Dr. Funk: How to Prevent Breast Cancer

"Extra" Lifechanger and Dr. Kristi Funk is giving you the lowdown on how you can help prevent the contraction of breast cancer -- from when to get mammograms to how weight determines your risk.

NEXT: '90210' Starlets: Are They Too Thin?

Dr. Funk was my surgeon and she is one of the most respected surgeons in her field. You can criticize all you want to “just observing”, but if you were ever diagnosed with breast cancer, there is no one better. I’m just observing that your opinion comes from a highly uninformed one.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Sept. 2004 at the age of 56. I would like to know what Dr. Funk thinks of the bioidentical hormones?

You can’t “contract” cancer — it’s not contagious.

Contract: to get or acquire, as by exposure to something contagious: to contract a disease.

I’m an LA doc and I tell a lot of my patients to use WebMD as well, but last I heard she was Sheryl Crow’s surgeon and one of the busiest and most respected ones in the state. I’d actually rather hear from her than see a templated write-up on WebMD.

Um, I would not exactly solicit or follow advice from an ENTERTAINMENT website. .. There are plenty of reliable, thorough, more appropriate avenues to answer your inquiries. webmd… american cancer society or just two that come to mind… You’re going to leave your health to a site that in publicizing Jennifer Anniston’s latest man toy and touting 90210???!!!

I was 38 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and also weigh what I did in high school. Do drink green tea, eat flaxseed and stay away from sugar!! Sugar fuels cancer cells growth.

I was wondering, my grandmother, mother and sister all had breast cancer. My older sister had the most aggressive type and had a double masectomy Is it true the denser the breast tissue the harder cancer is to find? Is the more advance tests which can be done for women with high family risk, and dense breasts?

I beg to differ with you at the age of 32 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I weighed what I did in high school. Sorry I do not agree with what you are saying.
