The Incredible Shrinking Starlets

0918stroup.jpg

Hollywood has always been full of waiflike actresses -- but the starlets of "90210" have become so pin-thin that whispers about their tiny frames have become a roar -- causing Beverly Hills alum Shannen Doherty to defend her young co-stars.

"They just have amazing bodies. Deal with it," Shannen tells "Extra" of Shenae Grimes, 18, and Jessica Stroup, 21 -- who have become the focus of the skinny scrutiny. "You can't single out girls that you don't know anything about and decide they're too skinny... I watch them -- and they eat."

"Extra" lifechanger and "Work Out" queen Jackie Warner shared quite a different perception. "This girl's quadricep is about as big as my bicep -- she needs to have a leg that is larger than my arm," said an incredulous Jackie. "Here's the one dangerous aspect of being this thin for too long -- you permanently slow down your metabolic clock so you mess up your metabolism for a lifetime."

Talk on the set seems to share Jackie's concern. Us Weekly's Aimee Agresti says that the other kids of West Beverly are growing concerned. "The boys in the show may stage an intervention," she says -- before sharing this 9021-oh-so-telling secret from the show's set. "The wardrobe department on this show only has clothes that range from size double zero to size two -- it's pretty tough."

The girls are way too thin. This is not a good look and this is not healthy.
This is a show that teens watch. They do not need to think that this is how they need to look.

Why is the heroin-addict look making a comeback? Why can’t we have more strong, healthy, beautiful, women with curves? these girls look like 11 year olds on the verge of puberty.

absolutely rediculous. way WAY too skinny. Yes, this country has major obesity issues but why can’t everyone just meet in the middle and find healthy, happy mediums? Just eat right and get some physical activity, not that hard!

WAY TOO THIN! The 90210 producers need to learn a thing or two about casting females who are setting the too thin body image for the younger female viewers! Size 00 to size 2 is way too small for most “average” height girls today … these girls need to look healthy, not promoting eating disorder images.

They are lovely girls, but they are very, very thin looking. I don’t necessarily think that it’s natural either because I saw an older picture of one of the girls where they were heavier than they are now, and she looked more normal. There’s too much pressure on girls in Hollywood to be ridiculously thin and it really is a major problem that needs to be addressed.

There is thin and then there is too thin!
Im a very petite girl, but I am healthy and within weight.
These girls need to get the BMI at the right number because you know they are below the normal of 19

They are way too skinny and are a poor example for your girls aspiring to get into the movie sector.

I come from a family of naturally small women (I’m 5’4” and weigh 125 lbs)…I’m the biggest women in the family! I’ve always been singled out because of it. I think 100 lbs or less on these girls is too skinny! Coming from a skinny girl…

Yeah, they’re smoking hot now, but in a few years they’re going to get fat because their metabolism will be shot. If they’re not eating, they’ll soon start losing their hair too. Thing is, even if they’re being “healthy” about it. Teens will see that size and will want to be that skinny. They’ll do it unhealthily. Also, ask any doctor. Those girls are proportionately and medically underweight.

They are all way to skinny. I noticed it after watching the show for 5 min. It isn’t healthy for teens growing up to see girls that look like that. It looks like their legs could give out at any point because they are all bones.

Some people are born to be skinny. I am not one of those girls because I do have curves but these girls do not look healthy at all. I would support them being skinny but they just don’t seem like they’re getting enough nutrients.

These girls are far too thin and set a poor example for other teenagers who watch the show.

They are way to skinny. They look (Health) sick and need medical help. I hope a real trainer helps them out.

I think the girls of 90210 are a shinning example of what not to look like! they should be given a few weeks to put on some serious pounds!!man they are on the brink of death!! nothng pretty or good about that look!!

i can’t believe how thin…i have a 5yr old who already looks at herself in the mirror and thinks she’s fat…and she’s a whole 38lbs. that’s not coming from her mother that’s coming from programs on tv. i think it’s sad and they don’t look healthy at all…
