Journalists, political leaders and Hollywood stars paid their last respects to "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert at his funeral in Washington, D.C. today.

So many of us never really knew Tim Russet, but he always seemed like family. He would always give it to you straight when it came to politics and the news. Meet the Press will never be the same. Our thouhgts are with his family.

Tim was the greatest. He was the brother you wish you had, the dad you wish you had, the husband you wish you had. Unpretentious, humble, kind, good. And what a dad. Watching Luke and listening to his words on the Today Show earlier this week, I was incredibly impressed. Tim is undoubtedly in heaven, and he’s asking if he can check on the people back home. He is “gone too soon”.

Dear Russert Family:

I am so sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. I won’t pretend to have known your husband but he will be very much missed. I always knew he would give it to us straight on who was running in this election. I hope in some way the feelings of all of us will help in this time of sorrow. But I do like the way Whoppie said it ” Lets celebrate the mans life” He had a great one. God Bless to you and may all our prayers help you through this.

My husband and I were shocked last Friday by the news of Tim Russert’s passing. Even though we live in a small community in WV we felt like we knew him and like he was a friend of ours. He was always even with everyone and we had always thought that he should run for office and we would have voted for him and I believe alot of other people would have too.

I have been watching the Today show for many years and always enjoyed watching Tim Russert’s comments. He will be greatly missed. Through the coverage this week I have come to know him in a different way, I came to know what his faith, family and frends meant to him. He was a man of great faith, values and love for our country. I pray for his family during this time of grief.

I can’t seem to watch the coverage of all the tributes without tears. I always knew I enjoyed Sunday mornings with Tim, but had know idea how much lose I would feel at his passing. The world and especially Washington has lost a shinning star, the likes that we may not see again for some time. With that said my lose is nothing compared to that of his family and close friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have no doubt he was fully responsible for that amazing rainbow over the city he loved so much.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Tim Russert’s family. He was one of a kind and can never be replaced. I never got into the political scene till he came aboard. He was so honest and always asked the right questions and told it like it was. With the elections coming up, I will definitely miss him and his eraseable board being on my tv besides missing him every Sunday morning on Meet the Press. God Bless you and your son and Big Russ.

I have never been very up on politics, however my husband and I watched Meet The Press every Sunday morning while we were getting ready for church. I always found Tim’s show interesting, and I have him to thank for the little I do know about politics. My deepest sympathy goes to his wife and son as well as his father. Sunday mornings will never be the same.
