Inside Barack's Beverly Hills Fundrai$er

Inside Barack's Beverly Hills Fundrai$er

Presidential candidate Barack Obama took a detour from battleground states to attend a star-studded Beverly Hills fundraiser in his honor -- and "Deal or No Deal" model Claudia Jordan gave "Extra" the scoop on the star-studded bash.

Political singing queen Barbra Streisand took the stage to support Obama -- and Claudia said Babs had a beef with the GOP! "She was angry at how Barack Obama was being described by the Republican Party."

Barack stated that despite the celebratory nature of the evening, his focus remained on recent disasters the country has faced. "I'm not in a celebratory mood," he said, before mentioning various crises, including the train crash in Chatsworth, and Hurricane Ike. He encouraged his wealthy supporters to remember the working class his campaign is striving to help. He stated that his bid for the presidency is about "those who will never see the inside of a building like this, and don't resent the success that's represented in this room, but just want the simple chance to be able to find a job that pays a living wage."

The event raised $9 million for his campaign -- and was mocked by John McCain at a rally in Ohio, when he blasted the Illinois senator for professing his commitment to working people "just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends." Jordan blasted this slam, telling "Extra" that "a couple celebrities were there, but it was not a celebrity event. Everyday people were there to support Barack Obama."

This is such BS! Obama has the support of people in Hollywood and there’s nothing wrong with that. Democrats and their ideals are known to be popular with much of Hollyood so there’s no reason to take a cheap shot at him for seeking support from this part of his political base. They have the means to support him and have chosen to do so. Trust me, if McCain had the same kinda support he’d be in LA doing the exact same thing.

I like that Ms. Jordan was able to attend the event and set the record straight. She’s a very good reporter who also has a real presence on TV. Extra should hire her to work for them and take advantage of her full talents. I know I would watch the show more if I knew she was on.

Some of you are really scary and need to actually READ AND LISTEN. The event that Claudia Jordan was at was NOT $28,000 a plate. It was $2,500. There were 2 different events. I was there as well and it wasn’t a star studded event. Also get your panties out of a bunch criticizing Obama and DO YOUR RESEARCH. John McCain had a fund raiser in Florida that asked for $50,000/plate, doesn’t know how many homes he has, is in bed with Big Oil, constantly votes on giving them huge tax breaks(like they need them making RECORD PROFITS WHILE WE ARE ALL STRUGGLING) and his pill popping trophy wife wears $300,000 outfits! So before you open your mouth and your keyboard to trash Obama… know what you are comparing him to! He is what we need right now. And if you are mad that the media shes a more favorable light on Obama… well may be just may be it’s because he is a better candidate and its hard to NOT show that? Geez…. we definitely need more funding for schools in these red states!

This event was $2,500 to get in. All of you people complaining about Obama not being for regular and middle class people, lets about talk McCain saying that if you make less than $5 million a year you are middle class. Or we can bring up how McCain was cheating on his first wife with Cindy McCain and then left her when she became disabled. Or maybe we can talk about how Palin’s husband is apart of a political party that wants to Alaska to secede from the U.S. The hate against Obama is ridiculous and shows the ignorance of many.

This is the man who talks about middle class America like he really knows what it’s all about. It’s funny how he just like the Clintons get swept up in the “CELEBRITY” status and still speak about what middle class America is all about !!Why don’t you live a Middle Class life and than talk about it instead of getting special loans to buy a nice big home and than turn your back on the guy that helped you get the loan.We the MIDDLE CLASS don’t need MR. HARVARD to give us a well preached sermon we go to church for that. We need a LEADER who is not afraid to debate and someone who doesn’t boo-whooo that the question are more difficult for him than the other guy. NOBAMA that is my slogan !!!!

Can there possibly be anyone who still doesn’t know to what depths liberals will sink in order to get what they want? (they think so!)So, for them, it’s not enough to have their opinions, to make their own choices, or to be unendingly bombastic about their endorsements, and just let everyone else do the same with their own opinions. No, they cannot fathom merely standing by their own decisions; they do not feel complete, unless they bash, by whatever means, legal or otherwise, anyone who dares to represent a different way of thinking. To resort to hacking into someone’s PRIVATE e-mail, is the low end of adolescent embarrassment, even for them. How pathetic, to not only try to ‘get something’ on someone they don’t even need to be bothering with, while totally ignoring and minimizing the PUBLIC disgracefulness of their chosen candidate. I don’t want someone in office who gets THOSE type of people to vote for him.

$28,000 a plate is unbelievable and to think everyday people were at Obama’s fundraiser! When pigs fly….I am a everyday person who works hard for the money I make to support my children and there is no way I could afford to pay that even if I believed in the candidate.

It is ridiculous what each candidate can raise for his campaign. Too bad they wouldn’t cough it up (even if it was one month’s worth) to help with the country’s financial woes. Now that would be leadership!

Celebrities, sports figures and Oprah are not everyday average people. It is ridiculous what they make per year. These people are for entertainment value only. I do not care their view point and do not want to hear it. Entertain me but leave your voice boxes at home.

I can’t believe you let your reporter get away with saying there were a few celebrities there, and the rest were “everyday people” Hello! Everyday people don’t pay $28,000 for a meal, no matter who is speaking. Wake up, people!

$28,000.00 for a plate of food and a few songs from Straisand. Has the world gone mad. I don’t care who you are or what you do but for heaven’s sake stop sitting on your brains. We are headed for economic disaster and the average Joe Blow is already feeling the hardship. Now, on top of the hardship we have to hear crap about people spending $28,000.00 for a plate of food. What a slap in the face to the American people. Shame on Obama who should have used his head and stayed away. I think this has truly hurt his image.

What is Babs still doing here? Didn’t she threaten to leave the US if Bush was re-elected? Just another Democrat blowing off their big mouths!!! Oh, by the way, I’m a Democrat and sometimes not too proud of it!

I was stunned at the big deal made over how much Palin spent on her clothes on nomination night or who dressed her. Well how much did Michelle Obama or Mrs. Biden spend??? And frankly who cares? Of course they all wanted to look nice, but I am a lot more interested in the fact that Sarh Palin established to all the world that she can GOVERN and look nice doing it!!!

Obama always rants about ‘sharing the wealth’, right? I know he’s not using 9 mil for himself or his campaign - he’s getting a head start on sharing the wealth - RIGHT????? I’m waiting…

CWright - you’re right! Celebs are real people to! Oh….except when they get loads of free stuff even though they have the money to pay for it. And did you hear this one?? Celebs are getting really ticked because the gov’t is making them pay taxes on all of their free stuff. To think that they don’t like taxes! I guess they are real people. And they’re voting for Obama because????

Jill - are you kidding me? He’s not using tax payor’s money? What do you think he has done in Illinois? And what exactly do you think he’s going to do in Washington? Better believe he’ll be using tax payor’s money…and them some! He WILL raise your taxes.

Just saw the broadcast on Obamas $28,000 a plate fundrasier. And your little female reporter, who was there, reported that a “few celebs” were there, but the place was mostly full of deveryday people.
Who in the hell of regular people can afford to spend $28,000 dollars for a meal. NONE that I know of. Talk about media manipulation for the leftists. But that figures, your all in Hollywood too.
