Jerry Lewis on Gun Charges: 'Honest Mistake!'

Just days before Jerry Lewis' 43rd Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon, "Extra" sat down with the legendary comedian -- who said getting busted on gun charges at a Vegas airport was a mistake!

"I had a gun in my briefcase and I didn't remember," he explains. "It was made as a gift to me by a gunmaker in Ohio. He gave it to me as a gift and I put it in my case. I got fined and I have to go to court."

I have been watching your telethon and watching your movies scence i was a kid. my father was a fireman and we went door to door with his boot to collect money for MDA WE WOULD DRIVE DOWN TOWN SEATTLE IN THE FAMILY STATION WAGON to drop off the boot contents to our local television station KCPQ 13. This year I am honored as an adult to be on the show with the company I work for, KID’S COUNTRY LEARNING CENTER to answer phone calls and match pledges. My life is full of comedy, and people that make me laugh, YOU MAKE ME LAUGH & smile TOO. We both make children laugh too! THANK YOU MR. JERRY LEWIS

It’s absurd that they should even bother Jerry Lewis. He is such a unbelievable great comic and has such a great big heart for his kids. I don’t know where the telethon would be without him. There has been a lot of progress since he started many years ago. And I like thousands of other people know that the thanks goes to him. So take a minute out of your Labor Day weekend and please donate to Jerry’s kids. If you had a child in a wheel chair you would do anything in the world to get him out of it. So please give anything to help them find a cure. Remember too that it can strike anyone at any age. Thanks Jerry, WE LOVE YOU.
