Tatum's Cleaning Up

0604tatum.jpg

After her unseemly weekend drug bust in New York, "Extra" caught up with actress Tatum O'Neal in NYC, where the mother of three opened up about her recent arrest for buying crack and powdered cocaine -- and how she's on the road to recovery.

"I'm on the road to recovery. It's an every day struggle," said the Oscar winner. "You try to do the best you can -- I go to a 12-step program. I go every single day. Sometimes I go twice a day."

As for her kids' reactions to the arrest, O'Neal says, "How do you think they would be feeling? It's embarrassing, right? They love me very much. They know I have a problem."

The former Mrs. McEnroe will face charges of misdemeanor drug possession -- she was released without bail until her court date later this month.

I regularly watch your show, and usually enjoy it, but was disgusted at the caddy way you poked judgement and negitivity at Tatum Oniel today. Calling it “therapy” time and acting as if she was going on and on(with your clock on screen), when lets face it, it was a whopping ten minutes. If she hadn’t responded you would have knocked her for that.
Apparently it’s O.K. for you to report on HER life and say whatever you want, but how dare she respond, or have a side of her own during a media frenzy about, once again, HER private life.
Maybe what she has to say could actually help someone; some other person struggling about to go do something similar?
I thought she was articulate and calm with the pappanazzi’s, and handled herself with an enormous ammount of grace, all things considered.
It’s no wonder with the way celebs are treated, and hounded, that many of them do end up doing drugs.
You guys should be a lot more kind and compassionate, since ironically, if it wasn’t for celeb’s personal lives and shortcomings, you and your hosts wouldn’t have jobs at all.
I’m sure if any of you had cameras following you around twenty-four- seven, it could be just as humbling a situation. Then again, usually the ones that poke the most fun, are the ones with the most to hide.
