The war of words between Barbara Walters and Star Jones was the hot topic at a party for Time magazine's 100 Most Influential last night in New York -- but when "Extra" caught up with Matt Lauer, he opened up about his own former feud -- with Tom Cruise!

Recalling the heated discussion on "Today" in 2005 -- in which Cruise called Lauer "glib" -- Matt told "Extra" about the possibility of a reunion with the "Lions for Lambs" star. "It is an open invitation and we've had one for a long time," says Lauer, "Sooner or later we're going to have to walk into the same studio and I look forward to it."

The "Today" host also didn't shy away from the "View" controversy. "I love Barbara and she's been someone I've looked up to my entire career and she's been very kind. I don't know what's going to come out of all these exchanges [with Star] but I know one thing. It won't change my opinion of her [Walters]."

Star Jones back on "The View" - huh?! Even in the midst of a Star war, Barbara Walters reveals the possibility of Jones returning to the show as a guest host! "I don't know what the situation might be," says Babs in an "Extra" exclusive, "but I could see having Star and Rosie back on [the show.]" Wow!

Jessica Simpson is planning another trip down the aisle -- but don't expect another round of "Newlyweds" from the blonde starlet, because this time she's the maid of honor! Jess has revealed that she will serve as little sister Ashlee's right hand woman in Ash's upcoming nuptials with fiancé Pete Wentz.

When asked if she would stand by her sister on the big day, Jessica revealed to People, "Of course!"

That detail is one of few that have been disclosed about the Simpson/Wentz wedding -- the pair has been hush-hush on their plans for "I do" -- even refusing to confirm Ashlee's rumored pregnancy.

Jessica recently performed for nearly 35,000 Marines at Camp Pendleton.

She is John Travolta's real-life leading lady, good friend to Tom Cruise, devoted mother to her two children, and admittedly obsessed with Target -- and now "Extra" is going one-on-one with Kelly Preston.

The actress opened up to "Extra" host Dayna Devon in a recent interview about her life on the Hollywood A-List -- including her secret on how to make a Tinseltown marriage survive. On her 17-year marriage to Travolta, Preston said, "We don't really live in L.A. -- we live in Florida. We've got our kids, do a lot of very normal things... ride golf carts, swim, rollerblade. We try to keep the family together as much as humanly possible."

The acting bug must be in the DNA -- Preston reveals that daughter Ella has already been bitten! "Ella, Johnny and I just did a movie together that'll be out next year called "Old Dogs" -- had the best time," says Preston.

Kelly isn't worried about the negative influences of Hollywood affecting her daughter. "It's all about choices, about instilling values. We don't do drugs. I don't drink... so she's not around a lot of that, so I don't think she'll be as tempted to fall into that."

Spears surprised the rocker spawn contestants of MTV's "Rock the Cradle," by showing up to the season finale on Thursday night to support manager and friend Larry Rudolph, a judge on the show.

"She was here to support the show. I mentioned to her that I was going to my show -- she said 'I want to come down.' She loved it," Rudolph tells Us Weekly, "She came here because she wanted to see the show, which I appreciated."

Brit visited the show, which pits the kids of famous musicians against each other in a musical battle, fresh from a day with her own kids, Jayden James and Sean Preston. They might be future contestants!

Spears was recently granted more visitation time with her tots after a clean-cut court appearance earlier this week.
