Streisand: McCain Choosing Palin is 'Desperate and Irresponsible'

0909babsmccain.jpg

Political activist Barbra Streisand took to the Internet with some fervent political activism -- and Funny Girl is not amused by John McCain's veep choice of Sarah Palin!

The outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter ranted in her blog about McCain picking Palin as his running mate, calling the choice "desperate and irresponsible." Babs also accused the GOP nominee of pandering to women who may go for the ticket simply because Sarah "has two X chromosomes."

Streisand, who threw her support to Obama when he landed the nomination -- will be hosting a $28K per plate benefit for him in Beverly Hills.

NEXT: Did Babs Play Fair with John McCain?

Barbara is an idiot what she thinks means nothing along with the rest of Hollywood. Celebraties think they can change thinks simply because of who they are. They have talent but no common sense.
They need to stay out of politics, just go vote and leave it at that.

If Barbara was so intelligent about politics, she would be running for president. She needs to stick to singing and acting. Her political opinion has no authority. She needs to move out of the USA because clearly she is not proud of her country. Maybe she would be happier in Iran. Poor Charles, life was so much simpler when he was working with Marcus Welby, MD.

Babs is way out of line, I quit listening to her music and her years ago, she’s an idiot and should crawl back into her hole somewhere. Palin was the perfect choice, Obama is the worst..after all he’s a muslim down deep and can deny it all he wants, I don’t believe him….

I am an independent and don’t “always” agree with anyone…..Dem. or Rep. In this case, Barbra happens to be correct. McCain’s choice is SO transparent as to be almost comical! I find it tragic that some of the other commenters have to show such ignorance by degrading her looks, Obama’s “ability to change a diaper”, etc……What on earth does that have to do with anything? Please, people, vote on the issues!!!

I wanted Hillary, but now I will choose McCain, I cannot bring myself to vote for someone who belonged to a racist church for 20 years and quit just because it was hurting him while running for president. What kind of president will he really be? If a white person belonged to a racist church, it would have been all over with for him or her, but we are more forgiving because he is black.

Brava, Babs! I would add “reckless” and “dangerously stupid” to her “desperate” and “irresponsible.” Pray to God that if McCain wins, he remains alive for the entire term, especially if a real national or global crisis arises! When will substance and intellect make a comeback?

I think that Barbara and Ophra should stay out of government. They should keep their remarks to themselves. This has been the worst campaign that I can remember. There are people, in entertainment, who think they should tell the public what is right and in reality they haven’t a clue about the average U.S. citizens’ life styly.

Babs has turned into a bitter old woman w extreme views and her comments are basically worthless.

She should just learn to close her mouth so her foot stays out of it.

Having enjoyed many of her movies and songs in the past: it is beyond me that she thinks she can convince so many thinking people that she knows best. I
am disappointed in her - she takes herself MUCH too seriously.

Barbara knows nothing about how most of us live. It amazes me these rich movie celebs all are on the wrong side. She needs to move like she promised so we wouldn’t have to see her ugly face anymore.

After a few minutes of trying to think of anyone of intelligence who cares about Streisand’s opinion about anything…

Nah..no one!

So McCain pick Palin because she’s a women. Isn’t that the same reason Streisand pick the Clinton loser? What a piece of work Streisand. She’s supporting a terrorist for President and she gets bent out of place because the opponent picks someone who is better than all of them together? Get a life you insignificant piece of crap…..

Barbara promised to move out of the country during the last election. I’m sad to see she is still here. As a undecided voter I’m saddened that people such as her resort to taunting and trash talk. That kind of behavior takes the spotlight off of the real issues and the real man. I’m available to help her pack when she finally lives up to her words.

It’s sad that McCain was so desperate he chose Palin to get weak Hillary Clinton voters who don’t even realize Palin is all for herself. She went to work immediately after having her baby with Down’s Syndrome. What does that say for all of the working women who are fighting for job protection and Family Medical Leave Acts to cover them when they have to go on maternity leave and care for their sick children or family members. She is only setting the stage for a future of limited job benefits for women. And at the Republican Convention the Republicans went on a bash of insulting the responsbility of community organizers who pour out blood, sweat and tears to build strong communities that in turn build a stronger America, including our military. These community organizers were/are Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, The Boy/Cub Scouts, The Brownies/Girl Scouts, the Boys & Girls Club of America, The Salvation Army, the Guardian Angels (who protect us when the police are not there), N.A.C.A. (who are helping millions from foreclosure), The American Cancer Society and so on. I heard a perfect quote on CNN, “Jesus Christ was a Community Organizer and Pontius Pilate a Governor.” Sounds like a good analysis of the Democrats (for the people) and the Republicans (procurators) for themselves. Shame on these Republicans and everyone who votes for them.
