New Judge Added to 'Idol'

There's a new judge in town! Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi will join Simon, Paula and Randy as a fourth "Idol" judge.
"We are turning the heat up on 'Idol' this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges' table," said executive producer Simon Fuller. "She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show."
As surprising as the addition may be, four judges had been planned all along. "We've seen from our international series that having a fourth judge creates a dynamic that benefits both the contestants and the viewers," added executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz.
And talk about creds -- Kara's songs have appeared on more than 100 million records, including those of Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood.
The next season of "Idol" premieres in January on FOX.

I loved the three Judges and Ryan as Host. I don’t know why they feel they need a fourth judge. The three they have are very intelligent enough to judge the contestants. I know that Simon’s answers are more of a put on which has made him famous, and to me he is still a doll, his girlfriend is very fortunate to have him. I think he is funny with a great sense of humor. paula, I enjoy her as she tries to be really kind to eveyone, so she may slur her words and may forget what she is saying and sometimes she doesn’t make sense, but she has medical issues and everyone should over look that. The thing is she knows a good voice when she hears it. And Randy does also. They are all great judges and really don’t need a fourth. but we will see how it goes, if ratings drop then they should go back to the old way of doing things. Can’t wait to see you guys all in action again in Jan. The best show on TV.
