McCain Picks 'Hockey Mom' for VP

0829mccainpalin.jpg

GOP Presidential nominee John McCain has picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for his VP, a self-styled "hockey mom" and little known Alaska governor.

Palin, 44, is a first-term governor, pro-life advocate, former beauty queen -- and hockey player. She's been described as "tough as nails" -- and when she was young, her father reportedly took her moose hunting in the middle of the night.

She is the first female running mate on a Republican presidential ticket.

The pick comes as a surprise, as Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty was thought to be the top choice.

Sarah is a mom to five -- Bristol, Willow, Piper, Track and Trig, who was born in April with Down syndrome.

Alexis(20yr), we are not afraid of a little color in the White House, we’re afraid of ignorance and inexperience. When a man who is said to be intelligent totally disregards a large segment of the voters you have to wonder if the elevator travels to the top floor. I don’t have to wonder about your ignorance it shows in your writing and spelling.

Janice: You’ve done it again! I’d like to add that, since Palin was announced, straw-grasping has hit a new low. From MSNBC’s absolutely puerile ‘breaking news’ headline, to the negative moose-stew and gun-totin’ mama comments, to pointing out her pregnant teen,(let he who is w/o sin…), to being a gov. of such a small town(????)and so on. The taste of sour grapes, mixed w/desperation, must be very damaging to the brain, as well as the stomach!A certain group always embraces, or dictates to us, to embrace the differences in others. Except that they have the list of whose differences are acceptable, and let fly with the venom when the target is someone they can’t or won’t understand. It’s pathetic, and, in this unstable time, dangerous. If you listen to the great spin drs. of the media, you’ll end up so confused, you won’t even know who you are, much less for whom to vote. When I read,”Obama will be left with the hard-left-wing Dem’s and the race voters..”,I thought, that alone should be enough to scare anyone straight.Big picture, people

I just said last week that I wasn’t going to vote this time unless McCain picked a Pro-Life woman running mate, but I didn’t think he was smart enough to do that. What do you know, he did, and from everything I’ve read about her she’s AWESOME!!! I’m an issue voter and abortion is against my religion.

OBAMA WAS TOO STUBBORN TO PUT THE ONE PERSON AS A RUNNING MATE TO SEAL THE DEAL! GOOD FOR MCCAIN FOR PICKING A SMART WOMAN TO RUN WITH HIM. THIS SHOWS ME HE’S SENSITIVE ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT, AND THAT’S WHAT I WANT A SENSITIVE, COMPASSIONATE PERSON TO RUN MY COUNTRY!

Thanks Stef! You’re right on! Obama-ites are scared silly and running panicked…Obama just bent over backwards to kiss up to Hillary fans…only to lose them in one sweeping and bold move by McCain. To all these now-desperate Dem’s out there…Who want to hammer in that women are stupid if they choose McCain/Palin…what obvious fear-mongering…do you really think that all of these bright, intelligent women will fall for your sexism, your attempts to “dumb-down” women who are absolutely passionate about the savy and attentive choice McCain has made to serve the women of this great country?

McCain has won in a coup that over 1/2 the population is wildly passionate about! He has cinched this presidency and ObSama Bin LAden has lost by his sexist, arrogant ‘good ‘ol boy’ cowardice. Palin is a mother of FIVE AND has 13 years in elected office as a reformer…the sad death knoll peals for Obama…his experience is rivaled by Palin’s…but he’s seeking top job and has never run anything. He can’t put down Palin without condemning himself!

McCain is a young 72 and on the wild chance something happened to him…Palin could more than handle all for a few years with his elected cabinet and the checks & balance system. In 12 years though…she’ll be a top contender for president after they win this fall :).

All conservatives, all undecided Hillary fans and independents (like me), all antil-Obama-ites, all for-women votes will be more than enough to cinch the win for McCain…
All he has to do is pick up where Hillary left off, keep running her ads, rack up the massive and free coverage of his VP pick and the republican convention…and spend a little cash near the end to pick up the few undecides left.

Obama will be left with the hard-left-wing Dem’s and the race voters. Not enough to come close to Al Gore’s previous % of the vote.

Obama was desperate in his VP pick, McCain was a Genius in his.

What an absolute coup!!! I’m an independent, undecided. I was fond of Hillary, can’t stand Obama, especially after he proved how un-changed he was in his pic for VP. He pathetically choose the low-hanging fruit/perceived safety before his entire platform on change. What change? We now have 3/4 white Dem. ticket and 100% male. That dash of arrogance doesn’t win over my vote.

McCain just proved he is for change, not by copying Obama’s VP choice, but raising the bar and having the guts to take a stand. He responded to America’s voice for a true change in politics, the message every Hilary supporter sent by voting for her. This nation is absolutely ready for elected women in the White House. Ready to change the sweltering sexism that has plagued over HALF of this nation’s population of every race and color.

McCain has shown himself to be an unabashed liberator to the most oppressed segment of society in the history of the world and Obama instead cowardly shirked his duty to hear the voice of the women of America! His back-pedaling has already begun, his candidacy just had a huge hole punched in it that is rapidly filling with criticism.

Undecideds, independents, republicans, and even democrats will be flooding over to the Real man in this campaign, one who can admit the right woman is absolutely capable to do any job.

I don’t think being in the PTA,baking cookies, being a beauty queen, shooting moose can hardly counts as experience. She has been in office for 1 1/2 years. She was a mayor of a small town of 600 people or so…I have been there, it is a Mayberry folks, now she is ready for such as big role? She would be in shock in DC. We are in a world of trouble should this wacky partnership come to be. McCain has only known her for 6 mos. met her once, this shows he is sea- nile… he has lost his marbles, at least we can see this now, and still have a choice in our future.

Let’s all agree on one thing. If you support Obama it doesn’t matter who his or McCain’s running mate is. If you support McCain it doesn’t matter what Obama and his supporters think he represents. Some of us have made up our minds and NOTHING either side says or does is going to change it. Obama disregarded Hillary Clinton’s supporters, and McCain used that mistake to his advantage. Both sides are going to use people to get to the White House. We probably all agree on that. Our job as voters is to talk the undeciced to vote for our candidate. I am going to do my part to get the McCain/Palin ticket elected. I am a MINORITY, and this is NOT my first election. It will be the first time I will vote for the Republican candidates. Obama lost me at Biden, I can’t stand Oprah, and I always voted for the Clintons. Good-bye Democrats…see you on the campaign trail.

Obama has no Presidential qualifications. He has done nothing to qualify him to be President. Nothing. Both McCain and Sara Palin have worked for change. Look oh smart ones at the records of those you want to vote for. Do the research.

Bidden is a “Good old Boy” and has none nothing in the last 30 plus years.

McCain had only met Gov. Palin twice when he offered her a crucial position in our government - on their second meeting? Seriously?! He barely knows her. This is sound decision making on his part?

I just became an Obama supporter. John has lost it.

I was undecided in this election prior to McCain’s choice. I certainly have some concerns about McCain due to his age and long term politicians always seem to be to experienced at telling us what they think we want to hear and doing whatever they feel like doing. However, Obama has that behavior already down to a tee himself even though he is a great deal less experience. He puts on shows. While visiting troops he did some very brief photo shoots but, then ignored our troops. It does not matter what anyone thinks of the war these men and women are serving our country and deserve our respect and admiration. Please before anyone tries to say this is not true I have a brother in law that provided this statement to me first hand. He is a member of our military that was there for the visit. Obama’s camp can spin it any way they want the truth is Obama was putting on a show and the truth was not in the media about this. That said I still had considered him until McCain’s nomination. Since I feel that Obama’s VP of choice will be much the same as we would get from McCain or Obama the only real chance of change we have on any ticket is Sara Palin. Thus this nomination today made my decision for me. I am voting McCain. I also have family very active in Washington DC some on each side of this issue but, let me say they all agree that Palin will try to change things. While some feel she will be shut down and very annoying, and others feel she will just keep fighting and will shake things up they all agree she is not the status quo that DC has grown accustomed to. Certainly for me that is exactly what I want to hear. I had almost given up hope that any candidate from Mayor to President would ever truly want to represent the people I have renewed hope now thanks to Palin.
