Ellen Takes Aim at Palin

1022ellenpalin.jpg

Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres took aim at VP hopeful Sarah Palin's views on the legality of gay marriage.

"Vice presidential candidate, Governor Sarah Palin, says she favors a federal ban on gay marriage," Ellen said on her show today. "Basically, she wants to change The Constitution."

The Emmy-winning talk show hostess continued, "I don't like it. I don't agree. Maybe it's because I'm gay that I think we should all be equal, but I feel that we're all equal. I don't know what people are scared of -- maybe they think that their children will be influenced. I was raised by two heterosexuals, I was surrounded by heterosexuals -- and they didn't influence me."

DeGeneres ended with, "People are going to be who they're going to be, and we need to love them for who they are. That's that."

Ellen and longtime partner Portia de Rossi wed in an intimate Beverly Hills ceremony last August.

NEXT: Thursday: Cindy McCain Attacks the Obamas!

Earl - Judging from the majority of the comments here the real issues have been long lost.

Ticked off because Ellen shared her opinion? Really? Her make up is bad and Palin’s isn’t? Really? Palin’s wardrobe cost a bundle? Really?

How are any of those things going to effect your life after our new president is elected?

And honestly, is a married gay couple going to? How? If you’re so opposed to it are you going to have the couple to dinner? Hang out? Have any interaction? Not very likely.

If you form your opinions from what you hear and read and don’t do your own research, educate yourself and use your own brain, shame on you… enjoy your cave of ignorance, clearly you’ll have lots of company.

Following the flock leads to the whole flock going off a sharp, steep cliff. The past 8 years are proof positive of that.

Don’t get so fired up over a story on an entertainment website. Sheesh.

The word Terrorist is the new scare tactic. Remember when “Prison revolving doors” was the scare tactic.

Terriost is the new devisive word. It is the word that we use to scare people into war, the word we use to shut people up.

In this administration if you were in disagreement with the war or cited your own opion you were unamerican.

Well people it’s already started, the extended Republican agenda.
The word TERROR, are you scared yet?
RUN LETS GO TO WAR!

NOW AGAINST EACH OTHER….

Right…because us “straight” folks are such a great example of what marriage is supposed to be? Please!!! If anything, we make it a joke. At least gays appreciate and take marriage seriously. The real issue is acceptance and if you claim to be so religious, shouldn’t you love and accept people as they are? Isn’t GOD the ONLY one that is supposed to judge? Aren’t these rants the very thing we are NOT supposed to do? Seems incredibly hypocritical, no?

Does anyone find it odd that people think Ellen is such a great person, yet don’t think she should be legally married to her wife. Seems to me she is more deserving of happiness and love than most of us!!

First of all, I agree with Sarah Palin. As much as I like Ellen’s show, I disagree with her choices. Marriage is supposed to be between one man and one woman! Furthermore, people are talking about the government needing to back out because it is a free country. They are using this on the lines of abortion also. It is a proven fact that a baby is a person before it is born. Therefore, doesn’t it deserve the same right. By getting an abortion, people are taking the right of freedom away from that person. Basically, they are committing murder! So, next time someone talks about getting an abortion ask them who gave them the right to play God? Because that’s what they are doing when they get an abortion and the doctors are on a mere power trip!

I agree with Ellen. It shouldn’t be up to anyone but the people that decide to get married. I’m tired of other people deciding what is best for me as well as what is acceptable in life. If these people spent as much time on their own lives and stop trying to dictate to other’s , the world might just somehow be a better place.

I do agree with Sarah Palin’s view, we do need a federal ban on gay marriage,
The union of one naturally born man to one naturally born female is a true and only acceptable view of a marriage. all others are false, they are not equal.

I think Ellen is great! Frankly, I haven’t strong feelings one way or the other about Gay marriages. I have friends that are gay. What does bother me about Ellen’s animosity toward Governor Palin is that Ellen assumes that Governor Palin, and therefore, Senator McCain are the only candidates against Gay marriages. Obama and Sen Biden have both said that they, too, are against Gay marriages. Why doesn’t Ellen speak of that?

why is ok for only certain groups of people to have an opinion? everyone should be able to have their own view whether or not everyone else agrees.

I THINK THAT GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO KEEP ITS NOSE OUT OF PEOPLES PERSONAL BUSINESS….(ABORTION MARRIAGE CHILDREN)..LETS NOT FORGET THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY..I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH GAY MARRIAGE AND DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS AN ISSUE..GAYS ARE ALLOWED TO ADOPT CHILDREN WITH NO PROBLEMS SO WHY SHOULD’NT THEY BE ALLOWED TO MARRY..THERE ARE WAY MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES TO DEAL WITH..

What bothers me more than Palin’s wardrobe or Obama’s lack of experience is the fact that in this Great country there are still people who insist that we all follow their beliefs. If you are against smoking “don’t do it” if you hate what is on tv “turn to another channel” if you think being Gay is a sin “OMG please don’t come out” we have enough dealing with men who can’t dress themselves and women who can’t decorate to deal with you and your narrow minded crap. What ever happened to separation of Church and State in this country?

Yes Ellen you should love people for who they are…you should love Palin for who she is also…she has her opinions on gay marriage and you have yours…so respect that and let it be…do not use your tv show to bash her…..I am glad I never watched your show and never will.

I dont believe in Gay marriages, that’s doesnt mean i discriminate you because of it! I have to accept you as a person, and not the choices you make! Some of us still believe in the union between man and women, and we haven’t let our selves be over taken by the mentality that what God has created and intented to be, is no longer! IT SHOULD BE FEDERAL!

Why is it ok for people to rip on Palin for spending 150K on clothes, but its ok for Obama to spend hundred of millions on negative ads. I mean seriously. Are you fricking kidding me?

The real issues are being lost here.

Its pretty ridiculous.

How sad that we want everyone to be a certain way, or they’re wrong… Couldn’t we do a lot more for our country and our world if we looked at how we are similar instead of how we are different and work from there, working to improve our country and our world? Personally, I think it would be awfully boring if everyone was the same. Personally, I’m voting for Obama because I feel like he’ll be able to improve things in a way that we haven’t seen for many years.
