Newman Rumors Continue

0612newman.jpg

Hollywood icon Paul Newman, 83, remains in seclusion as reports circulate about lung cancer. "Extra" goes one-on-one with Michael Andretti, a driver for Newman's race team -- who says he spoke to the Oscar winner just a few months ago.

"I worry about him," said Andretti, "he said he was a little under the weather. I could tell he was a little down -- but could tell there was a lot of fight left."

Now another friend of Newman's, A.E. Hotchner, has revealed to AP that Paul is, in fact, suffering from cancer. Hotchner has since backtracked on his statements, but AP is standing by its story.

Click here to watch the gem that "Extra" has just uncovered -- Newman filming a screen test for "East of Eden" with James Dean in 1955. Newman didn't get the part.

I agree. Paul Newman is a good man; who has done a lot of work for charity. His health is a family matter; and his privacy should be respected. A lot of his friends say he is in better shape than is being reported. Leave this family alone.

Clearly the news doesn’t know the word privacy. If this is true, why does the world need to know, if he chooses to keep it private.

I guess the news industry didn’t learn that in journalism school. But they love starting a story…. “a close friend says….”

Sadly this is probably true. Not surprised that it is being reported — since its all about ratings, ratings, ratings. And, having viewers so you can then pitch products. Have stories that basically revolve around beauty products, hotels etc. Who cares about the person’s right. But then again you talk about the invasive paparazzi at the same time showing tape of them filming star X. No different to them really.

Paul Newman is a lucky guy. The life he has lived is rear. I wish him well. He has made my life happier for having been a part of who I am.

I’m done with these shows. What right do you have to report on someone’s health …. and basing it on what a friend of his says (and then retracts). If his “friend” did say it, what NERVE of that guy to invade Paul Newman’s privacy. And, now you are reporting how his friends are all supporting him. But again, its all for a story, ratings etc. No class in my opinion. It falls under the same crap that you do when filming someone coming out of hospital, looking ill etc. Shameful for this lack of class.
