Inside Barack's Beverly Hills Fundrai$er

Inside Barack's Beverly Hills Fundrai$er

Presidential candidate Barack Obama took a detour from battleground states to attend a star-studded Beverly Hills fundraiser in his honor -- and "Deal or No Deal" model Claudia Jordan gave "Extra" the scoop on the star-studded bash.

Political singing queen Barbra Streisand took the stage to support Obama -- and Claudia said Babs had a beef with the GOP! "She was angry at how Barack Obama was being described by the Republican Party."

Barack stated that despite the celebratory nature of the evening, his focus remained on recent disasters the country has faced. "I'm not in a celebratory mood," he said, before mentioning various crises, including the train crash in Chatsworth, and Hurricane Ike. He encouraged his wealthy supporters to remember the working class his campaign is striving to help. He stated that his bid for the presidency is about "those who will never see the inside of a building like this, and don't resent the success that's represented in this room, but just want the simple chance to be able to find a job that pays a living wage."

The event raised $9 million for his campaign -- and was mocked by John McCain at a rally in Ohio, when he blasted the Illinois senator for professing his commitment to working people "just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends." Jordan blasted this slam, telling "Extra" that "a couple celebrities were there, but it was not a celebrity event. Everyday people were there to support Barack Obama."

Here we go again, really how much money is needed-why not take that 9 mill and donate it to the victims of our latest hurricains, help the homeless before winter is here. It only proves his love of the wealthy. Fund raisers like this is not Economic Empowerment, it is a tax rite-off for the wealthy. Americans have really been brain washed.

I like the fact that Obama kept to what was going on the country..staying close to the ppl. who were facing difficult times…I live where Ike came through and appreciated the thoughtfulness of Ms. Jordan for sharing that with us! Maybe she can come to mississippi for the debate friday for more great reporting!

WHOA… what’s going on with the haters?! I think it is great Claudia Jordan was there to report on this event. She can report from an objective stand point, as she did not come from money and has gotten to where she is through hard work and perseverance. Not only can she relate to women, she can relate to the black community, and people of all social classes. Its about time we have a down to earth person reporting the story. You go girl AND GO OBAMA!!!

Extra is goin down the tubes by letting this chick who is drunk every night of the week and has slept her way through the NFL cover anything political. Claudia Jordan lacks class, intelligence and grace. She is fine for the Jamie Foxx show but not Extra. Too trashy!

Shall I pass some more glasses around for all of the Hater-Aide that’s being poured? Its evident that Obama has supporters in every tax bracket, as does McCain so WHO CARES??? If you’re mad about not being able to attend a $2500 a plate fundraiser then step your game up so that you can attend, and stop hating!! Claudia I support and applaud you for your efforts in keeping us informed, period.

I am sorry, I didn’t read…I now see that Claudia is a model on Deal or no Deal. I just couldn’t figure out why all the posts were referencing her. I am still not sure. But at least I now know who she is!

Is this blog about Obama or Claudia? I am sure she is a great person. I just don’t know who she is. I see no problem in reaching out to celebriteis for support. In these times they often have the ear for the masses. I look at Harry Connick Jr, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, and of course Oprah…when they talk people listen. It is great to see everyone rally behind a person who wants not just change, but economic empowerment, healthy foreign relations, and to stop this crazy war!

“She was angry at how Barack Obama was being described by the Republican Party.” The ultimate in liberal double-standard, two-faced, hypocritical rhetoric. barbra streisman has constantly said off-the-wall garbage about McCain(since, apparently, that’s all she’s capable of), just like some of her other celeb cronies. And they all say it freely and with regularity, like it their civic duty, and they have every right to say so. Somebody says ONE THING about obama, and those same people start freaking out like the very life is being sucked right out of them!!! Just like that idiot, sandra bernhardt, w/ the disgusting Palin comment (‘if she comes to NY, my black brothers’…)Talk about being angry at a comment. If someone made that sort of reference to obama, there would be a free-for-all!

I love the fact that Obama is for the common man. He made it clear that, he has love for the wealthy, but he is certainly not jaded by it. I can’t say the same for the actual celebrities. I hope this isn’t a honeymoom phase, which we often see with celebrities. They sing the song, but 6 months later they are no where to be found, except a club or on a red carpet trying to promote something to get more money in their pockets.

It is good to see a person that has wit and charisma cover this event, all the while remembering what the event was about!

no offense, but it was a celebrity event, BUT that is o.k. celebrities are people too. they often are written off b/c of the partying, shopping, and living the lavish life so to speak. it makes it difficult for the common man to see where a celebrity would, could, and should fit in to the problems of the world. when it is all said and done all of us suffer because of neglectful and irresponsible leadership. i think more coverage should be done to show that he is a man of all people. it doesn’t matter if you are black, yellow, purple, rich, or poor!

Come on…canidates have and always will get the support from people, if they so happen to be famous so what?
Its been done before and will continue to be done long after this election. It only becomes an issue when the other side feels they have to take stabs at the other canidate because they are following behind or are not favorable anymore.

Thanks Claudia for giving us the inside scoop and the behind the scenes thoughts. Claudia has a great connection with the audience, her tell it like it is style connects us to what she is reporting about whether its a celebraty event, sports event, political event or just throwing in her two cents..You are the real deal and much luck and success to you.

The whole political process as a whole is horrid. Of course these people that we elect into office will be held accountable for so many more things than an everday person would but Damn, these people ARE just like you and me! They are human beings! They and their familes should not be picked apart and have every flawed moment of their lives displayed. People/Celebrities are all going to pick a side, why is it such a big deal that they have chosen Obama’s and are openely campaigning or showing support for him? Barack just makes that connection with people of all walks of life. You can sense sincerity in his eyes. He really and truly does want to help change the world. We all do. He brings hope, and where there’s hope, there’s a chance, and where there’s a chance, there’s an opportunity to do GREAT THINGS. OBAMA, MCCAIN, They are only men, we must remember that! We, as Americans have to make the difference!

It was great to see the addition of Claudia to the show. I have followed her career for years and it’s wonderful to see her talents recognized. This has been evident in her modeling, radio, and now TV for Extra. Claudia makes it easy to get captivated by her appearance; however, when you get an opportunity to listen to her work, you realize she is extremely intelligent with valid opinions on vital topics. I am sure my views are shared by many, and we hope to see more of her.

So whats the problem with celebs getting involved in politics. If they didn’t people say that celebs only care about their fame. YOu can’t have it both ways. Like McCAin doesn’t have any celebs supporting him. He is playing on the middleclass ignorance to a tee. He scares them into thinking the US would be doomed if Obama took over. Last I checked it was his boy George “Dubuya” Bush who has placed the good ole USA in such a despicable position financially and is the main reason we have lost respect throughout the world. Because of Bush, we have over 4000 soldiers who are now kissing the sky(hendricks term for the dead). We are suppose to be the most powerful country in the world yet we are easily scared of anyone or any country who may not live like we do. Claudia Jordan made an excellent report and if I remember correctly, she stated it was $2500 a plate. Did mccain do a similar dinner that was much more? I tell you right now, McCain and Palin are the biggest political frauds since MilliVanilli. How do you delay your presidential campaign and try to have it the same day of the VP?? They are scared because Palin is not equipped to be VP. As much as Repubs were so anamored with Palin, one would think they would put her out there as much as possible yet she is still hiding and rarely speaks to the press. FAce it, McCain fucked up. If he was really serious about his presidency and wanted a woman VP, there were MORE QUALIFIED LADIES THAT COULD HAVE DONE THE JOB. Now the repubs have easily one of the most embarrassing Presidential & VP ticket in the history of politics regardless of party affliation. If Obama was white it would have been a wrap but since he isn’t he is in a much bigger dog fight.
