Swayze's Treatment Plan Revealed

Early reports of Patrick Swayze's pancreatic cancer said the star had just weeks to live, but "Extra" spotted a healthy-looking Patrick working on his private plane in Los Angeles this week.

Now "Extra" has learned about a revolutionary new treatment which may hold some hope for the "Dirty Dancing" star -- the CyberKnife, a machine that delivers bursts of radiation to cancerous tumors with pinpoint accuracy.

In March, Patrick's physicians announced they were optimistic about his prognosis, saying, "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far."

Patrick has said that he's blown away by the outpouring of support from around the world. As fans wait for more good news, send your own message to Patrick - by leaving a comment below.

Dear Patrick,
In Sept. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer..I was very jaundiced, lost 27 lbs in just over 2 weeks, & upon surgery my tumor marker, the CA-19 was at 77! I was given 3 months..6 if I was “lucky”. The Dr. told my daughter to make my Christmas a great one because I wouldn’t be around for another one!! And she did just that :) I’m very happy to say for a fact JESUS does NOT listen to Drs! I’m still here, still strong..& still love my LORD, 5+ years later! YOU can do it with Jesus’ help!!! Know HE is there and lean on HIM :)

Hi Patrick,

My name is Tina and I am from Ohio. When I first heard of the news I was really sad! I have loved you since Dirty Dancing. Anyway, my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. You seem like a strong person and are able to fight this!! You still look great and hope to see you again soon in a “chick” flick,(perhaps in a Dirty Dancing Reunion movie :)

Take care!

Patrick, you probably remember me as the first man you had sexual relations with when you first came to New York as a “model” and tried to break into show business. I paid you $50 and brought you to my “fotographer” friend who shot your first professional photographs that you used to break into your first agent’s office with. I refered you to many other men who loved you for a fee and who helped to support you in your early struggling days in show business. Although you never came out after you achieved fame, we all understood and we all loved you, even if only inside your closet. I wish you well and I wish you health. If you recover and have more time, I hope you will consider coming out of the closet because I honestly feel that each of us in the industry has a purpose and a meaning and that by coming out you will help to reach other men who need the courage to come out. I am not calling you a coward for having remained in the closet, yet I wish you had found it within your heart to be honest and true to yourself by having come out when you reached the pinnacle of your fame. You and John Travolta both! Perhaps there is still time for you and for Johnny; only time will tell. In the meantime, A votre sante Patrick; a votre sante!

Patrick: you always were and still are a “hottie”. I’ve been a fan of yours for years. My thoughts, hopes and prayers are with you in this very difficult time. Give your disease over to God to handle and get on with living. He’ll take care of you. That’s what I did with my brain tumor and I didn’t worry about it again because it was in bigger hands than mine. Everything went well and luckily in my case, it was benign. God Bless.

I am so happy to hear of your improving health. I have been a fan of yours for years. Dirty Dancing and Ghost are two of my favorite movies of all times. I am so glad you have a great support system, your wife, other family members and friends. A positive attitude and wonderful support from those you love are so very important when battling a health issue of this magnitude. As a Christian, I will be praying for you and hope if you are not a Christian you will turn to God at this time. He is the great physician and healer of body and soul. If you are a Christian, stay close to Him as He says in his word when we draw close to Him He is there for us always,in good times and during our trials in life. Thank you for your great talent in acting and dancing you have shared with the world through your movies and television. Please continue to be the inspiration that I am sure you are for others who have cancer. You are in the ‘limelight’ and you are a ‘shining star’ not only in the movies, but more importantly just a human being like all of us. Thank you so very much for your life and being willing to share with everyone. Anna

Our prayers are with you and your family. We hope that you are getting better every day. I just wanted to tell you that my daughter and I saw you in Guys and Dolls 2 years ago this August in London and you were great. We had other plans that day but we canceled them to get tickets for your show. We decided we could see Oxford anytime but not you. Keep up the good fight.
