Does McCain's Pick Help His Chances?
John McCain has picked Sarah Palin to be his veep -- in a move that makes the 2008 election even more historic.

If you weren't a McCain supporter before -- are you now?

John McCain has picked Sarah Palin to be his veep -- in a move that makes the 2008 election even more historic.

If you weren't a McCain supporter before -- are you now?

Talk about obvious.
McCain’s so hurting after the show of strength the DNC put on he had to offer up a token woman who’s 1) pro oil drilling in Alaska 2) against a woman’s right to choose 3) a card carrying member of the NRA 4) a former beauty queen.
Well if nothing else the Republicans are predictable. If there was any doubt McCain’s flushed his bid down the crapper it’s over now with the choice of Palin - Alaskas’ version of June Cleaver.
Did McCains selection make a difference for me??
Yep, its gone from McCain to Obama in 1 second. Next time stick with EXPERIENCE,
Nice try McCain, but no cigar. Sarah may be female, but she doesn’t support a woman’s right to choose.
Sarah Palin is the tipping point to gain my vote for McCain/Palin. Her experience as Governor is more impressive and substantial than that of all three Senators vying for the Presidential Office.
I am a 70 year old female. I place my vote based on the candidates approach to ALL issues. The fact that a candidate is male or female is of no importance.
…………and by the way, what is the population of Alaska? Perhaps a few hundred thousand. If Sarah Palin has governed only that many people, does that qualify her to potentially be the leader of the free world? Not in my estimation………..
Honestly as a female, I feel insulted with McCain’s pick, why, well do he really think because he got a “female”, with 2 yrs governor exp no foreign exp, a pretty face, can fish, a son in the military (btw, I have 3 sons so what makes her different) that I now supposed to jump “oh he broke the glass ceiling”. He done what most arrogant, undercover men would do; just throw them a female carrot shape like a vagina and they’re jump through hoops. Grrrrr, the thought of this just turns me red. Hillay didn’t win, but at least I knew she has brains and that might have bothered some men, but to put out someone fully opposite is an insult to me. I think I would vote for Obama at least I’m not “in your face” insulted.
Women in the US should all rejoice. Finally, the majority in this country is represented well. Why shouldn’t women be represented in the White House? I see some emails from women here (see above by two) that WE once again do not support our own.
All that I can say is “Women of America” - if you want to be recognized as equal to your male counterparts and if you want to be paid equally, PLEASE have faith in other women! Sarah Palin is arguably inexperienced - as is Obama. Why is that so disconcerting to other women?
We are the majority in this country and we are under-represented in every senior management position in this country. Please think carefully about what you all want for your daughters. Can they compete equally with the men in the corporate and political world? OR will they, too, need to be at least twice as good as their male counterparts to succeed? Don’t let that happen - regardless of whether you are a Repub or Democ — nothing ever changes without us changing our own minds.
Today’s announcement of Sarah Palin was the tipping point for my vote for McCain/Palin. Sarah Palin’s experience as Governor is more impressive and substantial than the other three male Senators combined. My respect for the USA is now reinvigorated.
I had been on the verge of becoming an “Obamican,” a Republican for Obama.
I was for Obama until I found out he doesn’t believe in the bible and wants to change it. He wants it to be considered “hate speech”…Since I will follow God’s word over man’s perverted judgements I will now be voting for McCain.
Obama all the way! He will bring the change this country needs! I do admire McCain for this very strategic move he made, but I believe people will see right through it! McCain is trying to use Palin’s children to get votes. Her oldest is in the army and her youngest has down syndrome! I feel for the lady, but please let’s make this about CHANGE this country needs instead of the sympathy votes they are trying to get!
McCain is an old man can you imagine if he passes away and this lady takes over.
Lord help th eUSA/
If you want 4 more years like the last 8, then vote for McCain. I personally do not want anything to do with the Republician party. When Clinton was in we at least had money in our pockets. Our nation was in the black, now we are in the Red and owe other countries our soul. I have 3 grandsons in the middle east. One of them is on his 3rd tour. Its time to bring them home. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Bush & cheney have put our country in debt, and no friends. McCain will just be a Bush clone.
I am and always will be for Obama…but the thought of McCain getting the presidency now really scares me. Like someone said in an earlier post…what if something happens to McCain, does she really have it in her to be president. Sorry, but being the “Governor” isn’t very impressive considering she is among the ranks of Arnold Schwarzenegger aka “The Terminator” and Jesse Venture aka “Jake the Snake”. Obviously anyone can be a Governor.
I really like Sarah Palin & I admire John Mcain for his service to our Country. That does NOT mean I will vote for them. Obama is our future and the only one who can and will get us out of the shape our Country has been in for the past 8 years.
Barack Obama is the way we need to go.
I’m still for OBAMA…McCain is too old and his new running mate is too young & too new for me! I just don’t want another 4 years of the republican crap like Bush!!! NO MORE!!!!
I was on the fence between McCain and Obama. Sarah Palin did the trick for sure. It’ll be the first time I’ve ever voted Democrat. They say Obama is inexperienced? What about her? No way could she fulfill the duties if something happened to McCain. This is very discouraging.
On various sites, I’ve read where Obama’s camp is criticizing Sarah Palin for lack of experience. Actually, Palin’s speech and her experience has made an interesting twist on this campaign. Unbelievable! She actually had more experience than Obama and he is running for President! Not to mention she has also more parenting experience than both Obamas combined.
McCain just lost my vote. Hadn’t planned on voting for Obamah, but won’t vote for a right wing bigot that doesn’t recognize a woman’s right to choose, is homophobic, and a NRA nut.
