Former 'Idol' Blasts Show

Claymate alert! Clay is aching to tell the world how he really feels about the show that launched his huge career five years ago -- and it isn't pretty! "I haven't watched an episode," reveals Clay, "it's just not the same thing. It's like going back to your high school and none of your teachers are there, it's just completely different."

So what is breakin' Aiken's heart about "Idol" -- and why hasn't he watched the hit FOX show since Carrie Underwood won? "I feel like the show was very innocent for a while when I was on it, and I absolutely thank God for it," says Aiken, "and now it's less and less I think -- people have record deals, contracts -- it's just not the same show. It's not that I have an aversion to it, it's just eh, next."

Next up for the "Idol" graduate is his new album, "On My Way Here" -- and it's his most personal yet. "Listen to it and how it relates to you," says Aiken.

Oh by the way I don’t think American Idol is the same either and if they don’t put the breaks on the semi-pros entering this contest I really think this show is going to end very soon because your everday person is looking to see an amature get a break !!!

Clay says that the American Idol show has changed well so has he !! He’s not the same guy everyone fell head- over- heels for success somehow seems to change people and not always for the better whenever I listen to Clay speak now he seems over confident and full of himself and maybe he’s not but that’s how I see him and as a hairdresser I must say Clay whatever are you thinking with that hair of yours ??????

This is a sleazy site/show. I base this not just on this interview (?) but anything written about any celebrity. There have been many interviews with Mr. Aiken the past few days and none has seemed as much like tabloid trash as this one does. I’m wondering how much was edited out. It’s not only Clay Aiken but any celebrity. The media basically sucks and is getting worse all the time. Anything for ratings.
He’s entitled to his opinion and still credits Idol. More and more people are feeling the same way about American Idol and I’m one of them.
By the way, his real name IS Clay Aiken.
His birthname was Grissom, his father was an alcoholic and abandoned him and his mother when he was a baby. Long before Idol, he legally changed his last name to Aiken, his mothers maiden name.
Get your facts straight, if that is possible.
I believe about 5% of what I read about any celebrity, and rarely even watch these so-called entertainment shows. They’re a joke.

Blasting???????????? Where in this interview is he blasting Idol. I agree totally with what Clay is saying. Idol is NOT what it used to be at all. The show has proved that it is now FAKE. Judges coming out with critiques for songs that haven’t even been sung yet, GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Clay also stated he is very greatful for Idol, I don’t see that as blasting. Extra is turning into nothing better than the rag magazines that make garbage up.

I THINK THE SHOW HAS LOST IT’S HEART AND SOUL. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE AMETURES. I STOPPED WATCHING PROJECT RUNWAY FOR THE SAME REASON.

Eh - I’m over the show too - haven’t watched since Jennifer Hudson was beaten by Fantasia in season 3.

They have contestants now who already have record contracts? That sucks! No wonder they’re losing viewers.

This can only give HIM press, good or bad. But I don’t see any real “dissing”. He said the show has lost it’s innocence and I couldn’t agree more. I still watch it but do not enjoy it near as much as the first couple of years. He is still grateful he was on it but I bet if you ask Kelly, Ruben or any of the others, they would probably the exact same thing. I doubt they are glued to their sets watching each week either.

Everyone is entitled to have/expresss his or her opinion, and I respect that. Therefore, I ask that you please respect mine, as well. I have to agree with Clay on this one. I haven’t watched American Idol in three years, not only because it appears that the Judges have been encouraged to become more abrasive and hurtful each year, but am tired of the way the tryouts are edited to ‘make fun of’ and ‘bully’ some of the persons trying out. I also haven’t watched because it has, in my humble opinion, lost its “innocence premise” or its original format of giving the ‘unknown boy or girl next door’ an opportunity they may never have had. For the last few years the powers to be have allowed more ‘seasoned’ finalists on the show. I have also become more aware of the ‘power of pimping by the producers/judges’ to influence the votes, also a loss of innocence in my opinion. Thank you.

He is so handsome. I like him so much. He was said to appeared on the luxury club “RICHLOVING.COM”, just for millionaire&celebrities. Though he is not a playboy, but i think

the hot girls on that site should want to date this cute guy so much.

Show has no excitement anymore unless you like Simon and Ryans comments to each other. Clay did not blast the show just stated his opinion.

He’s totally right. Idol used to be amateurs. Now it’s people with contracts, it’s not the same at all
