Obama Cancels 'SNL' Due to Hurricane Ike

Live from New York, it's Michael Phelps hosting "SNL" -- without scheduled guest Barack Obama. The Illinois senator canceled plans to appear on the sketch comedy show due to the severity of Hurricane Ike, which hit Texas Friday night.

"If it's serious, it will change everything for us," SNL creator-producer Lorne Michaels told Politico yesterday. "The tone of the show will shift, and it would be inappropriate for the senator to do if it looks in any way like it's (Ike) going to be a tragedy."

Obama's opponent, GOP nominee John McCain, is scheduled to appear at a NASCAR race at the New Hampshire International Speedway on Sunday. There has been no word yet if he will cancel.

Golden boy Michael Phelps will host tonight's premiere of "SNL," where talk has it that funnywoman Tina Fey will portray GOP VP hopeful Sarah Palin, because "the whole world cast her in that role," Lorne told AP earlier this week.

Rose, I don’t think abyone is really ASKING YOU to VOTE for Obama. We need up and coming individuals who are for the good of the people, not ones who want someone like a McCain who is an exact REPLICA of George W. and his illerate son George running this county! Get a life!

By the way, Amy, I agree with you. He should go to ABC to do interview with Charlie and see how well he can do. But no matter what I’m NOT going to vote for him. Demecrats have a wrong person to be candidate. We can’t have a guy who spent most of his very short political life running for offices to be our leader. I won’t vote for any party, I’m voting for an individual who is truly qualified to be the president of our country.

Not like I want to see him on SNL, what he can do for Ike? He’s not president or local offical who can make docesions. I’m so disgussed that he acts like a president already. When he does re-schedule to appear on SNL I would turn to other channels. I’m sick of seeing him feeling like some hot shot.

I applaud Barack Obama…he’s focusing on what’s MORE IMPORTANT at this time..SNL? or Hurricane Ike? of course, it’s the Hurricane..Lives are in danger here..he’s making sure everyone involved is getting the help they need..and making sure things are ok over there..he could ALWAYS reschedule SNL…it’s a great show..I love it!…it’s always goin be there…and plus, he’s BARACK OBAMA!!!…they will be thrilled to have him come on the show soon and he will..in due time..

Yeah - it would be good to start focusing on serious TV interviews. Try Charile at ABC…I think he’s voting for you!
