Ellen Takes Aim at Palin

1022ellenpalin.jpg

Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres took aim at VP hopeful Sarah Palin's views on the legality of gay marriage.

"Vice presidential candidate, Governor Sarah Palin, says she favors a federal ban on gay marriage," Ellen said on her show today. "Basically, she wants to change The Constitution."

The Emmy-winning talk show hostess continued, "I don't like it. I don't agree. Maybe it's because I'm gay that I think we should all be equal, but I feel that we're all equal. I don't know what people are scared of -- maybe they think that their children will be influenced. I was raised by two heterosexuals, I was surrounded by heterosexuals -- and they didn't influence me."

DeGeneres ended with, "People are going to be who they're going to be, and we need to love them for who they are. That's that."

Ellen and longtime partner Portia de Rossi wed in an intimate Beverly Hills ceremony last August.

NEXT: Thursday: Cindy McCain Attacks the Obamas!

I really don’t understand what the big deal is with gay marriage. People love who they love and nothing will ever change that. So why should we not be able to marry who we want. Just because of who we love we have less rights. All because of some homophobic people. Grow up.

Supposedly, Obamas stance on Gay Marriage is the same as that of Sarah Palin, as well as John McCain??

“you tell em ellen”??

The real question is why did she not DRILL Obama (instead of dancing with him) and Mrs. Obama (instead of presenting her with a white house for her DOG) like she DRILLED McCain and Palin? Oh, because she is BIAS that’s why.

The GAY issue is just that a “personal vendetta” on behalf of people like Ellen! This crap about “no rights” or “not being equal” is simply THAT,… CRAP!! Any excuse she feels in justifying what is truly un-natural is purely ignorant. Don’t give me the “excuse” that ‘love is love’… so be it LOVE someone -love whomever you want, even if the laws should change to allow gay marriage, it will still not be morally acceptable to me. I accept people for whom or what they are, but will never believe that gay marriage is a true marriage!! My own personal belief system, like it or not. Don’t call me a bigot, when you hate me for my belief system, because that in-turn makes yourself a bigot! I’m not judging people, I’m expressing my own opinion of an ISSUE. Please don’t mis-construe the two.

Ellen is right on the money. Sarah Palin needs to leave the Constitution alone. Gays should be entitled to the same protections afforded to Heterosexuals. That’s it that’s all.

Governor Sarah Palin is right.

EXACTLY, Chris K. To hang your vote on one issue, when there are so many this time, is to be very narrow-minded. Besides, Ellen IS married, she’s (for now) with the person she wants to be with, so what’s the deal? There are those FOR and those AGAINST gay marriage, and BOTH are entitled to their opinions. Why do dems think that only their opinion is valid?

Good comments Chris & Mary-Jane.

I like Ellen, but I think there’s a lot of this going on out there. I blame it ENTIRELY on a news media who hasn’t done their jobs. They’re more interested in protecting their political agenda’s and they’ve allowed people to demonize this woman, for no reason.

Palin’s best friend is a gay woman. She’s not out to hurt gay couples, but she IS out to protect a constitution that has been in place for 232 years.

At the vice presidential debate both candidates said they supported gay unions, but not the redefinition of marriage. Ellen is walking a fine line of interpretation and should probably research a little more.

Ellen DeGeneres: Where is the Constitution of the United States of America does it consider the subject of Gay Marriage. Sarah Palin is not trying to change the Constitution. Are you by your uninformed statement?

People should leave the constitution alone that is how we have lived for a very long time. Why change it? And if people are happy with there lives then why would some one want to mess it up. How would they like it if someone messed up their lives. People should think before they do or say things that will affect other people. LEAVE THINGS ALONE AND BACK OFF OF THERE CHOSES../;.

I think that Ellen is right, let people be what there going to be so that they can live there lives as happly as they want to. It is not up to a candidate to promote changing the constitution. Changing the Constitution is beyond wrong to do any ways leave them alone. that is how we have lived for longer than any one can think of. so back off of it and leave things alone.

I love what Palin said,”In my own state, I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I wish on a federal level that that’s where we would go because I don’t support gay marriage.”
———————————————————
It is like what Linda said, “I do enjoy watching your show (Ellen’s Show) and I know you do a lot of good things for animals and people. But I have to say that I have been married for 24 years and it is not right for a gay couple to have the same rights as a straight married couple. It would make what I have seem worthless. I have never read anywhere that God thinks this is acceptable. Ellen maybe you should watch more of the Animal Planet and see what is natural after all we are all just products of God and nature. None of us would be here if we had 2 moms would we, think about it. Good luck when you have to answer to God.
————————————————————
Another good QUOTE is by Jon when he said, “Yes Ellen you should love people for who they are… you should love Palin for who she is also… she has her opinions on gay marriage and you have yours… so respect that and let it be… do not use your TV show to bash her… I am glad I never watched your show and never will.”
———————————————————
Can’t forget about this QUOTE either by Lisa. She said, “I think Ellen is great! Frankly, I haven’t strong feelings one way or the other about Gay marriages. I have friends that are gay. What does bother me about Ellen’s animosity toward Governor Palin is that Ellen assumes that Governor Palin, and therefore, Senator McCain are the only candidates against Gay marriages. Obama and Sen Biden have both said that they, too, are against Gay marriages. Why doesn’t Ellen speak of that?”
———————————————————
Majority Rules said, “I do agree with Sarah Palin’s view, we do need a federal ban on gay marriage,
The union of one naturally born man to one naturally born female is a true and only acceptable view of a marriage. all others are false, they are not equal.”
———————————————————
And finally Carolyn said, “First of all, I agree with Sarah Palin. As much as I like Ellen’s show, I disagree with her choices. Marriage is supposed to be between one man and one woman!”
………………………………..
———————————————————
Here is what I think, first I 100% AGREE with her that gay marriages should be put to an end. (That is the only thing I like about her. But believe me she is no leader.) On the other hand I do think that McCain could be a leader.

Anyway what I might do is have the same privileges as a marriage only not calling it a marriage.

JUST REMEMBER EVERYONE, THERE IS A REASON FOR THE HOT DOG AND BUN ACTION IF YOU GET MY DRIFT. You can also think of it putting gas in a car.

Not to mention what other mammals do. Sure there are some that are gay but not nearly as many. Plus they don’t even get married.
………………………………..
———————————————————
P.S. I also agree with m.o., we need to focus on the most important thing which is the economy.
———————————————————
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT LET ANYTHING I AM TELLING YOU CHANGE YOUR VOTE.

I think there are way more important issues than gay marraige! Like the economy. Who cares if “gay” couples want to get married? How will this hurt our country? And to the person who made the comment about this increasing the divorce rate…thats bull. Did you ever think that it could help it? If anyone else is worried about the divorce rates…make it harder and more expensive to get married (for everyone)So this way all people will have a better understanding of what their really getting into not to mention the funds.

If gay people want to marry or remain so-called married, who are we or for that matter, who is Sarah Palin to decide what is best for them? They are capable of making their own decisions and no one should deny them the right of marriage.

””“”” At least gays appreciate and take marriage seriously “”“”“

Per C.C.

You truly need to do some research before making such statements. The flip side of this arguement is the FACT that nearly half of all marriages will end in a divorce!! Having gay people divorce will only increase this number…

Fact: Ellen was with Anne Heche, yea THAT lasted forever, in fact Anne later married a man ..DIVORCED this man for yet another.

Gay marriage is completely more complicated than it’s worth. Almost like re-writing the bible if ya ask me. Let alone all the legal issues that will follow any legalization process. And, imagine what will follow, what “laws” will these gay people want next? Everybody wants what they want.. Gay or straight, it doesn’t matter we’ve become a nation of selfish people, if ya want to be gay then be gay, but do what most straight folks are doing these days and just LIVE TOGETHER already!

Earl - Judging from the majority of the comments here the real issues have been long lost.

Ticked off because Ellen shared her opinion? Really? Her make up is bad and Palin’s isn’t? Really? Palin’s wardrobe cost a bundle? Really?

How are any of those things going to effect your life after our new president is elected?

And honestly, is a married gay couple going to? How? If you’re so opposed to it are you going to have the couple to dinner? Hang out? Have any interaction? Not very likely.

If you form your opinions from what you hear and read and don’t do your own research, educate yourself and use your own brain, shame on you… enjoy your cave of ignorance, clearly you’ll have lots of company.

Following the “”“”“”“flock leads to the whole flock going off a sharp, steep cliff.”“”“”” The past 8 years are proof positive of that.

Don’t get so fired up over a story on an entertainment website. Sheesh.

I just found it very interesting your “flock of sheep” comment, especially when you are an Obama supporter. Interesting choice of words.

At the Obama rallys people chant: “OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA”..

At the McCain rallys the chant is: U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A.

hmm whom are the true sheep..
