Inside Barack's Beverly Hills Fundrai$er

Inside Barack's Beverly Hills Fundrai$er

Presidential candidate Barack Obama took a detour from battleground states to attend a star-studded Beverly Hills fundraiser in his honor -- and "Deal or No Deal" model Claudia Jordan gave "Extra" the scoop on the star-studded bash.

Political singing queen Barbra Streisand took the stage to support Obama -- and Claudia said Babs had a beef with the GOP! "She was angry at how Barack Obama was being described by the Republican Party."

Barack stated that despite the celebratory nature of the evening, his focus remained on recent disasters the country has faced. "I'm not in a celebratory mood," he said, before mentioning various crises, including the train crash in Chatsworth, and Hurricane Ike. He encouraged his wealthy supporters to remember the working class his campaign is striving to help. He stated that his bid for the presidency is about "those who will never see the inside of a building like this, and don't resent the success that's represented in this room, but just want the simple chance to be able to find a job that pays a living wage."

The event raised $9 million for his campaign -- and was mocked by John McCain at a rally in Ohio, when he blasted the Illinois senator for professing his commitment to working people "just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends." Jordan blasted this slam, telling "Extra" that "a couple celebrities were there, but it was not a celebrity event. Everyday people were there to support Barack Obama."

Do You people really think that McCain is for the people. He has been behind Bush ever since he was elected He has done nothing and I mean nothing for the people of Arizona. He is a mirror image of Bush. This country cannot take anohter 4 years of this. We will have nothing left. this is the worse this country has been in even in the resecetion

I cannot believe people and expciallyen our “Hollywood Stars” would pay such a price for a meal for Obama when this world is in such a struggle in the economy. That $28,000 each one of them paid could have fed a family for a year, get the homeless off the street, and help all the victims of these disasters such as the tornados and hurricanes that has left our loved ones homeless. I was for Obama but this just changed my mind on voting for him. He is a person that just wants money, he does not care about us little people. Promises and promises but once elected, nothing happens!!! McCain you got my vote.

CWright - you know what the problem is? Celebs think they have more input than those living in the real world. Celebs not only endorse publicly (I thought voting booths were there, because elections are supposed to be private) who the ‘chosen one’ should be, but viciously attack those who dare to disagree (as can be seen many times on this site, alone!). So much for what ‘liberal’ is supposed to mean. They only allow freedom of opinion, if it’s their opinion as well. There are more republican celebs out there than are open about it, because of the blatant, rampant, and unapologetic blacklisting and intimidation tactics that these ‘free’ stars employ.

The event raised $9 million for his campaign — I wonder how much of it is going to Extra TV for its bias coverage of the election.
I just heard some more Hate Filled Leftists decided to steal Palins Emails and put them on the internet…How low can the Left go…I tell you Matt and Candy Bergman I am more scared of criminal leftists who think anything is justified if they don’t want someone elected. When I think of selfish people I think of Hollywood who love to Hate anyone they disagree with.
I have no desire to go to any more Hollywood movies—why support spoiled Rich haters.

Reneging on his earlier promise, at the last minute Barack Obama refused to accept public funds for his campaign, removing the cap on how much money he can raise and spend…that was the real reason for not accepting public funds, not because he cared about our taxes, but because he could make a lot more from his famous friends. And by the way, the model reporting on the $28,000 a plate extravaganza…exactly what kind of “regular people” did you say were there? How many “regular people” does anyone know that can afford $28,000 a plate meal, plus the $2,500 to watch Barbara S. sing???

I don’t understand why the Republicans are upset because Obama has alot of celebrity supporters……they are people too and have a right to support their choice any way they see fit…the Republicans have lots of millionaire CEO’s and companies giving them fundraisers….WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
LET’S CONCENTRATE ON THE ISSUES PLEASE!!!

It’s shameful how Extra is so blatantly BIASED in their election coverage. I don’t care what a deal or no deal model says…I am not going to vote for a candidate just because a bunch extremely overpaid celebrities throw a fund raiser for him.

I see Extra doesn’t allow REAL opinions to be posted here. They just delete the post if they don’t like it. Protecting the chosen one, huh.

Well, no one ever said actors are required to have brains. I have always thought most of them are self-destructive and in this case, it confirms my feelings about it.

Tim: I wish people like you and the rest of america could look at the glass half full. instead of resenting barack and the hollywood elite, look upon it as the hollywood elite are doing their part to get barack elected without tax payers dollars, unlike mccain who has accepted public financing in the general election, while Obama has opted out of the system.

The campaign goes on and this was already scheduled. At least HE is not using tax payer’s money!!!

With the recent economy crisis, I take a presidential candidate holding a $26,000.00 a plate fund raiser as a slap in the face!!! You stand up and talk about the struggles of middle America and how your Hollywood friends should not forget them. Doesn’t exactly sound like a man of the people to me. Sounds a little more “luxaholic” than anything. Sorry you were “not in a celebratory mood,” but maybe after the day America had you could have rescheduled or even better canceled. The money still would have made its way to your campaign.

Are you kidding me. People not only resent the success and wealth, but EXPECT it to be handed to them for nothing. Get a clue Obama, try living in the real world!
