Streisand: McCain Choosing Palin is 'Desperate and Irresponsible'

0909babsmccain.jpg

Political activist Barbra Streisand took to the Internet with some fervent political activism -- and Funny Girl is not amused by John McCain's veep choice of Sarah Palin!

The outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter ranted in her blog about McCain picking Palin as his running mate, calling the choice "desperate and irresponsible." Babs also accused the GOP nominee of pandering to women who may go for the ticket simply because Sarah "has two X chromosomes."

Streisand, who threw her support to Obama when he landed the nomination -- will be hosting a $28K per plate benefit for him in Beverly Hills.

NEXT: Did Babs Play Fair with John McCain?

Maureen, how uneducated can you be. How blind are Republican woman? No wait these woman are not blind they are uneducated, uninformed and plain dumb. It isn’t just Barbara who is making the comment, it is anyone with a brain. It is irresponsible to place a woman who is such an “single minded” “tunnel vision” “uninformed” — Oh wait, these are the people making the “Palin is more qualified” comments. Palin is on the ticket just to show the Democrats off and use her as a token. Wake up people!!! This is the most irresponsible action and it is frightening that people would not see this. By the way, Maureen — learn to spell.

Mary, before you put someone down for spelling and punctuation errors, look at your own post first. Your views are not appearing rational.

Wow, i guess we should all listen to barbra streisand because she has so much experience with political affairs since she has been in office for so long and i guess she has her degree in political science? and she’s been a senator and all that?
so we need to listen to her, right?

Lisa, thank you for your post. You’ve said it perfectly, and we now just have to hope that people use their brains, not listen to celebrities or, unfortunately, most news (and I use the term loosely now)channels, and most importantly, not fall for any slanted bs!!

Who do you vote for?? Vote for the ticket that is willing to work for the people-McCain/Palin! I live in Alaska and witnessed the work of Palin and one thing holds true, she is willing to sit down and listen. She dosen’t expect for everyone to think the same, she expects us to work together for the betterment of our future. The media only shows us what they want us to see, that is true for our Movie Stars too. Working together is what our country needs…not more segregation between the wealthy and the poor, between the famous and the have nots.

Much is made of McCain’s age. Has anyone brought up the fact that Obama smokes and both of his parents died at an early age. McCain’s mother is 96!
Plus Biden has had two brain aneurysms.
If they both died while in office that would leave Nancy Pelosi as president.
The point is, you never know; but longevity is more to the side of McCain that obama. For me, that’s (as if I needed) ANOTHER reason to vote for McCain. I can’t even enumerate all the reasons here why not to vote for b.o, but people better get some facts before it’s too late - they’re out there, so don’t ignore or turn a blind eye to them. PS TO M> BURKE: If you did your history H.W, you’d know that all your complaints are directly related to the clinton, NOT Bush administration.

Women who just wanted a woman in the race had a chance to pick hilary clinton; they just did not want her. So to say that palin is put on the ticket to att-r-a-c-t women is silly and desperate-sounding.

I TOTALLY agree with Ms. Streisand!!! McCain chosing Palin as his VP was just to attarct the 18 million women that voted for Sen. Hilary Clinton during the Democratic primary! THAT IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND A VERY OBVIOUS REPLUBLICAN TACTIC!!!!

Mary - learn punctuation, tense, when to use which article (an, a),and the difference between singular and plural. Man, if this is an indication of who’s voting for whom, we are in big trouble. I understand your panic. PS: barbra’s brain was programmed for singing. She’s paid for that,(by some; I find her voice annoyingly nasal) not for thinking.

To start, Mary, Mommy4, Barbara, and Matt Dam for that matter, need to wake up!! McCain chose Palin because she is the right PERSON for the job. To think that he chose her just because she’s a woman is absurd!! Don’t you think that if it was so important to choose a woman that there are other Republican woman that do have more “expirience”? I just hope that the people of this country are not going to base thier vote on what thier favorite movie star or singer are saying. I stopped buying Barbara’s music years ago when she came out of hiding to support Clinton when he ran the 2nd time. Now I will boycott anything Matt is in. If he honestly thinks that we’ll have a “hockey mom” running this country if McCain gets in,
HE’S RIGHT!!!!! What an idiot. Doesn’t he get it? He must not go to many high school hockey games because I wouldn’t want to $%&@ with her in the stands. GOD, no sense of humor! This is all it was….a joke. Hockey moms are pit bulls and if you want someone to fight for your disabled child, help this country become less dependent on foriegn oil, keep our borders safe etc…..then vote the McCain/Palin ticket. If you want to see your taxes go up, gas hit five and six dollars a gallon, car bombings in Boston instead of Baghdad, then vote Obama by all means. GO HOCKEY MOMS OF AMERICA!!!!!!

AIMEE:Your post hit the nail on the head! I hope many people have your thought process. Liberals are known for shoving their opinions down everyone’s throat, under the threat of intimidation. Then they have the tumerity to say that conservative press does that. Talk about criticizing in others what you yourself are guilty of. Taking the negatives of who they dislike and magnifying them to a surreal, cartoonish degree, while smoothing over,or not even acknowledging major flaws of their pals, is the way of their world.

“Having fun watching the ‘fair and balanced’ Faux News? Minimize the Wikipedia page and start watching the news and reading their backgrounds.”

Really? Have you resorted to personal attacks because you disagree with me questioning someone’s source of information? Let’s focus for a minute on those on the top of the ticket. Tell me why the liberal media doesn’t like to talk about Obama’s lack of interest in approximately 40-50% of the state policies he was asked to vote on. Voting “present” over 130 times seems to indicate an indifference what’s going on and/or a desire to hide political beliefs because of an agenda to seek another job, aka the Presidency. Giuliani’s speach wasn’t the first time we heard that. Hillary brought this up in December 2007! I suppose if no one knows what you’ve voted on, they can’t hold you accountable to what you’re saying or what you believe. Was the Presidency his only aim while he was a State’s senator? Consider how much time he spent during his FIRST term as state senator running for president. If I had voted for him in Illinois - I would be feeling pretty ripped off right now! So much for experience - wrote a few books, ran for state senate and spent the last year and a half running for President. In addition, the liberal media seems to want to stay clear of his terrorist connections - William Ayers & Bernardine Dohrnm. Anonymous - Let’s be sure we’re spending equal time on both sides of the issue. I get plenty of what you’re dishing out…believe me! What about the other side?

TO: Barbra S.

Sarah Palin is so much more qualified to be President of the United States as BO is! Bo made that horrible mistake of not picking HRC as his running mate,(who I would have voted for), however I am now voting the McCain ~ Palin ticket!!!!!!!

When I was coming up through the ranks where I worked, (a governmental agency), men would be allowed to proceed with a chemistry or arts majors, when I was told to get a business degree!

With this bringing on of Sarah Palin, all of the little things, i.e., “community organizer” versus “mayor” and “governor” are now coming out and people can really see how
men really act.

Remember, “you can put lipstick on an Obama, it is still an Obama”!!!!!!!

Now, come on, Babs, weren’t you somewhat disappointed that BO did not choose HRC as his running mate?

Barbara is just another stuck-up arrogant elitist Entertainer who thinks anyone cares about her little opinion! She and the rest of entertainment industry needs to STFU! NO ONE CARES!! These people live in their own little fantasy world where EVIL dictators are heroes and hard working,Godly Americans are viewed as the enemy. I wish all of the stuck-up celebrities who swear they will move if McCain wins will make good on their promise…WHEN HE WINS! LOL!!

Everyone has their own opinion. But why is it we only hear the LIBERALS FROM CALIFORNIA bitching and moaning all the time. I am so sick of all of them. Today on EXTRA, Brad Garrett said he would move out of the country if McCain was elected. PLEASE, PLEASE let him get elected. I would love to see him and most of Hollywood leave this country. It would clean it up fast. They are such liars!!! I can guarantee they will go nowhere if McCain wins. Isn’t that what BALDWIN said when Bush got elected, he was “going to move to Canada” ?!!? Look where he is now. They all just need to shut thier traps and let the country choose the best President!! Which by far is McCain. Read the “Muslims” book “Audacity of Hope” He specifically states, if it comes down to it, he will side with the Muslim faith over the Christians.

READ IT!!!!! He is a Muslim any way you see it!!!!!

Stay strong, Paige, and know that your vote will count towards helping the real people who love this country and work hard. Liberals love when the middle class struggles. That shows them that we’re still footing the bill for those who feel entitled. We work, and they collect. Too much freedom for those who don’t deserve it, is never a good idea. We need someone who’ll give us structure, and weed out all the BS. I know who the choice is for me, because he’s proven he cares. Good luck.
