Winehouse: Testing 1,2,3

Amy Winehouse was permitted to leave a London hospital for a rehearsal yesterday. She has been receiving treatment for a lung ailment after she collapsed last week, reports People.

The singer, 24, went to a practice session for a performance at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday celebration to take place this Friday, and found time to shop for a pair of her trademark pink ballet slippers.

Backtracking from her father's recent report that the "Rehab" singer has emphysema, rep Chris Goodman now says her illness is a "scarring of the lungs which could lead to emphysema. If she keeps doing the wrong things, then it could lead to it. If she does the right things, it won't."

Winehouse has been warned by doctors not to smoke, but she was seen with a lit cigarette outside the hospital. Will she be well enough to perform? "Doctors have to give it the final sign off, but it went well," Goodman said. "She will really enjoy it -- she always does."

Dear Amy, You are so talented. I love your music and am not one to ordiarily follow musicians or stars much becuase my own life is so full… but you break my heart. Can you step back for a minute and look at all this? Can you see what your love of drugs is costing you? I know you don’t care about your life. You throw it away with abandon. You don’t love anyone - not! your precious Blake. You can only love your drugs. Not your family, not your fans, not even your music, only your drugs… And they will take your life very soon at this rate. And you don’t care… and we will be left mourning what was very beautiful for a very breif time and what could have been. If you could only enter treatment and not let anyone else save you from the pain.. face the pain.. embrace the pain.. its okay, its the only way to the other side of it. Thats what I love most about your music, because you look your pain straight on and through, boldly and without grimace. You state plainly what most of us run from and never even get to. Follow your music, Amy. Be who you are.I just hate for the drugs to win on this one. If you’re going to die, die trying…
