America's Next Role Model

Fierce, fabulous, and full-figured! "Extra" met up with Whitney Thompson, the cycle 10 winner of "America's Next Top Model," who is trailblazing the catwalk as the show's first plus-sized winner! The win nabbed by Thompson may surprise her, but she'll make a fine role model.

After sharing a bonding moment with supermodel hostess Tyra Banks after the "Top Model's" win, Whitney said of Tyra, "She feels left out because sometimes she looks at what other people consider beauty -- and sees that's not really her cookie cutter mold, and I think it really hurts her -- we both started crying." Thompson then added, "I was raised in the south where it's a good thing to have a butt and breasts."

Don't expect stardom to go to Whitney's head -- the new role model plans to stay away from the rocky path taken by troubled Hollywood It girls! "You're not going to see me walking around town with no panties or getting DUIs or in rehab," laughed Thompson.

Most people have to remember, Like Tyra had said she is only considered a full figured model in the fashion industry. On the street she would be considered a “HOT CHICK”.

I am unbelievably appalled that Whitney is being called full-figured and worse, plus-sized. WHAT??? THIS is what is so wrong with our society today. Please. Being a size 10 is FAR from being fat. And Whitney is certainly NOT fat by any stretch of the imagination. I’m glad she’s not friends with the girl who called her fat and told her she’d never get anywhere. Good for her. I guess she showed her.

WTG, Whitney! You, Tyra, and Jennifer Love Hewitt are the only REAL role models out there these days. Please don’t change a thing about you.

All of you at EXTRA should be ashamed of yourselves. How hypocritical to prepetuate the fashion industries insane view of size by calling a beautiful young size 10 woman a ‘full figure’ size model.
Pick a lane and stay in it! Either you stop putting on stories of about how Hollywood and the fashion industry are distorting size (RE: your piece with Jennifer Love Hewitt) or you stop promoting the insanity of those industries with a story such as this one.

The average woman is a size 12, or 14, so, I’m guessing that the insane think that any double-digit size is full-figured. To me, full-figured means you actually can see the woman when she stands sideways!!

She is absolutely gorgeous, in the real world she is not even considered to be “full- figured”. She’s is simply beautiful, I am happy for her and hopes she has a long prosperous career.

You Are SO right!!! Women are not supposed to look like boys. The designers are the only ones who think that stick is a good look, believe me!

I am so happy for her, she was my favorite. Curves are sexy! Not sticks.
