Shoring Up Your Hamptons Beachfront Knowledge
The stars certainly know the Hamptons are where it's at for chic getaways, but since not all of us receive invites to the posh parties and premieres, here's the scoop on this ritzy summer retreat!

Our Luxaholic ears perk up at the mere mention of the word "Hamptons." Here's what you need to know to be in the know:
The string of towns that comprise the Hamptons are at the Eastern end of Long Island, 2.5 hours from NYC, with some of the best beaches in the world and the most luxurious homes imaginable.
Southampton -- The most exclusive of the "Hamptons." This is mostly old, old money with huge rambling estates.
Famous Residents: Tiger Woods, and the late Jackie O summered here.
Luxe Spots: Parrish Art Museum, Saks Fifth Avenue
Bridgehampton -- Considered one of the quieter Hamptons, this posh community is known for its polo and horse shows.
Famous Residents: Kelly Ripa, Christie Brinkley, Chuck Close
Luxe Spots: Bridgehampton Polo Club, Candy Kitchen, World Pie (Pizza), Wolffer Estate Vineyard
East Hampton -- Also fabulously tony, often referred to as the "Playground of the Rich."
Famous Residents: P. Diddy, Jerry Seinfeld, Martha Stewart, Steven Spielberg
Luxe Spots: Tory Burch, Coach, Scoop, Tiffany, East Hampton Historical Society, Guild Hall
Sag Harbor -- This former whaling town was written about in "Moby Dick." It is low-key, funky and quaint.
Famous Resident: Jackson Pollack lived here.
Luxe Spots: Calypso, Sylvester & Co., Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum
Montauk -- At the easternmost tip of Long Island, Montauk is pristine and remote. It used to called the "un-Hampton," but now it's the hip Hampton.
Famous Residents: Ralph Lauren, once Andy Warhol's Factory getaway.
Luxe Spots: The Surf Lodge, At Home en Provence, whale watching expeditions.
