McCain Gives Shoutout to Obama

0905mccain.jpg

GOP presidential hopeful John McCain accepted his party's nomination, and gave a nod to rival Barack Obama at the RNC in St. Paul, Minn. last night. "Despite our differences, much more unites us than divides us," the Senator told a screaming crowd.

Echoing Obama's call for change, McCain asserted, "Let me just offer an advance warning to the old, big-spending, do-nothing, me-first-country-second crowd: Change is coming."

McCain, 72, vowed to include both Republicans and Democrats in his administration, and said, "I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again."

The Senator spoke of his years as a POW in Vietnam, during which he shrank to 100 pounds, revealing, "I couldn't even feed myself." That experience, he said, inspired him to run for president. Taking a jab at Obama, McCain declared, "I'm not running for president because I think I'm blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need. My country saved me... and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her for as long as I draw breath, so help me God."

Wife Cindy, 55, spoke earlier, saying, "You can trust his hand at the wheel. But you know what -- I've always thought it's a good idea to have a woman's hand on the wheel, as well. So how about Gov. Sarah Palin?!"

Palin's address on Wednesday drew 37 million viewers -- just shy of Obama's history-making acceptance speech.

McCain has always stated that he would work w/ both Reps. AND Dems. for the good of the country. That’s probably why some very conservative people think he’s a bit to the left, as Republicans go. I truly feel that he’ll do what’s best for ALL of us, because he loves this country, and ALL who live here.

Correct! Listen to CNN and Fox if you want to get both sides. I’d stay away from MSNBC; I’ve found them to be too far to the left, sarcastic, and militant, and not in a good way. I embrace some conservative, and a few liberal viewpoints, as well as both dem and rep, but they are really running that show for their own purposes.I’m appalled that people who educate themselves to be journalists, reporters, and correspondents, would demean themselves to such an embarrassing extent; it’s really like watching a bad car accident. Talk about wasted education. PS: I didn’t see my post (maybe extra got scared!) re: Roe v Wade, addressing your fear. I don’t want it to be overturned either, but, we’ve had several pro-life, Rep. pres. since 1973, and that law has not been touched. It’s mostly protected by the courts.I say this because many women won’t vote for someone pro-life (they’re allowed to be against ab.; it’s admirable to hold to that if that’s how you feel), when there are many other issues more pressing right now. What we have to worry about, thx to ‘clownnton’, is that partial-birth insanity. I’m sorry, that is just wrong - very, very wrong.

Hill,
Not to offend you, I value your views, all though we clearly differ. I am really hoping that you check out the facts, visit both of the parties websites, as they are very informative.

None of that scares me half as much as what scares me about obama. So,the bottom line is, everyone is concerned about somehing - I prefer not to stretch out and exaggerate the negatives of a potential vice president, while I’m concerned about what is being glided over or softened about a potential PRESIDENT. As for a debate, get back to me when YOU can spell. Do not gauge someone’s intellegence on whether or not they agree w/ you - you might be disappointed in the end.

Do your research hill, have you heard the interview with Palin when she was questioned about being on the short list? she said, ” I may consider once someone explains to me what the VP actually does” That is concerning, the reporter was taken back, as I was when I heard it. You can find it on line.

In addition, Palin supported the bridge to no where, until she saw the backlash.

In addition, when Palin was mayor in Wasilla, Alaska, she fired the local librarian because she would not remove certain books that pertained to evolution, the town folk demanded that the librarian get her job back as that was an extremist move… one example of Palin misusing her power.

In addition, Palin is a non-believer of global warming, which is very concering, as it is likely she will not try and help the studies.

As for the insane, I just thought you misspelled the word, as you don’t seem to be the most intelligent person I have had the chance to debate with.

I’ve not really heard of anyone where I’m from being concerned about Obama’s being bi-racial. I personally don’t give two figs, but there are also those who won’t say a peep, lest al sharpton come at them w/ a clenched fist and a protest sign! The concerns I have are from the ‘FACTS’ that are out there, while everyone’s trying to grasp at straws of negativity regarding a potential VICE (ya hear me, - VICE!)president. He has and is associated w/ those who do NOT have the best interest of this country at heart. His SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE comes from a dangerous racist who hates America. He wants MORE help, through taxes, for the poor (because they don’t get enough - since when does poor mean incapable of work???)He wants socialized medicine, which speaks for itself. For crying out loud, this guy even refuses to say a Pledge of Allegiance to the very country he’s courting. He thinks he’s going to stop the war w/ a wave of his hand. There’s more to be frightened of; like the school… He’s for change, all right. Get ready to be fitted for your uniform. Oh, and side bar to NC ONE- I said, INANE, not INSANE.I wouldn’t ever say that. And, McCain is NOT Bush. I know people like to keep chanting that they’re the same; that’s so played out, it’s funny.

McSame/Palin is against Row VS Wade. And will fight to get it reversed. Why have you not mentioned when the question was asked to Palin about her being on the short list of candidates she said ” she may consider once someone explains to her what that VP actually does!” the reporter was taken back by that, I can’t believe someone that is experienced would let herself be recorded saying such a thing… I am sure you can find that interview, I just heard in last night. AS a mayor in Wasilla, Palin fired the librarian because she would not remove books related to evolution, as a result the people of Wasilla were upset and demanded the librarian get her job back. These actual events are important, and I hope that you take notice.

- Something to consider.

My favorite part of his speech was when he said he understands how hard people are having it “losing their real estate investments…because of the real estate market”. Hello what about the people that lost their HOMES!!!! Investments…yea he’s in touch.

Hill one other note, just because you may not agree with me does not make my comments insane, you should take a closer look at what I post,I pretty much stick to the facts. Hey, and thanks for noticing, that means I am doing what I hoped for to keep it real, and to have folks like you think.

Additionally I am a reformed Republican, I was a campaigner for the Bush/Cheney race in 2004, but I see what we need is change, can’t afford another 4 years!

Hill, no doubt. I like this website because it does give other’s perspective. You would defend someone you believe in to, that is why I respond to ignorant comments , stick to the facts, what I have seen more and more is people umcomfortable with Obamas skin color, verses the issues.

Wow, NC ONE, I see your posts all over the place, and they get more and more inane. Maybe you should actually read some of the other posts, just to get a little perspective. It’s the swing too much to the ignorant side of the left. That’s where the only defense is to insult, not being properly equipped w/ how to process fairly and objectively, the information they are fed.People are allowed freedom of opinion, EVEN IF it doesn’t jibe w/ your own. EVERYONE knows far left liberals deny this, because they need constant validation. If you’re sure of your opinion, that is usually not the case, my dear.Your opinion is no more valid than mine or anyone else’s. It’s no more right and no more wrong - it’s just an opinion.

obama’s made an observation that McCain’s speech was more bio than issues. The thing is, that his bio is a great window into how he will deal with the issues. I’m sure obama is proud of his past, right??

You know what? Aside from everything else he’s said and done, that I’m mostly in agreement with, I believe him when he says: 1.(re: obama) more unites us than divides us, 2.I will reach out my hand to anyone (ref. to dems & reps.), 3. My country saved me, and I cannot forget it. I’d feel safe w/ someone like this, who’s proven that he’ll put his country first - that’s of dire importance to me right now. All other issues are secondary, but WILL fall into place, w/ him guiding us. I don’t believe it’ll be 8 more yrs of the same; it’s a different time now, and he’s already seen the ravages of war, and has bounced back. I think he’ll apply that to his presidency w/ great conviction. Just my opinion.
