Chanel and Art: A World Apart
To commemorate the anniversary of the Chanel handbag, Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director of Chanel, and famed architect Zaha Hadid collaborated on a unique and international roving project that mixes art, architecture and fashion in surprising ways.

They created a touring art museum called The Chanel Mobile Art container where 20 international contemporary artists are exhibiting works inspired by Chanel's iconic quilted bag. It's a white, space-agey pavilion that was designed by Hadid and is assembled on-site. And those sites are Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York, London, Moscow and Paris. The show's next stop is New York's Central Park, where you can view the art from 10/20 through 11/9.
Swiss artist Sylvie Fleury's contribution to the show is a video piece where 20 Chanel quilted purses are shot at and blown up by automatic weapons! Luxaholics will be making a citizen's arrest!!

Strange but true? Rather send the purses to me
