Rock Star Luxe

Awards shows are supposed to bring out the glam and glitz, right? But last night's MTV VMA fashions were a luxe dud. Most looks were as flat as an over-ironed blow dry, but there were a handful of luxey exceptions.
Kanye rocked it out in what looked like Louis Vuitton, his personal fave. Kobe looked conservatively sharp, as usual. The Ting Tings sported a genuine '80s new wave look, while androgynous newcomers Tokio Hotel brought some desperately needed Euro-rock fashion to the raucous proceedings.
Three luxe looks that were absolute showstoppers: Pink was red haute in a shocking blue satin coat before stripping down to a bona fide hottie dominatrix look, and Rihanna wore a tribute to Grace Jones circa "Slave to the Rhythm" in the form of a ginormous skirt set. She delivered a killer performance, but needs to lose the skunk pompadour ASAP.
And what about Christina Aguilera? Motherhood definitely agrees with her, and she proved it big time by strutting her stuff in a black cat suit.
And then there was Britney... ah, Britney. Her restrained acceptance speeches were nearly as conservative as her outfits. She might want to look into hiring a new stylist to go with her comeback victories.
