O'Neal Swears the Drugs Aren't His

Ryan O'Neal's lawyer says his client is innocent -- and that drugs found at Ryan's Malibu home belong to someone else. "The drugs found were not his," attorney Mark Werksman told AP. "He would never use them."

Ryan and his son Redmond -- who is currently on probation in another drug case - were busted Wednesday after cops performed a routine probation search and allegedly found methamphetamine. The father-son duo were arrested and released after posting $10,000 bail. No charges have been filed.

"He has tried to lead a peaceful life," Werksman insisted. "He's acting and he's caring for his family and this is the last thing he ever wanted or expected."

Redmond, 23, is Ryan's son with actress Farrah Fawcett.

He took them from his son a couple of months ago. Sorry, If I took drugs from my son I would flushed them right away.

Ryan has been clean for a long, long time….I do believe that he took them from his son to protect him…but in the end unfortunately it backfired on him….He stood by Farrah’s side during her battle with cancer and is still there for her…a drug addict would not do that.

He couldn’t come up with something better then “they belong to someone else”

Yup, I’m buying that story. Haven’t heard that one before.

Why Farrah got involved with him is beyond me.
