Eddie Murphy Retiring?

0630eddie.jpg

"Meet Dave" star Eddie Murphy is dishing to "Extra's" Tanika Ray about leaving the movie business for good after the release of his latest film. "I have close to fifty movies and it's like, why am I in the movies?" he said, adding, "I've done that part now. I'll go back to the stage and do standup."

Murphy, 47, said that while a "Beverly Hills Cop 4" flick was in the works, he didn't want to do it, because "the movie wasn't ready to be done." Murphy said he agreed to do "Cop 3" because of the large fee he was offered. "They said this is how much we're going to pay you. I said, 'let's go shoot it! I don't care if the script ain't right."

As for Eddie's love life, the new bachelor told "Extra" he is currently looking for a woman with "just honesty and some other things." Murphy married Tracey Edmonds on January 1, and they split just 15 days later.

"Meet Dave" will be introduced July 11.

I’m not African Am. Sorry. When I think of James Bond though, I think of you. He would be intelligent, and therefore have a sense of humor and be competent in any activity. And win. Have you ever thought of doing James Bond?

Eddie Murphy needs to do something besides movies since he no longer seems to care what kind of garbage script he accepts….as long as he is making the big bucks. Meet Dave is a poor excuse for entertainment

Yes, he’s a great role model, if you happen to live on the set of a soap opera!

I love his standup best, but he is great in the movies, too. I wish he could find a way to do both. Perhaps do comedy concert movies again like Raw and Delirious.

Best news I’ve heard this year. Eddie is a God. Go back to stand-up man. You are the funniest man in the world when you’re on that stage busting jokes.

I think he should definately do something else. All of his characters in his movies are starting to look and sound alike (a lot like the Klumps family in The Nutty Professor movies). It’s not funny or entertaining anymore. I wish him the best of luck. Eddie has a lot of child support to pay.

I wish him the best if he goes back to the stage and do stand-up. I feel the best one out there now is Dave Cappelle. Stand-up is different from the days of Raw…Best of luck Eddie.
