Savage Autism Remarks Anger Hollywood

Radio talk show host Michael Savage has angered parents all over the country by calling Autism "a fraud" and "a racket" -- saying that "in 99 percent of cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out."

Now the schlock jock is facing a major backlash for bashing parents of Autistic children. NFL veteran Rodney Peete and actress wife Holly Robinson Peete -- who have an Autistic son -- have blasted Savage's comments as "malicious and misguided."

Actress Jenny McCarthy and beau Jim Carrey recently threw a bash to raise funds for Generation Rescue, an organization dedicated to researching Autism. McCarthy is an outspoken advocate of Autism research. Her son, Evan, was diagnosed with the disease at age 2.

Michael Savage is nothing more than a Rush Limbaugh/Bill O’Reily clone. All he does is shoot off his big mouth over things he just doesn’t know anything about. My advice to Savage is to shut the hell up!

there are no drugs or cure for ASD.

I’m a bad parent for not yelling at my kid to stop his hand flapping and act normal?? Yeah, that works real well

Another example of emotions over reason. His comments were taken out of context, but I agree too many are using medical diagnoses to excuse their stupidity!

I don’t need to read his full statement, I’ve listened to him enough on his radio program to know he is an ignorant blowhard who hasn’t a clue about autistic children. If anyone needs to ‘cut the act’ it’s him.

Yet another case of someone not listening to the full statement. I suggest everyone tune in to Mr. Savage’s show or visit his website that accurately displays his comments.
