Barack Makes History

0829obama.jpg

He's officially done it -- Barack Obama is the first African-American to accept a nomination for President.

"The change we need is coming," he told a crowd of 80,000 in front of a Greek-style stage at the DNC in Denver. In one of the most memorable moments, the Illinois Senator said, "What the naysayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me. It's about you."

After the historic speech -- and a fireworks display -- Obama thanked his smiling wife Michelle and their two daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7. VP pick Joe Biden looked on as wife Jill wiped away tears.

Hollywood was also moved by his nomination -- "Lost" star Daniel Dae Kim told AP he hopes his speech "turns into something that changes the world," and Jessica Alba added the night was "incredible." Other big stars at the convention included Fergie, Rosario Dawson, Wilmer Valderrama, Star Jones, Susan Sarandon, Anne Hathaway and Kerry Washington.

Today, Senator John McCain is expected to announce his pick for VP -- and the battle for the White House intensifies.

God help us all. Wake up Americans this guy is a great talker but read between the lines I cetainly do not want his socialism ideas to be put into action if god forbid he would get in. I do not want our government to rule my life. Also, for you peoople who do not know this but when a democrat gets in it makes it harder on the middle class. You see when they go after the rich the rich make the middle class pay for it. You medical insurance in work goes up or is taken away because the big wigs cannot afford it. We the middle class lose out not the rich. Keep that in mind while your under his spell. It’s all talk and promises. When it comes down to it he is just a good speaker but beware that he can make this country much worse.

re: Anonymous (Aug 29)’Obama is the new Clinton’. If THAT doesn’t frighten the rest of you who believe anything that comes out of b.o.’s mouth, nothing will. Do not be fool enough to confuse bravado and one word chants w/ actual proof of leadership, experience, and love of country. (All of the country, not just a certain demog.)

People starting to say he’s a celeb. Why are they mad because he has more fans I mean support. First of all they all speak what we want to hear, but I don’t care to hear or see that stubbie little man with the short arms on stage he’s boreing and I DON’T want to hear his little I mean taller babydoll wife. No way she could hold a speach like ms obama give her 2 minutes to introduce her husbend then go.

Obama is the new Clinton. And Biden can lead the U.S. if he were put in the position.

If McCain’s VP choice were put in a position to lead the USA - we’d be in alot of trouble.
