Oprah and Michelle Obama Rally for Women Voters

GOP VP hopeful Sarah Palin is the only woman running on a presidential ballot this year -- but it was her rival Obama who had his A-list supporter, Oprah Winfrey, rallying for women votes in Chicago.

Winfrey -- who has been a public advocate of Obama since he launched his campaign -- opened the National Women's Leadership Issues Conference with a speech that the press wasn't invited to.

In the past, Lady O has described Obama with glowing praise -- telling the Huffington Post that Barack's DNC acceptance speech was "the most powerful thing I have ever experienced." The talk show queen was spotted arriving at the Sheraton Hotel in Chicago -- where the conference was held -- in a black SUV.

Winfrey was joined by First Lady hopeful Michelle Obama, who urged her fellow ladies to support the democratic ticket -- and encourage their female friends to do the same. "The leadership of women will be critical, because we all know, when you need something done, we can get it done," Michelle stated.

She added, "Talk to your friends and your neighbors and your colleagues. Sit down with your mothers and your fathers and your sisters and your girlfriends and tell them about the issues at stake in this election."

Why is it Opra never supported a Democratic candidate before this? Was it because they were white? OPRA IS A RACIST!!!!! If Obama gets in she definitely will be involved in running this country…By the way, she always was ugly….as she gets older, she gets uglier and uglier not only on the outside but also on the inside.

I think that it is a celebrity thing, it should be more about the issues, our troops and what the united states stands for as a whole.

I am not voting, neither one is worth putting in office. Every past presidant always promised so much and never made good on everything they promised. Now it has become a nasty B—— slapping contest, I am ashamed of what the elections are now doing. Celebrities, race issues, who wears the most stylish clothes, or dogs wearing lip stick!, and so on. There will be one voted in no matter what, it is what it is! I just wish America stood for what it used to stand for, Honesty, integrity, values, morals, caring for we the people, but things have deterriated, things lost sight of etc. God bless us all

BTW, my comment was meant only for oprah - really creepyin that photo. The obams always look extremely attractive. Not that I’d ever vote for them - esp. based on their good looks, but the fact remains.

Forgive me, but aside from the obvious, that celebs should sew it up, when I saw this photo, I got scared. Please, where are the airbrushers??!!?

I think that we should not be influenced into voting for Obama because of Oprah. I do not even think she should even be in the limelight with them at all.
With all that we are hearing about Obama being friends with terrorist Ayer and working with him for 7 years. Obama attended his preachers church for 20 years and listened to the preacher talk about god damning America and hating white people etc. Obama does not have an ounce of government experience. And to top it off experts say that if you think Obama is going to be our Messiah and get us out of this mess your wrong. I am backing McCain and Sarah Palin all the way.

JUDY!! You are SO right!
MCCAIN/PALIN 08 - you hit the nail on the head, too. Orpah’s always been phony. This HAS become about race, and that makes me ill. Except, it’s not the way one would think it is. The gossips would have you believe that caucasians don’t want a multi-racial president. I know many who ARE voting for barack o. I can’t, however, seem to even READ about an african-american who’s NOT voting for him. Look up the percentages if you fear I’m exaggerating. Either way, it’s a terrible and dangerous reason to vote for anyone.Good luck to all.PS: It’s never been even a fleeting issue in my beautifully ‘rainbow’ family, but we’ve all used the brains, not the eyes, when deciding.

I HATE that Oprah is helping Obama, considering she said she wouldn’t have McCain on her show. Oprah is endorsing Obama and he is a Muslim and hates Americans! He doesn’t have anything to do with his white family! He is half white/half black but only shows the black side of himself. He is ashamed of his heritage; doesn’t speak well of his character.

This is ridiculous. Oprah goes on and on about how she can’t have McCain on her show because it would be favoritism yet she runs and does this. And the comment of the leadership of women…I didn’t know Michelle was running as well? I was never a fan of Oprah and I’m even less impressed by her now. Plus I really wish people would vote based on issues and not race. This is becoming a race issue more then people realize…just vote for the BEST candidate…one who actually stands for what he believes in and is a full supporter of this country!

McCain/Palin 08!

- So sick of the celebrities!

I am really tired of celebrities influential in poeple it seems that today whatever celebrities endorsen poeple go .and you have to think for yourself not because somebody else told you to do so I am my own person and nobody is going to tell me for who I should vote or not I had made my mind and I am not voting I think Obama is not ready and full of it and McCain is just another Bush so this election is full of mistakes and promises that never will be done.

All that pales in comparison to what we DO KNOW, and yet (some of us) choose to ignore about obama.

My friends and I also talk to many others in our circles, especially the 18 yr. old first(!) voters, to let them know how important it HAS ALWAYS been to vote. We’d of course, never suggest for whom they should vote,(hey, we’re not ACORN - ugh) but they’re mostly informed, intelligent men and women who love and know this country, its history, its problems, and its future. Who we’re all voting for, share these sentiments, and more - and have proven so.

We do need to see the right women in
leadership but not McCain/Palin-she is
being used by McCain to get votes and
not a vp type, just likeable and he isn’t. She can’t even answer questions
correctly and it took her years to get
a bachelor degree in broadcast journalism after attending several Colleges.

I don’t know what kind of megalomania is going on w/ Ms. Winfrey, but most women have made up their own minds. We CAN get it done. And it’s almost ALWAYS been w/o her endorsements, approval, or ‘guidance’. What makes people like her think that she’s showing us ANYTHING else, in her ‘Theatre of O’, but favoritism, subjectivity, and lack of character??

I have done just that. I talk to my girlfriends, my neighbors and my colleagues. I sit down with my mother, my mother-in-law, my father, my father-in-law, my brothers, and my brothers’ girlfriends and tell them about the issues at stake in this election. I have never been this excited about an election until now. I can’t wait to see Obama in the White House. I believe in his ability to lead this great nation.
