They deserved it. When they were asked to stop and leave they should have left. When they stayed they were invading privacy and are no better than a peeping tom!

The paps are stalkers. They have been shown in the past, by different news channels. Doesn’t matter if its local, state, or national news! For atleast the last ten years, I have personaly lost count of how many times i’ve seen in the news paps harassing celebrity’s on high speed cars chases through towns or highways. The police say they can’t do anything about it because celebrity’s can’t identify the harassing paps or some other bull excuse for not persueing the matter even with license plates numbers. I is sad to say but unless we have a “Princess Diana” wreck happen to a celebrity on U.S. soil with paps involved, then our government and lawmakers would then do something about it. Until this unfortunate situation happens paps will probably do any thing and every thing to get that picture.

As a working photographer, I have mixed feelings about this one. Granted the paparazzi are the bottom feeders of our profession, but this is no justification for the use of violence against those trying to photograph a Hollywood celebrity or destroying that photographer’s property. I sincerly hope the LA County Sheriff’s Office brings charges against those responsible for attacking the photographer and the DA prosecutes them to the fullest extent of the law.

OKAY,So the paps are invasive, this we know.. but cmon.. they were way back and not in anyone’s way. The surfer boys, they made it a bigger deal than needed! atleast according to the clip. They destroyed his property, and ganged up on the guy. It’s
ridiculous in this case as there was no
need. They were being “all that” cuz they know Mcconaughey, and wanted to prove their tough and protective. Your wrong on this one guys, ya could’ve left this one alone. Save when the need is there. And, it was a public beach, and they were not bothering him. And what was with the “bad chick?” was her testosteone…oops, adrenaline a LITTLE pumped?
I think Matthew could’ve handled this

I don’t care if it was a nice day at the “BU”, the pap’s need to just walk away sometimes and let everyone(including a star) enjoy what they love to do!!! Obviously, none of them ore surfers.

there is a comment that was made about a police officer taking on his job. what if because he is a police officer someone stalks him takes his pictures just cause he chose that job does that give anyone the right to follow him he gives tickets and invades people himself. i dont like cops. but that is a poor example as far as jobs go. if that cop was being followed by a camera i am sure he would press charges.
as far as photographers go they should ask the people they want to photograph. not invade them with pix, they themself would not want made public! how rude. just how rude. i think all people should start takeing camera and go see a judge at his home. and when he and his family are out. or the police when they are off duty. i know quite a few who drink and drive. now that would be a subject. i do love a good story book brought to life and someone who has the talent to give birth to a character how ever you spell it. just saw fools gold very funny, good actors. good story line. but that is what a actor does. they give life to a story.

yes, those punks are leeching off the work(?) of the stars. Anybody that says the stars wanted publicity, so they should take the stalkerazzi, is just jealous. I guess they think Princess Di deserved to be run off the road by these freaks!

If stars don’t want to be followed by paparazzi… Then don’t be stars. Starting a physical fight is SO COOL. Way to go surfer dudes…. Yeah. As for that loud mouth girl… So not attractive. Do you think you’re cool? Probably knew she was gonna be on tv. She acts like she was raised by wolves

They should be arrested.. this is public domain. The surfers are real smart… lets get in a fight with a crew that can film us and turn it over to the cops….

I dont agree with starts having no privacy, but they lose those items when they become a public profile.

Sorry, go purchase a private island if you dont want to be filmed… you wanted to be in the public eye… and you got your wish. You dont complain when you earn millions for being in a film.. its part of the price of fame. Move to montana like bruce and demi if you dont want to be followed by film crews.

What I wonder is —- do shows like yours buy this footage, or are you filming it just like the paparazzi.

The paps would be out of business (following stars, invading privacy) if the rag mags, entertainment shows etc, stopped using the photos, videos.

I don’t have a prob when the stars at event shows etc, but have issue when they are doing their own thing (especially with their kids).

Funny how entertainment shows criticize the papparazzi, you love it, thrive on it, so really don’t in some ways very similar.

yes, i very much believe that the pap. deserved everything they got, and actually deserved more because not only are they bothering mathew but all the other people that live there. i love his movies and alot of other people and none of them deserve to be bothered like that.

They got what they deserved! Why was the part where the pap hit one of the surfers with a tripod not shown, after that the fight started. If I or you followed someone around like the pap’s, we would be arrested for stalking.

THEY SHOULD HAVE THROWN ALL THEIR CAMERA EQUIPMENT
IN THE WATER FOR NOT COMPLYING WITH PRIVACY REQUEST…

Should happen more put a stocking over your face and go to work. Beat them down. Stocking is small and hides who you are. WORKS GREAT. Brass nuckles are good to but a pain to carry.

It’s all about greed plain and simple if there wasn’t money to be made there wouldn’t be paps invading the private lives of individuals plain and simple.

And stalking is a crime and that is exactly what paps do they stalk their prey with their cameras and stalking is a crime.

EXAMPLE: A POLICE OFFICER CHOOSES HIS JOB AND KNOWS THAT HIS/HER LIFE IS AT RISK EVERYDAY BUT THEY STILL CHOOSE THEIR JOB BUT IT DOESN’T GIVE THEM THE RIGHT PHYSICALLY HARM ANYONE UNLESS IT IS SELF DEFENSE. STARS CHOOSE TO BE STARS EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THAT THEY WILL HAVE NO PRIVACY IN PUBLIC PLACES BUT IT DOES NOT GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO PHYSICALLY HARM ANYONE. THE SURFERS NEED TO BE LOCKED UP AND MAYBE THOSE PUNKS WILL THINK TWICE NEXT TIME BEFORE PUTTING THEIR HANDS ON PEOPLE. THEY ARE TAKING PICTURES NOT BEATING PEOPLE UP. AND LAST…..IF SOMEONE IS CHASING ME WITH A CAMERA, I’M NOT GOING TO LET THEM CONTROL HOW I DRIVE. THOSE PEOPLE WERE NOT CHASING THE PRINCESS WITH GUNS. THE PRINCESS DESERVES TO STILL BE ALIVE BUT IF SOMEONE WAS CHASING ME WITH A CAMERA, IT WOULDN’T EFFECT MY DRIVING UNLESS SOMEONE IS SHOOTING A GUN AT ME. MAYBE SOMEONE WILL PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE JUST FOR LOOKING AT THEM THE WRONG WAY AND THEN YOU’LL REALIZE THAT NO ONE DESERVES PHYSICAL ABUSE FOR TAKING A PICTURE OF SOMEONE OUT IN PUBLIC BECAUSE IGNORANT THINGS LIKE THIS HAPPEN EVERYDAY!

As far as I am concerned the paps got what they deserved. There is no right to invade a persons private lives and starts have private lives despite what the media tries to do to get the money shot. Had the paps not chased Princess Diana perhaps she’d still be alive. Getting a sdhot is one thing even myself I try and get a shot when I can but I also remember that these are human beings and they deserve their privacy just as much as we all do. How would you like it if someone followed you around snapping shots of you all the time hanging from fences and such just to get the money shot of you. it might be fine or even funny for a wee bit but after awhile you would tire of it and get ticked off at constantly being harrassed in this way!
