Kennedy Diagnosed with Brain Tumor

It's yet another heartbreaking crisis for the Kennedy clan. News broke this afternoon that Senator Ted Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor.

Doctors discovered the growth in the senator's left parietal lobe. Damage to that area of the brain can disrupt one's ability to understand spoken or written words. 76-year-old Teddy has been hospitalized since Saturday, after he suffered a seizure and was airlifted from Cape Cod.

Kennedy's wife, Vicki, and his children have been visiting him at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he's been in good spirits and resting comfortably. Teddy's treatment will be determined after more tests -- but patients usually undergo aggressive chemotherapy and radiation.

Calls for prayers for the senator were issued by various lawmakers in Washington. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose wife Maria Shriver is Teddy's niece, issued a statement thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Send your well wishes to Senator Kennedy by leaving comments below.

Senator Ted Kennedy;

I love you and am praying for the best possible outcome for you. You have been my hero in congress basically since I started voting.. Its amazing that you have always been there to take our place in time of need.. We knew we could always depend on you to take
the right stand. All we needed to know was, what is Ted Kennedy saying about this issue. Is the way we always knew we were on the right side of the issues. Through thick and thin you are always in our heart, and mind…God bless and keep you my dear sir.

Ken and Janice Dodd, and all the family…

I am by far a fan of Senator Kennedy but i do not wish this on anyone. My father was diagnosed as having 8 tumors on his brain in 1995 and died shortly thereafter. I wish him a speedy recovery and better health.

Hello Senator Kennedy!

I just heard your diagnosis and I am very sadened by it. I have been praying for you, since you were taken to the hospital. I will continue to do so. I will pray for the doctors to do their best; that you still have the fight and strenghth to get through the treatments; and, you know, with your faith, that God will be there with you and I will put you, in his hands. You have with stood so much, in your long life, this is just one more.

If you are watching American Idol tonight, David Cook just sang a brand new song called “Dream Big”. As he sang it, all I could think of is this is the perfect song for you to hear right now. Someone should download it and play it for you!!

Thank you for all your years of service for the people of Massachusetts and the U.S. I have lived in FL for 29 yrs., but I am from Stoughton, MA. I grew up there and still call it home. I was 10 yrs. old, when your brother, John, ran for president. Our teacher had us vote, as if we were really voting. I voted for him. I was 12 yrs. old, when the unthinkable happened and I felt like I lost a member of my family too. As each one has fallen, I have felt that way. I hardly left the TV, waiting for them to find John, Jr. Your family has been, so much a part of my life. I am not ready to lose another of you, so please keep fighting!

I am still very much a Boston Sports Fan too!!! Go Red Sox and Celtics!!!
Love,
Karen

I have been a fan of the Kennedy family for a long time. I still have the official thank you from Jackie for condolences after the death of JFK. I know you have great strength and that is what helps in overcoming cancer. They say if you can’t accept it mentally you can’t beat it physically. I know for a fact this is true, since I’m a cancer survivor. You have a great support system behind you with your family and an entire country. We all love you and wish a speedy recovery.

Best wishes for your recovery. I would like to thank you for giving the common man hope, when the rest of Washington has seemingly forgotten him.

Thank you, Edward Kennedy, for a passionate lifework in service of the poor. I was recently looking at the photograph of you working with your father The Ambassador in London in 1938. Those you have helped know that your have taken the values of your family and your brothers and carried them forward. God bless you and your family.
