 5 months now. I have more energy and less cravings. I lost 15 pounds in the first 3 months. Now I’m holding steady at my ideal weight. Proactive health is obviously the solution. Wake up people! Thanks Dr. Bernard!

Adopting veganism was the best thing I ever did. Thank you for bringing attention to this wonderful way of life. Reject cruelty and exploitation, embrace health, life and love!

Thanks for airing this.
I went Vegan and lost 7 lbs in 5 weeks almost efortlessly, because I still ate treats and snacks; vegan ones.
Best of all, no animal suffers to feed me anymore!!

Thank you so much for the segment with Dr. Barnard. It’s really a public service that you’re offering given the increase in obesity, cancer, heart disease, etc in this country. I would encourage you to also interview John Robbins, author of The Food Revolution. I’ve been vegan for 2 years and, like the writer above have lost considerable weight, hand like her I haven’t been sick in 2 years and my skin is healthier than ever. Animal protein, including chicken, dairy and eggs wreak havoc on our bodies. Go Vegan for the animals, the environment, your health and to help end world hunger.

People who load up on dairy products even though they cut out meat will gain weight; even “lowfat” dairy products are high in calories. A vegan diet includes no dairy products.

Also, vegans that eat a lot of nuts and oils will probably gain weight. The good news is that it’s easier to maintain your weight on a vegan diet; dairy products are full of growth hormones and steroids—even if they don’t contain synthetic hormones like rBGH.

I’ve been vegan for 12 years, and i never get sick! I’ve also been working out and building muscle perfectly fine without the protein-obsession. Thanks Extra!
