Could a man possibly be pregnant? Thomas Beatie, a transgender male, says he's carrying a baby -- and Oprah Winfrey has landed the first interview.

In an "Oprah" and People magazine exclusive airing Thursday, the TV titan will show Beatie's ultrasound and look at plans for the nursery. Beatie, 34, is a transsexual who has undergone reconstructive surgery and is now considered a man. This will be the first child for Beatie and his wife, Nancy.

Now "Extra" has learned another stunning revelation -- this is Beatie's second pregnancy. He revealed to The Advocate that he had to end an earlier pregnancy with triplets for medical reasons.

it is what it is. whatever they want this to be it is. life is what it is. life is whatever we want it to be. people do things that make them happy and they want people who can actually relate to them on some level to know that they are not the only ones out there. this is what this topic seems to be about and what it is portayed to be to me. if you relate then it applies to you, if you do not relate then obviously this does not apply nor affect you. ignore the topic and find something that is useful to you. like man and woman get pregnant or woman and man get pregnant or woman and man get married or man and woman get married or man and woman get divorced or woman and man get divorced or man and man get married oh my bad i forgot, some states do not have this basic human right. like we might as well be slaves or in the torture camps or al l live in 3rd world countries where basic human rights are few to nonexistent.

A women who has the heart of a man, is not a man. A person with clitoris, vagina and uterus is not a man. A man has no female parts. Aman has always male parts, period. How astonishin!how come She/”he” is having wife! I think this is a GAY relationship in disguise. not a normal man and woman relationship. Beatie is a woman with woman parts, (a sorrugate mother), a former beauty queen, not a man with the right parts to satisfy a women. STOP THIS MADNESS.

I agree with many of the comments here.
I think it is very misleading of the media to write these screaming headlines “Man Pregnant!!” As many have pointed out this is a woman who had surgical alterations to become male, but kept his female reproductive parts. From what i understand from the Oprah show, s/he still has a vagina with an enlarged clitoris. How else was the wife suppose to get the sperm up there? I consider myself to be an open minding, sensitive and accepting individual but jeez this is just down right crazy.

for people who think this is sick i think you should look at why you think that way. look at society and our culture, men are “suppose” to be masculine so hearing about a pregnant man may come as more of shock. in some cultures though the roles between men and women are reversed. and i don’t get what is so confusing about it….this person was born a girl, but is now a man for their own personal reasons and comfort. we don’t need to judge and dictate whats right for everyone, its not our place. if there are things wrong in this world its the fact that we are feeding in hate towards different groups because we think “our way is the right way” when really, there is no right way. i mean you have two people here who are married and love each other and starting a family. i see nothing wrong. i think this is a wonderful story, that he is baring the child for his wife because she can’t have anymore children. may God bless them…im sure he already has.

Well this person is actually a women that looks like a man. many women out there are ugly enough to look like a man she just wasnt lucky I guess to have guy parts (lol) Well it is normal for a women to have a child. Its just not normal that she has guy parts. But she had sergury for them. If I was that child I would be confused on who to call mother!!!! I think that she should of stayed a femal if she wanted a child but she is doing this for the one she loves!!! And realy what is considerd normal any more!!! Being happy is what everyone should be worried about!!! Not what people do to be happy!!!

How sweet of him to get pregnant with his wife’s egg. They used a donor’s sperm. A surrogate mother for his wife is what he is. He did it because she could not get pregnant. Congrats to the lucky couple!

News Flash People! This is a women who has became an man having a baby. First off “he” is a she, so that’s no suprise that “he” was able to bear a child since “he” kept “his” feamle orgians.

i agree with a lot of the comments posted. i don’t think that he is actually a “he”, hahahahaaa,
( inside joke: in my husband’s language that word, “he” means girl or the dirty & correct version is a woman’s gentilia ). as one poster wrote, if “he” was born as a man, PHYSICALLY, then yes this would be considered a miracle but “he” was born as a woman so I don’t see what the big deal is. of course it’s awesome that they will be able to have a kid but that is all because “he” has the required parts of a woman. as the old saying goes, “if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck”
